China Glaze Prey Tell Swatches & Review

China-Glaze-Prey-Tell-Swatches-Review

China Glaze Prey Tell is a super vampy burgundy from the On Safari Collection.

If you want something darker on your nails now that we’re heading into fall, but don’t want to wear a full-on black, this may suit you well.

I actually prefer wearing a full-on black compared to shades that are near black and so dark that you can’t tell it’s not black.

Prey Tell is almosttt a near black. You can tell that it’s redder, but in dim lighting, it’s verrrry dark.

Despite usually feeling annoyed by near-black shades, it was the finish that made me enjoy wearing it…and not the actual colour. Allow me to show you photos of what I mean and also explain in detail!

SpaRitual Break of Dawn Swatches & Review

SpaRitual-Break-of-Dawn-Swatches-ReviewHere’s SpaRitual Break of Dawn, a brilliant red that’s from last year’s holiday collection called Twinkle.

You may remember a while ago, I posted a Haul of Shame post on the colours I picked up. This was one of them.

At first glance, it looks like any other amazing red nail polish (there are many of them on the market, especially around Christmas!), but don’t judge this polish completely until you see it in person and in the sunlight.

It’s far more interesting than it first appears, and unfortunately, I had some difficulty capturing all its glory with my camera, even in the sunlight photos. But, when I say that it’s amazing, I don’t say it lightly. You know that I’m not the biggest red nail-polish fan, but this one is now one of my favourite reds.

Zoya Daul Swatches & Review

Zoya-Daul-Swatches-ReviewZoya Daul is an incredible must-have from the NYFW Collection. If you don’t have a purple with gold like this, you ‘need’ it!

It’s funny, but every single time I see the name Zoya Daul, I immediately think of Indian food.

It’s one of my favourite cuisines to chow down on because it’s filling and incredibly tasty. (Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food would be next.)

It was during the 4 to 5 years when I was a vegetarian that I discovered the joy of eating Indian food. Not sure how I managed to survive without it before!

Yellow dal tarka is one of my favourite dishes. The reason I’m bringing this up (other than the fact that I enjoy rambling occasionally) is that every time I see ‘Daul’, I get a mental image of a piping hot, yummy dish of yellow dal tarka…and I get hungry. Yes, this nail polish makes me hungry. Should I be concerned? 😉

P.S. I anticipated questions about how it compares to OPI It’s My Year, so I included bottle and swatch comparisons to help you decide if you ‘need’ it. 😉

FingerPaints Guggen I’m Lime Swatches & Review

FingerPaints-Guggen-I'm-Lime-Swatches-ReviewIt’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of green nail polish. Perhaps I was abducted by little green men who also had little green nails. 😉

The latest green lacquer I wore was FingerPaints Guggen I’m Lime, which I got free when I renewed my Sally Beauty Supply membership. They sent me a coupon, and that was even more of an incentive to renew.

You haven’t seen many reviews or swatches of FingerPaints nail polishes on here because I think I only have one other bottle (also a green – surprise, surprise). So I was pretty excited to add another FingerPaints polish to my collection.

Nail Art Tutorial: Pink & Blue Leopard Nails

Pink-Blue-Leopard-Nails-Nail-Art-SwatchesWhen you don’t have the patience to do intricate nail art that requires a lot of concentration and supplies, these Pink & Blue Leopard Nails are a great choice!

The messier the spots and outlines are, the better it looks, in my opinion. Also, you don’t need many polishes or tools to achieve this look. (That’s always a plus!)

And for those of you who don’t have any Konad or other nail stamping image plates with the leopard design, this post is to show you that you can still get the look by doing it freehand. 🙂 Try to be resourceful, and you may surprise yourself with the designs you can come up with. (I actually like the imperfections that freehand designs often have. They’re almost like your signature on each manicure in a way.)

Since I couldn’t decide whether to use blue or pink as the base colour, I thought…heck, why not just use them both? There aren’t any hard and fast rules when it comes to nail art. Just do what works for you and what pleases you.

For this look, you can see that I alternated between pink and blue. You might want to do something else…maybe a different base colour on each nail? (That would be cool to have a rainbow leopard design!)

Orly Rock-It Swatches & Review

Orly-Rock-It-Swatches-ReviewOrly Rock-It from the Mineral FX Collection is like the lady in red who heats up the dance floor as she kicks up her heels and does the salsa!

Better get the extinguisher and the hot greased-up fire fighters from those calendars handy because your nails will be on fire with this one! Hot damn!

Although I don’t wear red nail polish as often as other colours, when I do reach for one, it’s either a bright creme or something blingtastic like this magenta-leaning red.

Do you remember what the last red nail polish you wore was?

Zoya Toni Swatches & Review

Zoya-Toni-Swatches-ReviewIf you were a kid growing up on the 1980s like me, you’ll probably remember Saturday morning cartoons and how awesome they were.

You’ll also probably remember The California Raisins commercial and the brief “After These Messages” snippets.

Oh, those were the days! *She says while her rocking chair squeaks*

Zoya Toni from the NYFW 2012 Collection reminds me of The California Raisins. No, it doesn’t sing or dance…but maybe if I keep looking at it late at night, it will start to. 😉

(And don’t tell any of the Raisins about this polish because they’ll get scared. After all, the bottle is basically their Raisin ‘blood’.)
