OPI 4 in the Morning Swatches & Review

OPI 4 in the Morning Swatches & ReviewOPI 4 in the Morning from the Gwen Stefani CollectionĀ is a sharp contrast from yesterday’s post, isn’t it?

The neon rainbow dotticure was all gumdrops and unicorns floating on a candy-floss cloud. But today’s manicure is like an anatomically correct rubber superhero’s suit!

When I saw OPI 4 in the Morning in the bottle, I didn’t know it would take me for a spin around the block with the convertible top rolled down!

Oh yeah, I am in love with this! It’s edgy, of course, because it’s dark and foreboding. But the satin finish gives it an editorial feel.

In fact, I loved wearing this polish so much that while I wore it for several days straight!

P.S. You’ll see that on my thumb and ring finger, there’s a tiny ‘bump’. Apparently I got some mystery lint on my nail, but I only noticed after I finished painting my nails. It didn’t bother me because it was barely noticeable. It’s only on the blog when nails are blown up larger than life! Can’t let a little imperfection bring a whole manicure down, right? šŸ˜‰

Nail Art: Neon Rainbow Dotticure

Neon Rainbow Nails Nail ArtIf you saw my Instagram photo yesterday, you saw theĀ Neon Rainbow DotticureĀ I did recently.

The weather has been gloomy, so I wanted to deck my nails out with neons. And since I haven’t done some fun nail art in a while, I decided to bust out my handy dotting tool as well.

(Is it just me, or is creating dots as addictive as popping bubble wrap?)

I’m still wearing this manicure today, and I love it so much. It has just the cheerful personality I wanted. (And, really, how could bringing a rainbow everywhere you goĀ notĀ cheer you up, right?)

I urge you to try this look out. It’s extremely quick and easy to do, plus it’s perfect for when you can’t decide on wearing a single colour. (Sometimes being indecisive is a good thing. Haha!)

Sally Hansen Fa-la-la-lavender Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Carnival Cotton Candy)

Sally Hansen Sally Hansen Fa-la-la-lavender Swatches & ReviewI hope that you all had a great New Year’s! šŸ™‚

Although I rarely make New Year’s resolutions, I decided to make one for blogging.

I was going through my old computer files and came across a few manicures and product photographs that never made it on here. I plan to go back, and let them all see the light of day.

Back in October, I punched up a pink manicure with some glitter.

I came across photos ofĀ Sally Hansen Fa-la-la-lavenderĀ layered over Nicole by OPI Carnival Cotton Candy (from the Carrie Underwood Collection).

OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Swatches & Review

OPI Love Angel Music Baby Swatches & ReviewOPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby.Ā is a champagne nail polish that’s part of the highly anticipated OPI Gwen Stefani Collection that’s set to be officially released in January 2014.

It’s right around the corner!

Aside from being such a classy colour, what I like about it is the unique satin finish, which I can best describe as frosted glass.

It’s designed to be worn without a top coat, and I think that if you slick a shiny top coat over this, it completely defeats the purpose.

I think that even if you’re not yet on the textured trend, a satin finish like this can ease you into it because it’s halfway between a textured polish and a shiny one.

China Glaze Your Present Required Swatches & Review (Layered Over OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby.)

China Glaze Your Present Required Swatches & ReviewI had been drooling overĀ China Glaze Your Present RequiredĀ from the Happy HoliGlaze Collection ever since I first heard about it in the press release.

NailPolishCanada was kind enough to send it to me to try, and I’m so excited to share my review and swatches of it with you.

Christmas is the perfect time to bust out the glitter, but, really, whenever I want to freshen up an older manicure. Plus sometimes if you need a little pick-me-up, glitter is the easy and quick fix.

At first, I was going to layer it over a blue or purple, but since I was already wearing OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby. from the Gwen Stefani Collection, I thought it would be cool to see what it’d look like on top of it. (I feel like the glitter really contrasts against the pale-gold base, so you can better see each piece.)

What would you layer under China Glaze Your Present Required?

China Glaze Put a Bow on It Swatches & Review

China Glaze Put a Bow on It Swatches & ReviewChina Glaze Put a Bow on ItĀ from the Happy HoliGlaze Collection looks like a grape purple in my natural-light photos, but that’s entirely because these days, my only option has been to photograph it during really dim mornings.

The colour in real life is a fuchsia that leans heavily on the pink side, so please take that into consideration if you’re shopping for this shade.

There have been so many dreary days, which makes photographing it challenging, but hopefully my photos still give you a good idea of its personality.

The entire time I wore this, I kept looking at my nails like a vain polish peacock – that’s when you know you’re wearing a winning polish! (It’s hard to take your eyes off it because it twinkles all the time!)

Some dense glitters wear like iron on me, and some don’t play well with Seche Vite and then chip off. However, I tend to have good luck with polishes lasting a long time. (It might be because my natural nails are on the dry side, so polish hangs onto them for dear life like a clingy lover. Haha!)

China Glaze Put a Bow on It held up so well – I’m impressed!

OPI Hey Baby Swatches & Review

OPI Hey Baby Swatches & Review“Hey baby! Hey baby! HEY!”

Today’s post is onĀ OPI Hey Baby, which is part of the OPI Gwen Stefani Collection coming to stores officially in January 2014.

You may remember me posting a photo on Instagram showing it. Also, I did a Quick Look post at 6 of 7 shades.

When I wore it as a full manicure, Old Man Winter didn’t cut me any slack. On all the days I was wearing OPI Hey Baby, the only chances I had to photograph it were gloomy, overcast days.

(I don’t have any studio lighting setup, so it’s always more of a challenge in the winter capturing the natural light before I head out for work in the mornings or sometime on the weekends. Sure, I could buy daylight bulbs, but you know what? I just don’t want to. I’d rather rely on Mother Nature, since she has the best lighting. Hehe! And, thankfully, even though I live in Canada, it’s not forever winter!)

However, I think you’ll be able to get a good idea of the colour, since I shared photos of OPI Hey Baby in natural light and with my camera’s flash.
