Colour Alike Weekendowy Szal Swatches & Review

Colour Alike Weekendowy Szal Swatches & ReviewI really wanted Chanel Paradoxal, but couldn’t justify the high price tag because Revlon Perplex is a popular dupe.

Every time I ventured into a drugstore, I’d check the shelves of Revlon polishes. Nada! It was evading me on purpose!

Didn’t it know that I wanted to adopt it and bring it into my loving home where it could play with other friends? Guess not!

A while ago, I mentioned on Twitter how I was searching high and low for Revlon Perplex to no avail. Then the unexpected happened.

The clouds parted, the sun shone down, and Marta from ChitChat Nails flew in with her harp and halo. (Well, okay, I don’t know what she was wearing since we were on Twitter…but I’m convinced that she can fly. :P)

She mentioned this other polish, Colour Alike Weekendowy Szal that was also a dupe, but that wore better than the Revlon. And then…get this, she let me choose which one I wanted!

Since I’m not Polish, have never been to Poland, and don’t have any hook-ups in Poland, obviously I had to jump on Colour Alike! And boy did I jump on it like a kid jumps on their parents on Christmas morning, waking them up with squeals of joy!

Thank you so much, Marta, for sending me this bottle, a heartfelt card, another surprise, and for giving me this opportunity to try a new brand of lacquer! 😀 Continue reading

OPI Divine Swine Swatches & Review

OPI Divine Swine Swatches & ReviewAre you feeling glittered out yet? I’m not – hehe, but I’ll switch it up soon, so hang in there!

Today I present the 4th (and last) glitter polish I own from the upcoming OPI Muppets Collection – OPI Divine Swine!

It follows the same suit as 2 previous glitters I’ve showed you. But this time, the small glitter is magenta. I really like this one, but Rainbow Connection still gets top honours.

The name makes me laugh only because when I think of ‘divine swine’, I tend to think of bacon, so really this colour should be reddish.

Want to see this by itself and then layered over a bunch of colours? I have some swatches to share with you! Continue reading

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air Swatches & Review

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air Swatches & ReviewHere’s OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air, the 3rd glitter polish that I’m showcasing from the OPI Muppets Collection that’s coming to stores on November 1st.

The name for this one is cute. Kermit’s like a frog prince.

I’m picturing a green Will Smith, which isn’t cute, but whatever. And now I’m thinking about Carlton dancing to It’s Not Unusual. Hehe! 😛 (See the end of this post for a link for a YouTube clip.)

Since Carmela, one of Swatch And Learn’s regular visitors, showed great interest in seeing the green glitter, I obliged. And, well, you all know how I feel about green nail polish, right? 😉

This one like the others I’ve shown looks best when layered over another colour. If you don’t like rocking it solo, please check out my layering swatches later on in this post. Fresh Frog of Bel Air really transforms them and adds depth and obviously glitz.

I’m not quite ready to get off the glitter train just yet. But don’t worry – my stop’s coming up soon.

I don’t have all the colours in this collection, but there’s one more I’d like to show you eventually.

OPI Gone Gonzo! Swatches & Review

OPI Gone Gonzo Swatches & ReviewGuess what? I got the opportunity to wear OPI Gone Gonzo! from the upcoming OPI The Muppets Collection!

I showed you yesterday what a glittertastic polish Rainbow Connection is, and today I’m showing off this blue-and-silver glitter polish!

It’s actually more opaque than Rainbow Connection, although instead of a myriad of colours, Gone Gonzo! features only two. But it’s still pretty to me, and I don’t have any glitter polishes that are similar, so I’m thankful to have this in my collection now. 🙂

In this post, I’ll show you oodles of OPI Gone Gonzo swatches (of course) and show you what it looks like with just 1 coat as well as layered over several other polishes.

Hope this gives you a better idea of what to expect from Gone Gonzo! Is this one of the glitters on your list or does it get a pass? Continue reading

OPI Rainbow Connection Swatches & Review (Plus Glitter Polish Removal Tips)

OPI Rainbow Connection Swatches & ReviewOPI Rainbow Connection is the polish that I was most excited to see in person from the OPI The Muppets Collection for Holiday 2011. It was also the one I predicted that will be the first to sell out.

Now that I’ve worn it, I can firmly say that I still stand by that prediction. So when it’s released in stores on November 1st, try to snatch up Rainbow Connection before it’s too late.

With all the hype surrounding the new and old versions of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday, I already anticipated questions regarding if this is a dupe or not.

Further down the post, I will address this issue in greater detail, as well as the polish’s opacity and layering capabilities. I’ve also included swatches of my layering experiments. Continue reading

KleanColor Chunky Holo Purple Swatches & Review

KleanColor Chunky Holo Purple Swatches & ReviewA few weeks ago, I wore KleanColor Chunky Holo Purple 234 layered over OPI Can You Dig It?, and guess what? I forgot about the photos I took of it on my camera until now!

This combination was a winner for me, and I wore it for 7 days straight. I wanted to wear it longer, but with so many untried colours in my collection, I start feeling guilty if I wear the same manicure for more than a week. Does anyone else feel the same way?

You may remember that I previously reviewed some other colours in the KleanColor Chunky Holo Collection and said that Bluebell was incredible. It still is, but if you’re a fan of purple and you love a strong holographic-glitter polish, Chunky Holo Purple will steal your heart! Continue reading

Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight Swatches & Review

Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight Swatches & ReviewA few days ago, I found out that Orly got busy with Quo and had a nail-polish lovechild!

Do you know how excited I was when I saw that in my Shoppers Drug Mart flyer? *Holds arms apart as far as I can* That much!

On Friday, I rushed to the store to check out the display – I think there were 5 colours available. The purple and turquoise caught my eye, but I only picked up the latter, Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight to test it out. (I may go back for the purple. Still having an internal debate…but my ‘want’ usually wins.)

Although Swatch And Learn has waaaay more American visitors than Canadian visitors, being a Canadian myself, I had to share this amazing find with you all!

When it comes to formula and packaging, Orly is one of the polish brands I love. Quo is a brand that’s exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart and that’s easy for Canadians to get hold of. Enter Quo by Orly nail polish – it’s pure genius, and I’ve fallen in lust with this hue!
