Marcelle Vita-Lip Plumping Gloss Review – Desire

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Hate that sticky, tacky, drying goo that is some lip glosses? Yeah, me too. That’s why I normally stay away from wearing them. But that doesn’t mean I stay away from looking at and testing them whenever I can in hopes of finding one that has the right texture.

Cue Marcelle Vita-Lip Plumping Gloss in Desire. I tested this product on my hand inside the drugstore, thinking it’ll just be sticky like all other lip glosses. But it actually feels soft and, well, un-superglue-like. So off to the register I went. A decision that was mostly good, but a little bad… Continue reading

NYX Eyeshadow Swatches, Review & Pictures – NYX Mermaid Green, Hunter Green, Ocean & Kiwi

NYX Eyeshadows

Greens really add oomph to brown eyes and make them pop! I have more greens in my eye-shadow stash than any other color.

Today I’ll be treating you to NYX Eyeshadow. I’ll be reviewing these delicious greens: Mermaid Green, Hunter Green, and Kiwi. And since I have Ocean lying around, I added it just for the hell of it. Why not, right?

I’m ecstatic to review these because I’m a huge NYX cosmetics fan – this company puts out a lot of affordable makeup options that are right up there in quality when compared to higher-end brands. And the NYX Eye Shadows are no exception. Continue reading

Ooooh. Look how pretty these green eyeshadows are! That’s what I thought when I picked up the L’Oreal Paris HiP Metallic Shadow Duo in Gunmetal. My thoughts after I tried it? I’m singing (in my head) a different tune.

Don’t get me wrong – the L’Oreal HiP Metallic Shadow Duo isn’t going in the trash. And I would still use it on occasion. But it’s not my go-to shadow. Continue reading

Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Primer Review & Pictures – 0 Neutral

Make Up For Every HD High Definition PrimerMineral makeup is my first choice for everyday foundation. But sometimes the powder fades throughout the day or applies a little patchy just because certain parts of my face are drier or oilier than others. A good face primer create a smooth canvas so your makeup adheres better and lasts longer.

Instead of going for a low-end bargain brand, I decided to try one of the best-rated face primers on the market: Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Primer. After putting it to the test for almost a month and wearing it through the extreme humid weather we’ve had the last couple of weeks, I’m happy to report that unlike a mooching boyfriend, this baby’s a keeper! GOSH Extreme Art Eye Liner Review – Olive Green

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

When it comes to eyeliner (my #1 must makeup product), I usually go with pencils – they’re super easy to apply, easy to perfect, easy to smudge and easy to get creative.

But when I saw the GOSH Extreme Art Eye Liner in Olive Green, I just had to have it. It’s such a nice shade – deep enough to not be wild, yet bright enough to have impact. Plus, it has a slight sparkly shimmer to it. Oh, the depth of this color! Not to mention: it’s “Extremely Waterproof.” Yes, you read that right – EXTREMELY.

So how did it fare? Good! The GOSH Cosmetics Extreme Art Eye Liner has me rethinking liquid eyeliners. Continue reading

MAC Dazzle Lipstick Hellraiser Swatches & Review

MAC Dazzle Lipstick Hellraiser

Hellraiser is my favorite from the limited-edition MAC Digi-Dazzle Collection. This pretty light lavender has bluish glitter that makes your lips appear alive and boisterous. Think of it as a bling party for your lips without the gaudy disco ball.

Roll up the tube and you’ll see oodles of gorgeous sparkles that look great worn alone or with your favorite lipstick/lip gloss.

It transfers well on the lip without feeling gritty or rough, and surprisingly it’s not drying at all. Your lips feel lightly moisturized.

This performs like a glittery lip gloss without the stickiness, and you get a very sheer (almost unnoticeable) wash of color. You don’t have to worry about bright lavender lips with this one. Continue reading

Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara Review – Glam Black

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Declaration: I usually don’t bother with mascaras. I’ve tried many and didn’t like how heavy they feel, how they clumped, etc. etc. etc. But I decided to give the Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara a go when I saw it – I got sucked in by the bright and happy yellow packaging. Yes, I’m a sucka.

My thoughts? Not bad, but not perfect. Continue reading
