Why bother with liner brushes when you can just buy eyeliner? That’s what I used to think! Now I’m a convert and a believer of liner brushes. You get to transform unwanted eye shadows into beautiful liners, as well as get more-precise lines.

And I’m loving the Quo Liner/Brow Brush for this job. Find out why! Continue reading

Quo Angle Contour Brush Review

The Quo Angle Contour Brush is the first brush I ever bought. It took my brush virginity! But this is not something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Quo does make quality brushes, but I don’t like this one at all.

And I’ll tell you right off the bat why: the bristles are scratchy. But that’s not the only reason why I say no to this Quo contour brush. What else? Continue reading

Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush Review & Pictures

Two days ago, I showed you a dome-shaped kabuki. Today I’m going to share with you the best flat-top kabuki brush I’ve ever used – the Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush.

Sigma SS239 Brush Review & Pictures (Sigma E55 Brush Review & Pictures)

Sigma SS239 Brush Sigma E55 BrushI got the Sigma SS239 Brush in the Eyes Kit. Before you ask, yes, Sigma has recently changed the name of their brushes because they were heavily criticized for trying to copy MAC brushes right down to the name of the brushes. The Sigma SS239 Brush is now called the Sigma E55 Brush.

Out of all the eye-shadow brushes I own (Sigma or from other brands), the SS239 or E55 is hands down my favorite for packing color onto my eyelids. I would go so far as to even say that it’s my favorite brush to use. Period. Continue reading

Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush Review & Pictures

Too Faced Retractable Kabuki BrushWhen I first experimented with mineral makeup, my quest for the perfect kabuki brush began.

I scoured YouTube for reviews and stumbled upon a hilarious beauty guru who described the Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush as feeling so soft, it was “like being touched by Jesus”!

I knew I had to have it, and thanks to a very generous friend, I got this as a wonderful surprise for my birthday. Continue reading

Sigma Brushes Review & Pictures – Brand Overview

Sigma BrushesI’m going to let one of my makeup skeletons out of the closet. (Deep breath!) For years, I used only those sad sponge-tip applicators to apply eye shadow. (They’re great for packing on color, but not fantastic for blending.) Don’t pumice stone me! I’ve learned the error of my ways!

It was only about a year ago when I took the plunge and invested in makeup brushes…expensive ones from MAC Cosmetics that left my piggy bank squealing for mercy. Then I got wise to Sigma Brushes – same quality as MAC, but waaaay cheaper. Since I discovered Sigma brushes, I’ll never go back to buying MAC brushes. Continue reading

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

For months, I’ve wanted the Clarisonic Skincare Brush. But what if I don’t like it? That’s a whole lot of $$ down the drain. So I decided to first try the Sephora Face Complexion Brush, a manual version of the expensive electronic one. I don’t know what I had hoped. Whether I love it or hate it, wouldn’t it just make me want the Clarisonic one more?

The Sephora brush was definitely worth the buy for me, but not for the reasons you might think… Continue reading
