Cake Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme Review & Pictures

Cake Beauty Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme Review & PicturesExperiencing deja vu? Not quite! (I did previously review the Cake Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Bath & Shower Suds not too long ago.)

Today I bring you the Cake Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme! (This was also part of a Christmas present that my sister-in-law gave me.)

It’s extremely yummy-smelling, and considering that I’m not usually into strawberry scents, that’s saying a lot!

Sure, it was part of a limited-edition Strawberry Shortcake collection that Cake Beauty put out, but last week when I was browsing the clearance beauty products at a Sears store, I found one tier of a shelf full of discounted Cake Strawberry Shortcake products including this one! So, you may still have a chance to get it!

Cake Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme Review

Fragrance

The Cake Beauty Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme smells like strawberries with a lot of cream. It’s very comforting and soft without being powdery. And the strawberry scent is surprisingly very similar to the way that the actual Strawberry Shortcake doll used to smell…except the strawberry seems fresher and real.

A lot of strawberry scents give me a major headache, but this one didn’t. It’s light and pleasant.

Formula

The lotion is thin, but it’s not greasy even in the slightest. I really love the formula because it glides on easily and absorbs quicker than any other lotion I’ve tried.

After you’ve rubbed it into your skin, there’s no weird film…and you don’t have to rub and rub and rub for several minutes to get it to absorb. It literally absorbs in just a few seconds!

Moisturizing Efficacy

The Cake Beauty Strawberry Shortcake Decadent Hand Creme provides light hydration. It’s great for everyday use when you want to maintain healthy-looking skin and when your hands feel just slightly dry. If your hands are parched (like in the winter), I don’t think this is heavy-duty enough to heal your skin quick enough…unless you re-apply it numerous times maybe.

Packaging

I like the tube with the flip-up cap. And, duh, the picture of Strawberry Shortcake on the packaging is adorable!

The tube is small enough to throw into your purse, but it’s big enough so that you have a generous amount of product to last you for a long while.

Pros

  • Smells like delicious strawberries & cream
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Non-greasy
  • Cute packaging
  • Practical squeeze tube
Cons

  • Discontinued & can be hard to find (although I’ve spotted it on clearance recently at a Sears store, so you may still be able to find it if you’re lucky)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

When I need just light moisture, this is the hand cream I love to use because it smells soooooo good and when I look at the tube, the picture of Strawberry Shortcake reminds me of so many happy childhood memories. 🙂

What hand cream do you swear by? Do you prefer scented or unscented hand cream?

Edit: Yay! Cake tweeted about my blog post! 🙂

I keep buying scented hand creams, but for everyday use I end up with the unscented ones. Don’t like the scent to clash with my perfume, and I hate eating with scented hand cream on.

      Hey Barbara!

I really like Aveeno hand creams during the day. Then, when I go to bed or I’m at home relaxing, I bust out the scented creams. They’re a sweet pick-me-up also on the rare times when I don’t wear any perfume.

But I can understand how you wouldn’t want them to clash with your fragrance during the day. Haha, I made that mistake once when I tried out a mango lotion and was wearing my Britney Spears Fantasy eau de parfum. The combination was so nasty! 😛 Oops!

      Hey Andrea!

Solid perfumes are so cool. Wish that more of my favourite scents came in a solid form. They’re so handy – I’d put them in my purse and apply them on my way to work. They’d save me so much time in the mornings when I’m always rushing.

Did you know that in Mexico Stawberry Shortcake was Rosita Fresa (Little Rosie Strawberry)? I learned this after I kept seeing signs with her on them and asked a Mexican friend why she was around so much. “Oh, you mean Rosita Fresa?” he asked, when I described her look. Many cartoon characters are used as decorations on storefronts in Mexico, so it’s only fair that “Rosita” gets a turn!

The lotion sounds like an intriguing odor. I don’t like super sweet scents but this might be subtle enogh for me. I have to go return some stuff at Sears anyway, so I will probably look for it then.

      Hey Another Cristina!

No, I had no idea – that’s a very interesting tidbit!

Hope you can find it in the Sears clearance section. It varies from Sears to Sears, but I wonder if you ask the sales staff to ship it to a store near you, if they can do it.
