During the Bath & Body Works’ Semi-Annual Sale, I definitely did some damage. It’s hard to pass up a really good deal on stuff that you can use on a daily basis.
One of the things I got was the Bath & Body Works Pearberry Shower Gel!
I use shower gel exclusively with a fluffy mesh sponge. I could never go back to using bar soap like I did when I was a child!
You may remember that I reviewed the hand soap in the same scent not long ago. It was love. But was this love, too? You’re about to find out!

Bath & Body Works Pearberry Shower Gel Review
I’m happy to report that the delicious scent truly smells of pears and strawberries! 🙂
According to Bath & Body Works, the top notes are cantaloupe and pineapple, the middle notes are pear and lily of the valley, and the base note is musk.
While I can detect most of those scents in their subtlety if I try really hard, the main things I smell are pears and then strawberries.
I was surprised to see musk listed because I associate that with heavy scents (and this one’s totally not heavy)…but I guess you can smell it verrrrry faintly. I would say, though, that the Pearberry shower gel is predominantly a fruity scent and not really a musky one.
When you get out of the shower and dry your skin, you can smell the scent linger very faintly. It’s soft and goes away pretty quickly. I like this because I just want to enjoy the scent in the shower. Afterwards, I prefer my eau de parfum to not be interrupted.
As with all the shower gels I’ve tried from Bath & Body Works, this one is no exception – it cleans very well. Your skin doesn’t feel like it has any residue on it. (You know how some moisturizing shower gels leave behind a greasy feeling sometimes? I really dislike that because it makes you feel dirty even though you just showered!)
When you use a mesh sponge, you only need to use a small amount of the shower gel to build up a rich lather.
Unfortunately, Pearberry is one of their “Classic” scents that only seems to make an in-store appearance during Semi-Annual Sales. (Those are the best times to buy it anyway because it sells for much less than usual.) If, however, you absolutely can’t wait (c’mon…patience, grasshopper!), then you can order it online. From what I understand, they keep it on their website all year round.
Final Verdict: 10/10
This scent is pure love for me. It’s fruity and sweet, but not artificial-smelling. No, it doesn’t bump down my ultimate favourite shower gel (Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel Shower Gel), but it holds a solid second place!
If you like juicy-pear fragrances and want a shower gel that smells edible, this is it! 🙂
