Orly Sapphire Silk Swatches & Review

Orly Sapphire Silk Swatches & ReviewOrly Sapphire Silk is from the Precious Collection back in 2011. Since purchasing it when it was first released, I’ve worn it several times solo and once under Clarins 230.

It’s safe to say that I’m very much attracted to this blue nail polish.

Originally, I purchased it because it was rumoured to be a dupe for MAC Blue India (which I don’t own, but liked).

(You can Google comparison swatches to see what they look like side-by-side.)

After buying Sapphire Silk, I had absolutely no desire to track down Blue India. It squashed that lemming, which is good because Orly is way more affordable than MAC.

Zoya Suri Swatches & Review

Zoya Suri Swatches & ReviewGuess what I found while going through some old folders on my computer? Zoya Suri from the NYFW 2012 Collection!

Although I forgot to review it on here earlier, what I do remember is really loving this manicure.

You really can’t go wrong with a saturated purple.

This is the case for me, and that’s probably why when I first got into nail polish more seriously, purple was the shade I turned to. It was like an old friend who never lets you down.

Do you feel the same way about a certain colour? And what general hue made you take polish more seriously?

Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle Swatches & Review (Layered Over China Glaze Prey Tell)

Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle Swatches & ReviewWhat’s my ‘lazy nailphile’ trick for sprucing up a tired manicure? Slap on a coat of crazy glitter!

However, sometimes I’m in the mood for glitter right off the bat, and I go to town!

The latter was the case here. This manicure was a major pick-me-up, and I couldn’t get enough of it!

This is Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle (from the Selena Gomez Collection coming to stores in 2013) layered over China Glaze Prey Tell (from the On Safari Collection that’s been out for a while.)

My first instinct was to layer it over a black, but I wanted to give it a slight twist, so I went for the vampy burgundy.

P.S. With today’s post, I’ve now reviewed every single colour (except for one) in the Selena Gomez Collection. Check out the above link to see my other reviews.

Illamasqua Raindrops Swatches & Review

Illamasqua Raindrops Swatches & ReviewHaha, unless you drank a lot of liquid and need to use the washroom, one of the most soothing sounds is the rain.

Illamasqua Raindrops is a special grey nail polish that was discontinued in the past.

However, Illamasqua listened to all their customers and brought this shade back from the dead!

Good news for you! In 2013, it’ll be available for sale again. So…there’s no need to stalk eBay or pay highly inflated prices!

P.S. After reading the cute handwritten note accompanying this polish, I was so excited, I literally tore open the package and quickly painted my nails like a possessed polish addict. (Sometimes nailphiles let emotions get the better of us…haha!) Despite my flawed application, I still enjoyed wearing this manicure for a couple of days and didn’t bother ‘fixing’ my mistakes. 🙂 Remember the philosophy I keep harping about on here: happiness is more important than perfection.

Smorgasbord Sundays: Coffee, Biscotti & Pumpkin Pie Syrup

President's Choice Candy Cane CoffeeA few Smorgasbord Sundays ago, I blogged about my first Keurig coffee maker. Since then, I’ve used it quite a bit – it’s handy!

While doing my usual grocery shopping, I came across some really interesting coffee and biscotti.

What I found was so different that I felt compelled to blog about it today!

(Note to readers: This post was written by Mary’s stomach…hehe!)

Also, I found a Canadian website that sells tons of K-Cups for the Keurig (as well as pumpkin-pie syrup) that I wasn’t able to find in stores.

I’m really excited to show you this food/beverage ‘haul’…haha!

China Glaze Modify Me Swatches & Review

China Glaze Modify Me Swatches & Review The whole concept behind the China Glaze Tranzitions Collection is intriguing. With the same bottle of polish, you can achieve two different colours by wearing it solo or putting on a clear top coat.

China Glaze Modify Me is the first shade I tried. I had so much fun seeing the colour change before my very eyes – it made me feel like I was pulling a nail-polish rabbit out of a ‘hat’. Ta-da!

I think this nail polish would knock the socks off The Highlander…because, y’know, ‘there can be only one’ no longer applies. 😉

When I wear this again, I think I’ll do a funky dotticure, but for this manicure, I kept it simple so that I could really pay attention to the two colours and report back to you all on what I noticed.
