4 New Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers for 2013 Press Release & Promo Pictures

4 New Nicole by OPI Lacquers for 2013Yesterday, I showed you the press release and promo pictures for the Nicole by OPI Modern Family Collection.

Today is another ‘press release day’. This time, it’s to show youĀ 4 New Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers for 2013!

The pink and red ones are very timely, especially because Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Are you ready for Cupid? šŸ˜‰

But it’s the dark shades that my eye was drawn to first. The black in particular intrigues me. I wonder if it’ll be a one-coater. (Currently, my favourite black polish is China Glaze Liquid Leather.)

Out of these 4 hues, which got your attention first?

Nicole by OPI Modern Family Collection Press Release & Promo Pictures

Nicole by OPI Modern Family Collection Press Release & Promo PicturesWow! TheĀ Nicole by OPI Modern Family CollectionĀ contains 14 (count ’em) nail polishes!

I’m really happy to see that the Modern Family Collection contains a wide variety of colours and finishes. (I whipped up a simple little collage so you could see all the colours together.)

Which stood out to me?Ā Am I Making Myself Claire? (lilac), She’s Lily Something (star glitter), Stand by Your Manny (periwinkle), Alex by the Books (seafoam green), and Candid Cameron (teal)!

I haven’t seen any in person yet, but from online swatches that have been popping up, they look great!

(Hey, interesting how after I’ve been mentioning recently that there aren’t many periwinkle polishes, I’ve noticed that more new collections actually contain a periwinkle! YAYYYY!)

So…do you watch Modern Family? I’ll admit it – I’ve never seen a single episode! Am I the only odd one out?

Although I haven’t been following anything regularly, I’ve been checking out Parks & Recreation, The Soup, The Colbert Report, American Idol, and The Carrie Diaries when I do turn on the TV.

As you can tell, I prefer to watch light-hearted stuff. It distracts from the bad things you hear about in the news like gruesome discoveries of dismembered bodies. *Shivers*

Watching the news makes me feel uncomfortable and sad. Sure, I like to be ‘in the loop’ of the world around me, but to a certain degree. I dislike reports of accidents, deaths, and violence. Sadly, I keep up more with entertainment news than actual news…

I’m also not really into medical dramas or murder mysteries (unless it’s a classic gem like re-runs of Columbo! Love Peter Falk and his series!).

But…back to the polish, right? Which of these colours interest you the most? And, for those of you who watch Modern Family, which is the ‘punniest’ polish name you like?

OPI Sprung Swatches & Review

OPI Sprung Swatches & ReviewOPI Sprung is a nail polish that I think is actually the perfect fall shade, even though it came out earlier this month as part of the Mariah Carey Collection.

If you are a fan of OPI Warm & Fozzie like I am, chances are that you’ll also fall head over heels for OPI Sprung as well.

No, they’re not dupes, but they have a similar duochrome metallic shimmer that’s totally blingy. (Click the above link for my review and photos of Warm & Fozzie to see what I mean. It’s more like OPI Sprung’s sibling instead of twin.)

P.S.Ā As of today, I’ve reviewed and photographed every single nail polish in the OPI Mariah Carey Collection except for Anti-Bleak (which I don’t own)! Hmm…I probably won’t buy that because the colour doesn’t stand out to me. Then again, the lacquer collector in me is considering getting it just so that I’ll have a complete set…

OPI Glints of Glinda Swatches & Review

OPI Glints of Glinda Swatches & ReviewMy cuticles may be as dry as the Sahara Desert, and the yellow I sported earlier may have slightly stained my cuticles a bit, but I hope that you can overlook all that and concentrate on the Soft Shade beauty that isĀ OPI Glints of GlindaĀ from the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection.

You know that I prefer manicures that whallop gongs rather than tap the triangle, but something about this nail polish wooed me.

This is the closest to Mannequin Hands that I’ve ever had. I’ve long admired the look on others, but all the softer colours I’ve tried were either too light, too dark, or too yellow.

OPI Glints of Glinda isn’t a perfect match to my skin tone, but it was close enough that I felt comfortable and happy sporting it!

Out of all the 3 delicate shades in the Oz Collection, this is the one that I can picture myself wearing many times. I think it’ll be a great palate cleanser in between the bold shades I usually sport.

China Glaze Mosaic Madness Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights)

China Glaze Mosaic Madness Swatches & ReviewThe China Glaze Glitz Bitz ‘n Pieces Collection officially comes out in February, and my oh my does it look like such a fun concept!

It was hard to pick which one to try first (yeah, Nailphile Problems!). Eventually, I decided on layering China Glaze Mosaic MadnessĀ over a fun yellow – Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights from the Selena Gomez Collection.

As you know, I love bold, in-your-face manicures, so I was going for a high-contrast look here.

The layering possibilities are endless. You could do a tone-on-tone look or even put a metallic underneath for two completely different effects.

Smorgasbord Sundays: Still Not Feeling 100% Yet

Tylenol Complete Extra StrengthLast weekend, I got really sick and came down with the flu. Then, on Tuesday, I started to feel well enough to go back to work at the office, but I still wasn’t feeling 100%.

It must be a sign that I’m getting older because my body isn’t bouncing back to good health as quickly as it used to.

While I’m definitely not feverish or coughing anymore, I still have a weird light-headedness and crippling headache plus a lot of mucus in my nose and throat. Nasty, I know! (When I spoke to my mom on the phone, she said that I sounded like a duck!)

The weather really took a dip, and it’s been absolutely freezing, so I think that’s also a contributing factor to me not being able to shake this illness.

OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble Swatches & Review

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble Swatches & ReviewOPI Don’t Burst My BubbleĀ is one of the three soft shades in the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection.

It’s whiter and milkier than OPI I Theodora You, but pinker than Glints of Glinda.

I wore this manicure for about 3-4 days. That’s probably surprising because vibrant shades are my thing.

Haha, but the reason why my manicure turnaround time was slower was because I had been feeling too ill to paint my nails! (I only started feeling well enough to put in the effort to paint my nails again on Thursday.)

While wearing OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble, I actually grew to appreciate it more. It’s clean and fresh. However, since I wore this when I was trying to get over the flu, unfortunately my mind has associated it with illness! It’s a pretty, sweet shade, but it was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. šŸ˜‰
