a-england The Blessed Damozel Swatches & Review

A-England The Blessed Damozel Swatches & Reviewa-england The Blessed Damozel is a fierce royal purple that hails from the Heavenly Quotes Collection.

This is one of the deep shades that I like to sport when I’m in the mood for assertive nails that exclaim with a trumpet flourish, “I’m here, and I’m ready to lead a nail-polish army to victory!”

I’ve set my expectations for a-england nail polishes extraordinarily high because every single bottle I own has a flawless formula and incredible colour payoff. (I have yet to wear one that didn’t impress me with its high quality and consistency!)

One look at this photo should explain why I love this polish, but, as usual, I’ve included tons of swatches in different lighting in this post to give you a better feel for its charismatic personality.

a-england The Blessed Damozel Review

Colour

The Blessed Damozel by a-england is one of those rare polishes that has a consistent colour, whether you look at it in bright artificial light or in natural daylight.

It’s a dark and moody purple that screams royalty! (When I wore this, I thought that my nails looked regal because of how luxurious and rich the shade is.)

Finish

The finish is on the metallic side, but it’s a softer one.

It has the type of high-shine finish that, even before I applied a glossy top coat, I could see my reflection in my nails! Totally have a soft spot for finishes like this because they make your manicures look ‘wet’ and freshly done.

Application & Formula

Well, a-england has done it again! The formula is heavenly – exactly what I’ve come to expect from a-england. (They didn’t let me down!)

It’s super smooth and insanely pigmented! One coat covered completely, but, as usual, I wore two coats out of habit. (From the first to second medium coat, the colour didn’t change much, so that’s why I think it’s a one-coater.)

Also worth noting is that (despite being heavily pigmented) this dark purple didn’t stain my nails. It surprised me because I was almost sure that it would!

Ingredients

Looking for healthier nail polish? This one fits the bill! All a-england nail polishes are free of Toluene, DBP, and Formaldehyde.

Animal-Friendliness

You can enjoy the beautiful colour without any guilt because a-england nail polishes are cruelty-free.

Pros

  • Rich, regal purple
  • Smooth formulation
  • High-shine finish
  • Insanely pigmented (One-coater)
  • No Toluene, DBP, or Formaldehyde
  • Cruelty-free

Cons

  • If you don’t like shopping online, I’m not sure where you can purchase a-england nail polishes in Canadian brick-and-mortar stores.

Final Verdict: 10/10

I don’t throw around a Perfect 10 to many nail polishes, but a-england The Blessed Damozel certainly worked hard to earn that Final Verdict!

All around (pigmentation, formula, colour), I was blown away! a-england is in the top echelon of nail-polish companies that is consistent with their quality, and I appreciate that. It shows you that they put a lot of care into developing the product, rather than just being the first to churn out a colour. (For me, quality always wins over quantity.)

Which nail-polish brand do you feel is the most consistent with their quality? Do you buy your nail polishes online, in-store, or both? What are some one-coaters that you’ve come across?

Well, I had to do it… I found a vendor that sells A England polishes and bought The Blessed Damozel, plus Saint George (a teal holo) and Fotheringhay Castle (a lovely olive green — as a green fiend, Mary, I’m wondering if you have that one?). I could’ve easily bought double or triple the amount, but I had to restrain myself. It looks like a real quality brand and I can’t wait to try them! 🙂

        Hey Mary!

I have Saint George, but not that other green! I need to look into it! Thanks for letting me know because olive greens are some of my favourite kinds to wear! 🙂

Haha, I know what you mean about a-england polishes. They have so many incredible shades, and the formulations are wonderfully easy to apply! It’s hard to resist snatching them ALL up! 😉

      Hey Mary!

a-england’s nail polishes are always so smooth and pigmented. Even on it’s own, you’re right, it’s like glass! I consider this to be a REAL luxury polish because the formula is spot-on. Even some polishes that claim to be “luxury” ones don’t live up to the flawlessness of a-england, I find!

I agree with you–A-England is definitely a top-quality brand. The colors they release always have a unique inspiration, and the formula is consistently excellent.
