OPI Swiss Collection Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous Review & Swatches

There’s a place in my heart for metallic silvers. The bright reflection has a cool, sexy vibe, while the steel color represents strength. Cool, sexy, and strong – I love it. So naturally, like a magnet, I was drawn to OPI Swiss Collection Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous.

Like this color, I do. Love it, I don’t. It’s slightly more interesting than the run-of-the-mill silvers/glossy grays/gunmetal shades. It’s a good staple color to have in the collection, but it doesn’t wow me as much as I thought it would. I was a bit disappointed.

OPI Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous Review

In the bottle, OPI Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous looks…marvelous. The color is a rich gray that borders on a dark charcoal. On the nail, however, it’s a lighter, much-duller gray. There’s nothing wrong with that, just not what I like.

When I say dull, I just mean the color itself, not the finish. You do get a glitzy shine with OPI Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous. It’s like a party of glitter on the nail, complemented by a glossy foil finish. I feel like my fingers light up every time my nails catch the light.

OPI Swiss Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous is a super sheer color though. I had to build up 3 coats in order to get a more-opaque finish on my nails. Or you can also try layering this over another color for more depth and interest.

What I’m loving about the OPI Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous nail color is the formula. It’s smooth as liquid silver – it’s like it literally applies itself! Even if you have unsteady hands, the formula evens itself out on the nail so there’s never any streakiness.

And even though there’s lots of glitter, it dries completely smooth. No grittiness here. This means you can use a thinner top coat and still get a beautiful-looking mani.

I didn’t have time to change my nail color this week, so I’ve been sporting this color for 9 full days now. And it’s still in full swing! Normally, the chipping and tip wear would force me to make time to change nail colors. Not this one though!

    Pros
  • Glittery but not gritty
  • Easy to apply
  • Interesting foil finish
  • Long lasting
    Cons
  • Color is just OK
  • Too sheer

Final Verdict: 7/10

OPI Swiss Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous doesn’t appeal to me, but only because of the underlying shade… so I’m not going to bust it. But it doesn’t make me want to stare at my nails all day.

What do you think? Is this your cup of tea?
