Oh my stars – the Zoya Urban Grunge Collection Metallic Holos are a sight to behold!
Officially launching on August 15 on Zoya’s website, the collection features an intense twinkling effect without the chunkiness you’d get with glitter.
Make sure you have something to wipe down your computer or cell phone because, if you’re like me, you are going to drool over these sparkly wonders.
All of them come alive on your nails and ignite like a crackling fire. They’re the kind of nail polishes that can distract you easily and make you check out your nails throughout the day.
Merida (green), Finley (purple), Britta (plum), and Ash (red) were my favourites from the Zoya Urban Grunge Collection because they were rich shades that pop!
The formula on these was excellent. I only needed to use two coats for all of them to achieve full opacity, with the exception of Alicia (silver and gold), which I used three coats.
As per usual, the pigmentation and consistency of Zoya nail polish is consistent and top-notch. They were all smooth and easy to paint with – as easy as cremes! They also have a forgiving formula, so you can paint over the same section a few times to even things out.
There are 12 shades in the Zoya Urban Grunge Collection. They’re broken down into two sets: Metallic Holos and One Coat Creams.
There are six Metallic Holos:
- Alicia
- Troy
- Merida
- Finley
- Britta
- Ash
There are six One Coat Creams:
- August
- Mallory
- Tara
- Courtney
- Wyatt
- Noah

Which are your favourites from the Zoya Urban Grunge Collection (Metallic Holos)? Does Zoya make a nail polish with your name? (Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I have yet to see a Zoya nail polish called Mary! I’m hoping that when they come out with one, it’ll be green!) 😉
They’re all gorgeous, but Merida and Finley are calling my name! I’m going to have to get those as soon as I see them in my local Ulta. Too pretty! Thanks for sharing the swatches with us. As always, your nails look amazing!
Hey Melissa!
This whole collection has me swooning! Plus the formulas are top-notch, as I’ve come to expect from Zoya.
Serious question:
Alicia is the only one that really looks like it could be a holo. Are the others truly such? I am not seeing it, but it could be the screens.
Hey Debi!
Of the Metallic Holos, the ones that are truly holos are Alicia, Merida, and Finley.
It’s more apparent to the naked eye. (Holos have always been tricky for me to capture with my standard artificial light. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to photograph them in direct sunlight by the time I came home from work. However, if I review any of them in-depth for a separate post, I will definitely try to capture it in direct sunlight, so hopefully you can see the holo a bit better.)
They are definitely holo, in that they have a rainbow look to them. However, holos are notoriously tricky to capture in a photograph, especially when using standard artificial light.
I love these as I do all of Zoya’s polishes. Like you Mary, I am waiting for them to come out with Karen. Just hope it is not too “wild” a color!!
Hey Karen!
Wow, you’d think that for traditional names like ours, Zoya would’ve already had a polish for them. 🙂 It’s exciting, though, because we get to anticipate what the colours will be. (I would probably buy two bottles when a Zoya Mary comes out.)
Britta and Troy are gorgeous!
BTW I started collecting nail polishes with my name on them since Zoya Valentina.))
Hey Valentina!
So cool that there are polishes with your name! (By the way, your name is so pretty!)
All gorgeous but Ash has my heart…glad to finally see them swatched:)
Hey Mollie!
Thanks for patiently waiting to see my swatches! 🙂 Once they arrived, I swatched them as quickly as possible…that is, after I wiped the drool from my mouth. 😉
A bit dissapointed in Ash, i’m not seeing a lot of holo. It looks more like a glitter.
Hey Anouk!
Out of these six polishes, the ones with a true holo effect are: Merida, Finley, and Alicia.
Holos are tricky for me to capture with artificial light, but if I review any of these in-depth, I’ll make it a point to also show them in direct sunlight…to hopefully coax the camera to capture the magic. 😉
Green is not my color, but Merida looks dark enough that it could be worn as an alternative to black. I haven’t seen it in real life yet. I hope I’m not disappointed!
Hey Margot!
Oh, you won’t be disappointed with Merida! It’s a very pretty evergreen. Also, the holo in that one is beautiful and very obvious! Also, I can see this as being a fantastic festive polish that you would love pulling out during Christmas. It’s so gorgeous, and the formula is top-notch.
I think I’m gonna need all of these! Your swatches are gorgeous!!
Hey Barbara!
Aww, thank you! Glad that you enjoyed my swatches. It’s always fun sharing a passion with like-minded nail-polish enthusiasts! 😉
Gorgeous swatches! I’m definitely getting Merida. What top coat do you use? So shiny!!! Thanks! 🙂
Hey Stephanie!
In most of my reviews, I use Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, but in this post, I used the Zoya Armour Top Coat.
Zoya finally came out with “Sue” with the new set of Matte Velvet colors last year, and it’s completely and totally boring, at least I thought so. But then I am not a fan of pale colors or nudes.
Hey Sue!
Aww, that’s unfortunate that the nail polish with your name doesn’t appeal to you. (I’m still waiting for them to release a polish called Mary. Hope it’s green!) 😉
