CND Rescue Kit Review

CND Rescue Kit

First thing’s first! To my U.S. readers, I wish you a Happy July 4th today. Hope that you’re having a great time with your loved ones!

Recently, I had the pleasure of trying out the CND Rescue Kit, which contains a lot of manicure essentials including nail treatments.

In this post, I’ll share with you more information of each of the following, as well as quick swatches of the nail colours:

  • CND Vinylux nail polishes: Date Night, Be Demure, Desert Poppy & Lavender Lace
  • CND RescueRXx Daily Keratin Treatment
  • CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat
  • CND SolarOil
  • CND Cuticle Eraser
  • CND ScrubFresh
  • CND Koala Buffer

If there’s a specific item that you’d like to see me review in-depth for a separate post, let me know!

CND Vinylux Date Night

Highly pigmented, CND Vinylux Date Night is a medium blue creme that goes on smoothly and evenly. It didn’t stain my nails or my cuticles upon removal.

CND Vinylux Be Demure

I was really impressed with how pigmented CND Vinylux Be Demure is. Normally light colours can be sheer and tend to need more coats to achieve the desired coverage. This one went on strong right off the bat!

CND Vinylux Desert Poppy

CND Vinylux Desert Poppy is a punchy orange with subtle shimmer that is more prominent in the bottle than on my nails. It is a great summer colour!

CND Vinylux Lavender Lace

I don’t usually wear pale lilacs like CND Vinylux Lavender Lace, but I was curious to test this one out. It has soft shimmer that keeps the finished look from appearing flat, but it’s very subtle.

This shade would look better on those with cool skin tones. (I have a warm undertone, so I find that I can’t pull off colours like this too well.)

CND RescueRXx Daily Keratin Treatment

If you have weak, peeling nails and/or white spots, the CND RescueRXx Daily Keratin Treatment promises to dramatically reduce them.

It’s formulated to be safe to use on a daily basis, twice a day. It goes on with a brush like nail polish, and it helps to repair damaged nails, thanks to the Keratin protein it contains. Plus it also has jojoba oil, which is known to deliver hydrating benefits.

After you apply it, you massage it into your nails and on your cuticles.

My nails are naturally strong, due to genetics. I’m probably not the best candidate to test out this product, as those with weaker nails would probably see a bigger improvement. However, I did notice that my nails appeared less dry, so this gets the thumbs up!

CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat

Designed to be used in conjunction with the CND Vinylux colourful nail polishes, the Weekly Top Coat adds a clear, glossy shine and helps to lock in your manicure for up to seven days of wear and resist chipping.

It dries quickly, and it’s formulated to cure with natural light to increase your manicure’s durability.

The formulation is thinner, so it’s not as goopy as fast-drying top coats like Seche Vite.

CND SolarOil

Unfortunately, I am a big slacker when it comes to moisturizing my cuticles, but I’m trying to get better at this. The more regularly you hydrate your cuticles with oil, the better your manicures will look, especially later in the winter when the cold air is so harsh.

CND SolarOil keeps your nails from feeling and looking brittle, as well as softens and hydrates your cuticles, thanks to the infusion of Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil.

CND Cuticle Eraser

Housed in a convenient tube, it contains a micro-exfoliator that’s creamy and that contains AHAs. It helps to prevent those annoying hangnails and to hydrate your cuticles.

CND ScrubFresh

Before you paint your nails, it’s important that the surface of your nails is clean and free of any oils. This is how you can ensure that you get the best manicure mileage.

CND ScrubFresh cleans and dries the nail plate, preparing it for polish. It helps the lacquer to adhere to your nails.

I like to put some on a cotton ball or cotton pad and wipe my nails with it.

The CND Rescue Kit also contained a large Koala Buffer.

One side had a medium grit, and the other was fine and smooth.

      Hey Martha!

The cuticle eraser is to be used on a daily basis, as it’s quite gentle. It also smells like candy to me! 🙂 Although it works well, it isn’t as powerful as a cuticle remover.

I have only tried one cuticle remover before, and it was the kind where you leave it on for a minute and then it softens the cuticle, so you can scrape it off gently. This cuticle eraser is more like a gentle exfoliator. It helps to get rid of the excess that’s built up daily, but I wouldn’t call the one in this post heavy duty.

      Hope that helps!

Solar oil is everything! Whenever I remove polish I cover my entire nail and let it sit a couple of minutes before washing off and applying base coat. I also put in on my face daily, and, very lightly, on my hair from time to time. Good stuff. I worried that the scrub fresh would be overdrying and would weaken the nails. What are your thoughts about that?

      Hey Eleanor!

Great to hear that you’re also enjoying SolarOil! 😀 Each time I’ve used it, I notice a big difference, especially since my cuticles tend to be on the dry side.

ScrubFresh is meant to dry the nail plate and remove excess oil, so if your nails are already on the extremely dry and brittle side, you could use it every other manicure to be on the safe side. However, if your nails are average to extremely healthy, I don’t think it’s so harsh that it would overdry your nails.

You really only need to use a small amount to do all of your nails. I put some on a cotton pad and used the same pad to wipe all ten nails briefly.
