Panorea Skin + Spa Review

Panorea Skin and Spa TorontoMother’s Day is coming up!

Are you ready to make Mom feel like a queen for a day?

A while ago, my mom and I enjoyed our first spa experience at a Toronto skincare spa called Panorea Skin + Spa.

Panorea Skin + Spa has been family owned and operated since 1981, and it was named after a real woman called Panorea. (I think it’s a beautiful name and one that I have never come across in my circles.)

We went to this Toronto spa when it was located at 416 Bloor Street West, but they’ve recently relocated to 853 Bathurst Street. (Their new location is north of Bathurst Station on the east side. Look for their green planters!)

They offer all the spa treatments you could want from hair removal, eyelash tinting, and custom facials to manicures, pedicures, and skin consultation.

If you’re curious, their prices and services are conveniently listed here on the Panorea Skin + Spa website where you can also book your appointment online.

By the way, I saw on their website that they’re running a Manicure/Pedicure Special for $55 CAD when you book from Monday to Wednesday. (Also, this spa offers CND Shellac nail polish, but I also noticed a wide variety of Nubar nail polishes in the back. Hehe, you know this nailphile would spot the lacquer quickly, right?)

Other ways to contact them:

  • E-mail: info@panorea.ca
  • Phone: (416) 530-0781
  • The handy web form at the bottom of their website

During our spa visit, we met Louis and Shantel, who are shown in the above photo.

Louis is Panorea’s son, and we chit chatted a little bit. He’s very friendly, and I could feel his passion for skincare right from the beginning! Plus he obviously walks the walk, since the dude has the smoothest and most even complexion that I’ve ever seen on a man in a long time. I could tell that he takes extremely good care of his skin!

When I commented on how healthy his skin looked, he flashed a charming smile and attributed it to his mother teaching him how to care for his skin at an early age.

I agree – prevention is the key! Wear good sunscreen all the time, and don’t neglect your skin!

Shantel, the esthetician who would perform the facials, had a calm demeanour, which made it easy to relax. After going over the forms we filled out based on our skin concerns and the products we used, she suggested specific Dr. Renaud skincare products and spa facials that we would benefit the most from.

She was very knowledgeable and patient, offering advice and answering our constant string of curious questions. (Remember, it was our first ever spa trip, so everything was new to us!)

In the rest of this post, I will go into more detail about our Panorea Skin + Spa experience. Come along because I’ll also share some photos of my mom during her collagen-infused facial.

The below photo was taken outside of their previous location on Bloor Street West:

Panorea Skin Spa

Before beginning any of the treatments, Shantel showed us a really cool machine. You put your head inside, and with the special black light, it would show off the areas that were dry or that needed some tender loving care.

Hehe, I was nervous to see my results because, back then, it was the winter, so my skin was on the parched side. Seeing the dry areas lighted up instantly convinced me to up my water intake on a daily basis and to use more moisturizer! (Initially, I was going to take a photo and share it with you, but I think I’ll save you from having nightmares. Haha!) 😉

My mom, on the other hand, is in her 70s, and she has the kind of skin that’s every esthetician’s dream! Not only does my mom drink tons of water regularly, but she also moisturizes her face like it’s going out of style. Her results in that machine were incredibly good, even when compared to me, and I’m in my 30s!

Sometimes people with so many freckles like my mom have sun-related damage, but my mom’s skin was really good, and Shantel was impressed. She even said that she hopes that her skin will be as good as my mom’s when she’s in her 70s!

The Signature Facial at Panorea Skin + Spa

Shantel gathered several professional-grade Dr. Renaud Laboratoire skincare products to use in our Signature Facial. (My mom got ones suitable for her skin, and I got other ones more suitable for me.)

The Signature Facial is customized to your skin type, so you can get the most benefits as it addresses your specific concerns.

It involves:

  • A deep-pore cleanse
  • Exfoliation
  • Extractions (if needed)
  • Décolleté massage
  • Mask

My mom didn’t need any extractions, but I got extractions on my nose. This was the first time I ever had that done. (In the past, I had used Biore nose strips you can buy in the drugstore, but I have never used a comedone extractor.)

Shantel said that my pores were very small, so I guess that’s good since if your pores are larger, they can trap more dirt and oil.

The exfoliation was a chemical one, so it didn’t involve harsh rubbing like the ones you find at the drugstore that have granules in it. I really liked this because it did the job in minutes, and it wasn’t rough on your skin. Even afterwards, my skin didn’t feel tight and dry.

My mom’s facial targeted wrinkles and anti-aging treatments with collagen, whereas mine was more to boost hydration and prevent fine lines.

When I first entered the spa, I remember that my skin was feeling a bit uncomfortably dry, due to the winter weather, but by the time I left, it felt plump, comfortable, and well-hydrated!

At the end, Louis and Shantel were generous to provide us with a bag full of Dr. Renaud Laboratoire professional skincare, so that we could continue the treatment at home! That was so nice, and I plan to do a detailed review on at least one of the products in the future, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

(These products were in addition to the ones I shared with you in my Dr. Renaud Laboratoire skincare blog post, where I gave you a little overview.)

Now for the photos!

I took a few photos of my mom during her facial. (Hehe, don’t worry – I got her permission to post these on the website! She was brave to let me do this. Braver than me!) 😉

The lighting for these photos isn’t the best because I wasn’t exactly going to use the flash with my camera and spoil her relaxing experience!

My mom getting pampered at a spa for the first time!

At this point, she didn’t even know that I took this photo. It’s clear to see that she’s really enjoying her facial!

The damp cotton squares were put over her eyes, and she rested like this for a few minutes. My mom found it to be very relaxing!

I believe these were the collagen patches. They’re used to target the areas where wrinkles form. When I showed my mom this photo of her afterwards, we both laughed. She looks like a warrior getting ready to do battle!

The sheet mask added more facial benefits, and she kept this on for a few minutes, so that it would take its full affect. Afterwards, my mom felt that her skin was very hydrated, and I also agree. I mean, she always has amazing skin, but this boosted it to a whole other level!

A huge thank you to Louis and Shantel for making our first-ever spa experience so enjoyable!

My mom and I both noticed an improvement in our skin right after the facials, and we’re loving the Dr. Renaud Laboratoire professional skincare that you gifted us with.

If you’re in Toronto, I highly recommend you try out Panorea Skin + Spa at 853 Bathurst Street because not only is the staff warm and friendly, but within just minutes, they’ll help to improve your skin with their treatments!

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. My mom and I were cordially invited for this complimentary spa day by PR.

      Hey Melissa!

The pampering was something that we don’t usually do, so it was a wonderful treat, indeed! Very much recommend this spa to people who are in Toronto! 🙂
