Like a string of pearls and a sparkling wine glass, Elizabeth Arden Untold is an eau de parfum that’s a class act.
Punctuated with sensual notes like bergamot, jasmine, sandalwood, and musk, it’s sophisticated like a pencil skirt paired with black pumps.
As much as I have a soft spot for sweet gourmand perfumes, I’ve been experimenting with classic scents, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much I love them! (You may remember an earlier review I did on Elizabeth Arden Always Red.)
This fragrance may be called Untold, but I believe that it tells a refined story.

Elizabeth Arden Untold Review
Fragrance
Elizabeth Arden Untold is an eau de parfum that, upon initial spray, opens with a sparkling and bright note, thanks to the black currant and pear. Then, a few minutes later, the warmth of bergamot peeks through, along with jasmine and florals.
At the base are sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and amber, which are a comforting blend like a seasonal latte.
I love that the bright notes don’t get overpowered when the warmth steps in. You can always smell a hint of that, and the warmth rounds out the fragrance.
While this scent is more mature than sweet gourmands, I took to this perfume quickly. It’s soft and accommodating, so especially if you’re not one to sport a strong fragrance, this one goes easy.
The warmth and florals have a slightly soapy personality that’s delicate and friendly. And hidden in the base notes is a little bit of mystery that adds some sensuality to the overall presentation.
According to Elizabeth Arden’s website, the official notes for the Untold eau de parfum are as follows:
- Top Notes: Black Currant LMR, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Pear
- Middle Notes: Gardenia, Peony, Jasmine LMR
- Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli Heart LMR, Musk, Amber
While this scent is suitable for the daytime, I can also see that, because of its sensuality, it would work well at night, too. And because it’s not too strong and distinctive, it doesn’t need to be reserved only for special occasions. It will fit in any time!
Longevity
What I enjoy about Elizabeth Arden Untold is that even if you spray on a lot, it never gets to be ‘too much.’ It’s always comfortable and ‘just enough.’
The first time I wore it, I used one spray on each wrist, and then I dabbed my wrists onto the sides of my neck. This lasted on me for about four hours before it began to significantly fade.
The next time I wore it, I used two sprays on each wrists, and then dabbed my wrists onto the sides of my neck, as usual. This was much better, as the scent lasted all day and night.
It’s a ‘cuddler scent,’ because someone else needs to get closer to you in order to get the full effect of Elizabeth Arden Untold. It doesn’t enter a room or elevator before you do, and it doesn’t linger longer than you do. This kind of projection is the most comfortable kind of perfume to me.
Packaging
Even the box is decadent because it has reflective gold and lots of texture, exuding a refined personality.
Then, it looks almost like a jewel, as it twinkles, thanks to the diagonal lines that criss-cross when looking through the translucent bottle.
A silver-coloured, highly reflective band borders the round bottle, and the top is engraved with “UNTOLD Elizabeth Arden.”
The bottle isn’t a flat, predictable circle. It twists like a mobius strip, giving it a gentle wave and visual interest.
The clear cap features similar characteristics as the bottle and reflects the light, so the cap takes on a crystal-like appearance.

Final Verdict: 8/10
Elizabeth Arden Untold is going to get a lot of use because I love how it smells pleasant and soft. (I have to be in the mood to wear really strong scents, so it’s nice that this one is the kind that you can spray on whenever you want, and it fits the occasion like a charm.)
What’s your signature scent? Have you tried any new fragrances? Do you prefer eau de parfums or body splashes?
What a great review! I like the unusually shaped bottle. I will have to check this out the next time I’m out shopping. I’m a big fan of Ralph Lauren Romance myself. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hey Melissa!
The bottle makes a very classy statement and is reminiscent of crystals. Very refined, and the scent matches it well!
I’ve never tried Ralph Lauren Romance. Do you tend to wear that one more in the daytime, or is an any-time fragrance like Untold?
Fantastic review! This sounds like it would smell amazing. I wouldn’t mind trying it out first before purchasing it.

Hey Sasha!
It is a very feminine, comforting, and pleasant scent that isn’t obnoxious or strong. And yes, it’s wise to try before you buy because when it mixes with your unique body chemistry, it can smell differently. Hopefully you can get your hands on a tester or a sample vial.
The more ‘mature’ fragrances I try, the more I find myself branching away from the sweet gourmands. (Shocking!)
