OPI That’s Hula-rious! from the Hawaii Collection out in February is like a mojito for your nails! (If you missed it, be sure to check out my recap post on the OPI Hawaii Collection Media Launch I attended.)
This mint green has a cool tone, but it’s a shade that can easily go with any season. (It can remind you of the cold winters or the rejuvenating springs.)
It also makes me think of mint ice cream. (Little fact: That’s one of my mom’s favourite ice-cream flavours, and it’s my least-favourite one.)
And it’s not like I go to a lot of baby showers, but when I saw OPI That’s Hula-rious!, baby showers immediately sprung to mind like a tiger on a trampoline that had too much coffee to drink. (Hmm, who has been feeding the tiger coffee? Another question for another time!) 😉
The reason why I think this would be great for a baby shower is because it’s modern. Instead of using gender-stereotypical colours like pink for girls and blue for boys, pastel green or sunshine yellow is the way to go.

OPI That’s Hula-rious! Review
Colour
That’s Hula-rious! by OPI is a pale mint green that has the tendency to create the dreaded ‘Lobster Hands Effect’ – i.e. It can sometimes draw out the red in your skin in contrast with the green.
I love how this mint green is cool and fresh. It’s on the verge of being stark, but somehow, it tip-toes on the line with a hint of softness.
Finish
Yup – the OPI Hawaii Collection has another creme! It’s simple and classic – no-nonsense. You’ll appreciate how it’s easy to remove and is low-maintenance.
Application & Formula
A lot of minty green nail polishes are streaky, and unfortunately, That’s Hula-rious! by OPI is no exception.
With one coat, it was so streaky. A second coat helped a lot, but the third layer evened everything out completely. (If you want full opacity with this one, I highly recommend you use three coats. Anything less and you’ll see some subtle bald patches.)
The consistency of the polish wasn’t difficult to work with. It wasn’t too watery or too thick. Just make sure you don’t overload your brush, and you’ll be fine.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
You may be surprised that I rated a green lower than an 8 out of 10! (Somebody, check my pulse!) 😉
That’s Hula-rious! by OPI is pretty, and it makes your nails look clean and fresh. (I think it would look wonderful stamped over with an Aztec pattern!)
How often do you wear mint-green nail polish? What’s your favourite ice-cream flavour? Do you wear minty shades more in the winter or the summer?
Gorgeous shade, but I can’t help but be reminded of Gargantuan Green Grape (the mint version).
Would you happen to own that one and is it very similar or is that just my mind making them the same?
Hey Anc!
Good question – they are pretty similar, but I’ll put together a comparison post for next week or I’ll post a social-media photo. I’m sure that many other nailphiles are also wondering. (Just got to track down my bottle of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape for the comparison. Stay tuned!)
Awesome!
Thanks, can’t wait to see it 😀
Very pretty! Love cool mints 🙂

Hey Eva!
Thanks! When I wore this, I was craving a mojito so badly. I feel like mint-green nail polishes go so well with a mojito in hand. Hehe!
I love it! I am a sucker for pastels anyway, especially the cooler toned hues. Too bad the coverage isn’t not too good, but I’ll gonna want it anyway I guess ha ha.
Hey Renée!
Yeah, I wish it was more opaque. The streakiness goes away with the third coat, at least.
this looks lovely. to my eyes it has more of a yellow undertone than a blue, or more jade green than minty green. I will be looking forward to your comparison to see what you come up with that is close. beautiful shots!
Hey Lorraine!
It could just be my photos then. In person, it’s definitely a minty-looking green. 🙂
Yeah, I’m going to go ahead and have to have this one too.
LOL. Seriously, I’ve been BUY ALL THE MINT GREEN THINGS lately.

Hey Jessica!
Haha, that’s me, except instead of mint green, I’m pretty much BUY ALL THE GREEN THINGS! 😉 It’s dangerous, but at least a fellow nailphile understands. Hehe!
Love this minty shade–it reminds me of candy 🙂
Hey Jessica!
Now you have me craving candy! 😉
It’s a gorgeous color and I think I’ve got to get it! You’re right it’s perfect for both spring and Winter. I’m curious though, how does it compare to OPI’s Gargantuan Green Grape? I think it’s a minty-pastel-y kind of green. I’m like you I’ll buy anything green especially polish, LOL Thanks as always for sharing! 🙂
Hey Melissa!
Off the top of my head, they’re pretty similar, but I’ll need to do a swatch comparison post just to be sure. Stay tuned for that!
Will do! 🙂
That’s such a pretty colour! I’m in love with it since you fist showed the collection. It’s stunning.
I find that mint greens are often streaky and on the sheerer side, probably it’s a pastel thing. Worth it for colours like this, though.

Hey Carla!
Yes, it must have to do with the way pigments mix with a white base…or maybe I’m just pulling things out of thin air. 😉 But what you said is true. There are so many streaky pastels, so there must be a good reason for it.
Yep, another one I think I’ll just have to put on my shopping list 🙂
And another comparison request: if you happen to have it, how close is this to the green from the Hello Flamingo duo? (Feel the Mo-heat-oes Green)

Hey Joyce!
Oh, I don’t have that duo. Bummer! I’ll have to check that one out online!
True or false – this one is similar to Damone Roberts, but Damone is a little dustier and a little darker? I really like this shade. I hate doing 3 coats of polish, though. I’m wondering if I still want this one if it’s a bit of a diva (although to be expected with pastels, I know!)… I don’t have anything similar other than Damone, and like you I’m a sucker for greens…
Hey Maureen!
I think that these are extremely different because this is much lighter and minty. Damone Roberts is dustier and darker, yes. You can completely justify having both in your collection. (I’ll be doing a comparison post soon, so you’ll be able to see the difference more easily.)
Thank goodness I have so many ulta points saved up! Whenever I see your swatches of this collection I just want to buy them more! I usually stay away from light colors like this because of the formula but I’ve been loving mint green lately and green in general is my favorite color (I’m a redhead…go figure right?)
Hey Michaela!
YES – green on a redhead is amazing! (P.S. I’ve loved red hair since I was in elementary school and watched Anne of Green Gables.)
