Pretty Serious Moments Til Midnight from the Rooftop Soiree Collection is one of those polishes that made my jaw drop. (No worries – I picked it up, so nobody would trip and have an accident!) 😉

It’s also one of those nail polishes that’s so beautiful, you must see it in person to get the full impact.

None of my photos do it justice, although I was very eager to snap a photo with my phone and post it on Instagram on Saturday. Pretty Serious Moments Til Midnight is actually more magical in real life, and it’s one of the prettiest blue lacquers I own.

The combination of the glitter and jelly finish creates a jelly-sandwich manicure effect that makes it look like you’re peering into an enchanted pool at sparkling jewels below! It’s very striking, and I don’t own anything that’s a dead-on dupe of it.

Especially because it’s called Moments Til Midnight, I think it’s great to wear for New Year’s Eve. It’s not your typical blingy polish, and that’s why it appeals to me more!

Pretty Serious Moments Til Midnight Review

Colour

Like a vivid blue sky, the base of Moments Til Midnight by Pretty Serious is quite striking. It’s a vibrant blue that’s not too light or too dark. This kind of blue is magical and dramatic, and it’s not one of those near-black blues. You can tell that it’s clearly blue at all times.

Finish

The finish is what absolutely sets it apart from other ‘starry sky’ nail polishes. The base is translucent, which adds great depth. It’s this finish that gives your nails that ‘jelly-sandwich manicure’ look.

There’s hexagonal glitter sprinkled throughout in various sizes, and the jelly base doesn’t cover up their glory. Instead, it enhances them, and makes it seem as though you’re peering into a magical pool where there are gemstones sparkling beneath!

The glitter also isn’t just a flat gold. Depending on how you shift your nails, you can sometimes see green. And the jelly-blue base adds an aquatic, mermaid-esque feel.

Application & Formula

Nailing a jelly polish with glitter can be quite a feat because sometimes, it can be streaky or chunky.

There’s a fine line between having a jelly finish that covers the nail without covering the beauty of the glitter, and I feel like Pretty Serious Cosmetics got it right!

This formula is excellent! You don’t need to dab the glitter on. You can paint your nails as you would with a regular polish. No special application technique needed because the polish flows smoothly onto your nails!

The glitter suspended in the base doesn’t get chunky, and it doesn’t eat through top coat like a hungry monster, which is typical of polishes with large glitter.

Also worth mentioning is that the polish doesn’t feel scratchy. Sure, you can feel some texture, but it’s not as noticeable as you would expect. Plus with a top coat, it’s extremely smooth.

I wore two coats of Moments Til Midnight by Pretty Serious, and I was pleased with the opacity. For some reason, in my photos, it looks like it’s more see-through than it appears to the naked eye in person. The coverage is wonderful, and you shouldn’t need more than two coats.

Can you tell that I’m in love and lust with Moments Til Midnight by Pretty Serious? It’s such an enchanting nail polish, and I imagine that a mermaid would wear this!
