OPI Christmas Gone Plaid Swatches & Review

OPI Christmas Gone Plaid Swatches & ReviewIf you’ve hung around Swatch And Learn for even a short period of time, you’ll notice that I tend to lose a few marbles whenever I see a new green nail polish. 😉

So, it should not be shocking to learn that OPI Christmas Gone Plaid was at the top of my To-Wear List when I first laid eyes on the OPI Gwen Stefani Holiday Collection!

While other popular nail-polish brands release lots of green lacquers, I find that OPI doesn’t often. That’s why I got even more excited to see Christmas Gone Plaid!

Haha, the name of this polish is OPI Christmas Gone Plaid, but on the label, it said Christmas Gone Paid! Hehe, it still sorta works because when you think of getting paid and cash, you think of green! 😉

OPI Christmas Gone Plaid Review

Colour

Christmas Gone Plaid by OPI is a forest green that OPI doesn’t normally create, so maybe we’ll see more greens in future collections? (We can only hope!) 🙂

In the bottle, the green is dark, but when you paint your nails, it ends up looking several shades darker. However, it doesn’t quite look blackened. In very dim light, it could look that way, but most of the time, you can clearly tell that it’s green. (That’s a plus for me because near-black colours aren’t my favourite.)

Finish

Although it has a simple creme finish, Christmas Gone Plaid by OPI is still a winner. I don’t have too many dark greens with this finish, so it’s a good staple addition to my collection.

Another awesome thing about cremes is how easy they are to remove!

And even before I added a top coat, it was extremely shiny and not flat like some cremes.

Application & Formula

This baby has wonderful pigmentation, and when you slick on even the initial coat, you’ll be like, “Oooh!” It’s very creamy and smooth, so the lacquer glides effortlessly onto your nail.

Great formula on this one!

Pros

  • Rich forest green
  • Smooth & creamy formula
  • Simple creme finish (This could be a Con for some.)
  • Creme finish is easy to remove
  • Applies like a dream
  • Super shiny finish

Cons

  • Simple creme finish (This could be a Pro for some.)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

OPI Christmas Gone Plaid is a green that has made its way into the soft spot of my heart! 😉 Obviously, I recommend that you give it a whirl. It’s so easy to work with, you can be lazy while painting your nails, and the results will still turn out great!

What polish in your collection has the smoothest, easiest-to-work-with formula? Which shades from the OPI Gwen Stefani Holiday Collection have you or will you pick up? For Christmas, will you be wearing green or red polish…or something else?

    *want very much*
Thank you for showing. When I think of my Polish stash I think the Sandpolishes from P2 are the easiest to work with because they’re so forgiving. But I just painted OPIs You only live twice on and I loved the formula.

I’ve ordered Comet in the Sky and Snow Globetrotter (I’m not usually the glitter girl, but for some strange reason I wanted them), but they’re not here yet. I think it will take maybe a week or two, till they arrive here. And I’m thinking of buying Christmans gone plaid (after your review it’s not a question of, but when), In a Holidaze, Unfrost my heart, I Carol about you and the Don’t speak Topcoat. ( Oh I think I want more than I should want ^^ ) And then I need to see, if there is a nice red for me. I just want one perfect red.

I have no idea what I’ll be wearing at christmas, depends on my mood on that day. Maybe Sunworshipper from China Glaze, that would definetely be cool. But I can’t plan my manicure that much in advance …it’s…… just …. not…. possible! 😀

    Have a nice day.

      Hey Rachel!

Ooohh, good choice especially with Snow Globetrotter! It looks like it’d be really fun to layer with for that Christmas-y effect!

Hehe, I know how you feel. Some collections really pull you in closer, and you want most of them. This is a great collection with a holiday spirit and lots of variety in terms of finishes and colours!

      Hey Joyce!

We are on the same page when it comes to greens! Especially because OPI rarely puts out greens, they’re extra special. 😉

      Hey Ann!

Yes, Plaid instead of Paid is correct. 🙂 It’s just my bottle from PR that was labelled incorrectly. Thought it was funny! 🙂

Now I regret not picking this up with my Ulta 20% off coupon!! I thought it might be too similar to ZOYA Hunter and I already have that one…

      Hey Michaela!

Can’t go wrong with a 20% off coupon! 😉 I wish Canada had an Ulta. I’ve heard so many great things about it. Maybe the next time I visit the States, I’ll go check out Ulta.

Just ordered this one off of Amazon and I can’t wait for it to come in! This shade is the one I coveted the most out of the Gwen Stefani holiday collection. It reminds me of Christmas tress 🙂

GORGEOUS! I’m really loving this color. It’s a good dark green, but it’s not so dark that you can’t see that it’s green. I have some dark greens that look almost black when applied to the nail. Thanks as always for sharing with us. This one’s going on my wish list.

      Hey Melissa!

I now what you mean. When a dark green looks black on the nail, it annoys me, and I think, “Why not just wear a jet black polish then?” I’m fond of midnight black nails, but not when I was expecting some colour!
