OPI My Signature Is “DC” Swatches & Review

OPI My Signature Is DC Swatches & ReviewI’ve been excited to share OPI My Signature Is “DC” with you because it’s the oh-so-flashy silver from the Coca-Cola Collection, which I did a Quick Look post on.

If you want something blingy, and you’re not the type to wear jewellery, OPI My Signature Is “DC” is a great option.

The only major concern with this nail polish is that it isn’t forgiving if you have a less-than-perfect nail surface.

Most people don’t have naturally smooth nails. Don’t fret if you have ridges. I have them, too, but it doesn’t bother me. I am human…except when I’m an alien on the weekend. 😉

OPI My Signature Is “DC” Review

Colour

My Signature Is “DC” by OPI is a very majestic colour that brings to mind platinum treasures. It’s very blingy, so if you’re not into metallics on your nails, this might not be the right fit for you.

Fortunately for me, this polish snuggled up to the right person, and I welcomed it with open arms and naked nails. 😉

Silvers can be difficult for me to pull off, but I think because this is a bright one (as opposed to one that leans more grey), it works better.

Finish

This has a highly reflective shimmery-chrome finish. It’s not flat at all – when you move your nails, they catch the light and are very lively!

It’s the type of polish that looks exactly the same with and without a shiny top coat.

Application & Formula

My Signature Is “DC” by OPI applied beautifully. The formula is very pigmented. With one coat, it covered pretty well, but it took two coats for complete opacity.

The only issue with this polish is that it won’t conceal nail ridges. That doesn’t bother me much because, as you know, I’m not one to strive for perfection. Happiness is more important to me.

However, not everyone is like me, and that’s okay. The world needs to be diverse to be beautiful.

If you really don’t want to see ridges, you will need to either buff your nails first or wear a ridge-concealing base coat prior to wearing OPI My Signature Is “DC”.

Pros

  • Very reflective, shimmery-chrome-metallic
  • Great pigmentation
  • Gorgeous silver

Cons

  • Formula shows nail ridges & imperfections

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

OPI My Signature Is “DC” is a gorgeous polish that is very fun to wear. I’d sport it any time, but I can see how this would be most suitable for a ‘celebratory’ event like New Year’s Eve.

Do you wear silver nail polish? Does seeing nail ridges bother you? Do you buff your nails, wear a ridge-concealing base coat, or keep your nail surface as-is?

Love it! I love bling haha. I was wondering, how long did you wear this nail polish before you took it off? Push and shove wasn’t the most durable polish and I was wondering if this was a polish that lasts a little longer than one night 😉

      Hey Renee!

I wore this polish for about 5-6 days before I removed it. I really enjoyed it because it’s not a colour that I typically wear, and this one was just so flashy!

Of course it depends on your nail chemistry, but for my nails, this polish wore very well. I don’t own OPI Push & Shove, so I can’t compare the longevity of that one.

    Hi Mary!
9.5 out of 10? I guess it deserves such a score. I’m a silver lover and this one really seems pure melted metal on your nails. Love it!!
P.S. the European version of this hue is called “Turn on the haute light”. It must be due to the different name usef for Diet Coke in Europe (Coca-Cola Light). Besides, they:ve issued 2 different polishes for Fanta Orange, in North-America and Europe:Orange you fantastic! is a glitter whilst Orange you stylish! is an orange slightly pumpkin-toned creme. I hate this kind of strategy, as I’d prefer equal opportunities for everyone to get any colour, no matter where one lives!

      Hey Floria!

Yes, a silver doesn’t usually get such an impressive score from me, but this one won me over completely! I didn’t want to remove it even after wearing it for days, but then I had a bunch of other new polishes that were crying for me to take them out for a spin. 😉

Hmm – that’s interesting about the European version! Thanks for letting me know. And, yes, it’s frustrating. I also would like everyone to easily access the same colours.
