You’ll remember that on Monday, I showed you OPI Pink-ing of You, which is part of the OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 Set that will be available in September and October. (Click here to see the official press release.)
Today, I want to show you the other full-size nail polish you’ll get in the same Breast Cancer Awareness set – OPI More than a Glimmer.
It’s such a girly, fun glitterbomb, and in this post, I’ve shown it layered over OPI Pink-ing of You.
However, since I realize that you may want to wear it solo, I have quick swatches of it with 3 coats as well. They help show off the base colour more.
If you really love this glitter (and want to support a good cause), head to Trade Secrets or wherever else you can find it because OPI More than a Glimmer is a limited-edition matte nail polish. Once it’s gone, it could be gone for good!

OPI More than a Glimmer Review
Colour
At first when I saw the promo pictures of More than a Glimmer by OPI, I thought that the milky base would be whitish.
I was pleasantly surprised that, in person, it had a hint of pink, which was a cute touch that jived well with the pink polish that also comes in this set. It’s very subtle, but it’s still noticeable.
This is a multicoloured glitterbomb, so there’s so much going on. It’s like a one-man band – it plays the drums, harmonica, horn, trumpet, accordion, and more, just like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins!
I spied with my myopic eyes hexagonal glitter in 3 sizes: large, medium, and small. They were blue, green, pink, green, silver, yellow, and perhaps even more colours!
What It Looks Like Worn Solo
For my manicure, I layered a single coat of More than a Glimmer by OPI over the pink base. But, if you want to rock a complete glitterbomb by itself, here’s what it’ll look like by itself with 3 coats in natural light.
Finish
Although the glitter is shiny, it’s very obvious that it has a matte finish. I really like how it looks – almost frosted over, as though the glitter was frozen under some ice.
Since this is a glittertastic polish, it should come as no surprise that the chunkiness is gritty. You can smooth it out pretty well with a top coat, but it won’t be as smooth as glass unless you apply multiple layers of top coat.
Application & Formula
More than a Glimmer by OPI is chunky, so you can’t sweep on the polish like you typically would. If you want to get an even distribution of glitter, you’ll need to manipulate the glitter with your brush.
I noticed that most of the glitter tends to pool where your brush first hits the nail. Then, you may have to use the brush to move around the glitter. You may even want to use a dabbing motion to put the glitter in the bald areas to fill them in.
Although I used it as a layering polish, you could get full coverage if you use multiple coats. But, remember that the more coats of a chunky nail polish you use, the harder it’ll be when it comes time to remove it.
Like most glitter-heavy polishes, this one also dried pretty quickly, which is always nice!

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
OPI More than a Glimmer is a really fun glitter polish that you can use on top of lots of different colours because the milky base isn’t too pink to dramatically alter the base colour.
Although it takes more care to apply evenly, it’s worth the effort if you dig the glitterbomb look.
I can see that it’d be a great celebratory polish for birthdays and New Year’s Eve!
Do you wear glitterbombs solo or as layering polishes? Will you be picking up the OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 Set? What would you layer OPI More than a Glimmer over?
This is BEAUTIFUL! I have a serious weakness for any polish in this colour family. However, I just clicked over to their site and they don’t ship internationally! Kind of a tease on their part to send press samples to a Canadian blogger when none of her fellow countrymen (or countrywomen!) can actually buy their products!
Hey Jess!
This set will be available at select professional salons and spas. Also, Trade Secrets often carries these, so don’t give up!
Ha ha…um, pretend that comment was posted on the Adorn Age of Aquarius post! I don’t know how I ended up commenting on the wrong post! I’ll blame the fact that I was commenting using my phone during my bumpy bus commute into work.;-)
I am very aware of where I can purchase OPI…a little too aware actually! 😉 I actually ended up buying this set yesterday from Nail Polish Canada during a MASSIVE haul. I think I was drowning my sorrows from having my entire cart jacked during the Enchanted Polish restock (why do I bother, really?).
Oh, no problem! 😉 It happens.
Wow, a massive nail-polish haul? Enjoy it! What other polishes did you buy at the same time as this OPI set?
Hey Jess!
I went to the Adorn website just now and put something in my cart and went to the checkout page. It looked fine to me. I saw there was a drop-down menu with Canada included among other countries.
Were you able to see that drop-down menu?
Hmm…no, I didn’t try checking out with anything, I just read their About Us page were it said they ship exclusively with USPS and don’t ship internationally. Maybe they updated their shipping policies and didn’t update that page?
As for my NPC haul…it was a true budget-blowing haul of shame, too many to list here.;)
Yes, they definitely must’ve updated their policy, but just forgot to update that page. I’m going to e-mail them to let them know. What a shame it’d be if lots of international nailphiles missed out on these shades because of that page!
To gritty, not my shades either 🙁
Hey Icequeen81!
It would be neat if one year, they put out dark pinks in their Breast Cancer Awareness sets. Or how about a pink holo? I think nailphiles would love that!
I agree, it sounds excellent.
Is it just me, or would this not make for one of the prettiest jelly sandwich style manicures you’ve ever seen?! How gorgeous is this color?! I’m adding this one to my ever growing wish list. LOL
Hey Melissa!
Yes, I can picture that for sure! Hehe, a nailphile’s wish list just keeps growing, doesn’t it? It’s fun to track down the colours or even find dupes. The thrill of the hunt, but then when you find the right colour, you wear it more than once. 🙂 Polish that keeps on giving. (I’m thinking of the children’s book “The Giving Tree”, except in this case, it’s the polish ‘tree’.) 😉
That is just PACKED with glitter! Can’t wait to find it somewhere.
