Illamasqua Scorn Swatches & Review

Illamasqua Scorn Swatches & ReviewGotta say it – Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! 😉

Illamasqua Scorn is a full-on sexy lacquer that always reminds me of Catwoman’s suit. It has that rubberized feel that makes it really interesting to look at.

I feel like I need to crack a whip, purr, or wear a spiked collar when Illamasqua Scorn is on my nails.

To me, this polish represents Illamasqua very well. I see the brand as being daring, dark, and editorial. Scorn encapsulates all that in a beautiful glass bottle.

Illamasqua Scorn Review

Colour

Scorn by Illamasqua is an edgy black that’s Catwoman in a bottle. That’s the best way I can describe it. It’s not your ordinary black nail polish. It has personality in spades!

Finish

The matte finish isn’t flat. There’s almost a rubberized look to it.

Now, you know me – I like using my Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat because it really speeds up the nail-painting process. With this polish, you don’t use a top coat, unless you want to transform it into an ordinary shiny black polish.

I was happy to see that Scorn by Illamasqua doesn’t take a long time to dry. No, it’s not lightning fast, but the dry time also isn’t so long that I’m worried about getting dents.

Application & Formula

Scorn by Illamasqua has a thick formula that isn’t really forgiving. Try to use as few strokes as possible, and try to avoid going over the same section more than once or twice.

Other than that, the formula was easy to work with.

Pros

  • Editorial matte finish that reminds me of Catwoman
Cons

  • Formula is on the thicker side & you need to apply it with care for good results

Final Verdict: 8/10

Believe it or not, Scorn by Illamasqua is the only matte/rubberized black nail polish that I own. I really like the look, and I can picture myself wearing this lacquer again and again.

Do you wear matte/rubberized nail polish? Which is your favourite?

      Hey Icequeen81!

Do you have a favourite black nail polish? I really enjoy China Glaze Liquid Leather and Deborah Lippmann Fade to Black, in addition to Illamasqua Scorn.

China glaze is available on the island but they never bring black, and Illamasca is not easy to be find here. my fab at the moment is a La colors polish I have. I saw one of milani that has high shine hopefully I can find it here

That’s so strange why they wouldn’t bring Liquid Leather, their popular black!

Oh, yes, Milani is a great choice – very affordable!

      Hey Rebecca!

Yes, it reminds me of that polish, too…well, at least from what I’ve seen online (since I don’t have that polish).

The finish on this is really interesting. I found myself feeling my nails. Hehe, whenever I have any texture, it’s a novelty for me!
