Pretty Serious Seasonal Sunset Swatches & Review

Pretty Serious Seasonal Sunset Swatches & ReviewFor my New Year’s Eve manicure, I nearly went for OPI GoldenEye. Instead, I chose Pretty Serious Seasonal Sunset to ring in the New Year!

It’s from the Christmas Without Snow Collection that went on sale December 1st, 2012.

What was on your nails when you were celebrating the beginning of 2013?

Pretty Serious Seasonal Sunset has everything I was looking for – saturated colour and plenty of sparkle.

When it arrived in the mail, I tore open the package like a sewer rat looking for lunch. I was extremely excited because I’ve never tried any Pretty Serious nail polishes before!

This did not disappoint!

Pretty Serious Seasonal Sunset Review

Colour

Seasonal Sunset by Pretty Serious is a rusty red nail polish that’ll knock your socks off. (And when it does, you may as well give yourself a pedicure. I think having your socks fly off is a sign from your foot to tell you it wants some pampering.) 😉

The saturated hue reminds me of autumn! It’s rich (like that delicious cheesecake you ate during the holidays).

There are glassflecks that sparkle with a ferocity that made me instantly think of that Alicia Keys song about a girl being on fire. I imagined my nails singing that song about themselves.

The effect of the copper and gold glassflecks is so beautiful to behold. It looked amazing in the bottle, but I think it looks even better on your nails!

This polish creates the kind of manicure that you’ll find yourself staring at throughout the day. You may need to resist the strong urge to constantly stare at your nails or onlookers will think you’re a vain polish peacock!

Finish

Seasonal Sunset by Pretty Serious has a jelly finish. This better allows the glassflecks to shine through and become a force to be reckoned with!

Application & Formula

While I absolutely adore the colour and the finish, the application was extremely challenging to me. Maybe it was just my bottle, but the polish itself was very thick like gel, which made it impossible to apply thin coats.

Rectifying this situation is incredibly easy, thankfully. All you need to do is add a few drops of nail-polish thinner (not remover!), and the consistency will be perfect and easy-to-work-with. 🙂

Animal-Friendliness

All Pretty Serious nail polishes are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

Pros

  • Incredibly sparkly
  • Saturated colour
  • Jelly finish with glassflecks
  • 100% vegan & cruelty-free
Cons

  • Formula is thick (but can easily be fixed with thinner)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

Despite the formula issues, I’m still giving Pretty Serious Cosmetics a very high score because the colour really stands out in my collection. I loved wearing this so much. It added that festive feel to my manicure without being a traditional glitterbomb.

I consider Seasonal Sunset to be a must-have nail polish!

What did you wear on your nails to ring in the New Year? How was your New Year’s Eve? What did you do to celebrate?

Edit: Wow, Pretty Serious Cosmetics retweeted my tweet about this blog post!

      Hey A Lacquered Affair!

Yes, I’m keeping the box, too. It’s much fancier than other nail-polish boxes – really has personality!

This red is more interesting than a lot of other reds because of the copper and gold. It’s on fire!

      Happy New Year! 😀

Glad I’m not the only one not wearing the “traditional” gold or silver nail polish on my nails like you 😉 This color is beautiful! I have never tried Pretty Serious nail polish before.

I have Essie’s Where’s My Chauffeur? with Essie’s Beyond Cozy painted on top on one nail as an accent~

Happy New Year to you Mary! Hope this year brings you many new and exciting opportunities 😀

      Hey Lawren!

High five for wearing something different! 🙂 Although, I was soooo tempted to go with OPI GoldenEye. That polish probably cried when I didn’t celebrate the New Year with it…hehe! I’ll have to bring it out for another special occasion just because I love it so much.

Thank you! 🙂 Happy New Year – May 2013 bring you much happiness!

      Hey Charlotte!

Yes, the box has a lot of detail. I plan to keep it with the polish in my Helmer. It’s very collectible. 🙂 I love how they change the design on the box for each collection. Makes it seem more special!
