OPI Vant to Bite My Neck? is a dark purple from the Euro Centrale Spring/Summer Collection coming out in February 2013.
If you’ve followed Swatch And Learn for a little while, you may have noticed that I don’t maintain a nail length. I sport all different lengths from little nubs like in today’s post to longer nails. (It’s not because I’m crazy. Well, okay, maybe just a smidgeon. I just appreciate diversity, and perhaps I’m a little indecisive. Maybe…I haven’t decided! Haha, kidding! I did that on purpose.)
I trimmed my nails super short quite a few days ago, but you’re just seeing it recently because there’s a bit of a lag between the manicure I wear and when it gets published on here. (You’ll probably notice that more when one day my nails are really short and then the next day, they’re much longer. Sometimes I upload manicures out of order. I swear I haven’t been drinking the werewolf’s Kool-Aid…even though it’s supposedly delicious!) 😉
The first polish I reached for after trimming my nails was Vant to Bite My Neck? because I just love how chic dark shades look on short nails.

OPI Vant to Bite My Neck? Review
Colour
Vant to Bite My Neck? by OPI is a dark purple that enters vampy territory with its Count Dracula collar popped because it’s cool like that.
In dim lighting, this shade can look blackened. But, when you catch it in the sun, you definitely can see more of the purple without having to squint.
As we approach winter, I’m finding that I hardly ever am able to capture my manicures in the sunlight with my camera because I’m at work most times when the sun decides to made its grand entrance. And I don’t want to lug my DSLR to the office. (Haha, and my co-workers already know I’m a big nail geek, so if I started photographing my nails with my DSLR at work, it would add fuel to the fire.) 😉
So…most times, I’m only able to share photos with flash and in natural light. Despite the limitation, I hope you’ll still be able to see the personality of the polish.
Finish
Normally a polish that has the tendency to look blackened on me is frustrating. But its saving grace was the finish and application – they made this polish a real winner in my makeup book.
If you look again at my photos, you’ll notice how shiny it looks. Even without the top coat, it looks glossy. Glossy cremes are my favourites. And when you throw in a vampy shade into the mix, it’s love at first swatch!
Sometimes a dark creme can look flat, but with the shiny finish, it makes it look sexy and crisp!
Application & Formula
Application was excellent on this one! I had no problems with the formula – it was smooth and fully opaque in just 2 coats. Even a single coat covered fairly well. And the lacquer was easy to control with the brush. Two manicured thumbs up from this nailphile!

Final Verdict: 8/10
Although I thoroughly enjoyed wearing OPI Vant to Bite My Neck?, after a couple of days, I couldn’t resist trying some glitter over it. A dark base can really make glitter pop. (The post on what I put over it is coming soon!)
What do you think of this dark purple creme? Do you like wearing cremes solo or as bases for glitter, nail art, or something else? I have to ask…do you want to bite my neck? 😉
So pretty ! I’m sure it’s a good base for glitter polishes !

Hey Randi!
Gotta love a polish that applies so effortlessly like this one. 🙂
I really like that color. I love dark polishes and I feel oh so mysterious wearing it on my nails. Funny you say your nails are nubs because girl, I struggle to get enough free edge to have “long” nails like you have now! I can’t wait to see the rest of the OPI collection. I am already making out my wish list for when it hits the stores in 2013.
Hey Cindi!
Haha, I consider these nubs because if I try to cut my nails any shorter, they’ll bleed. I’d be cutting the flesh under the nail…ewww! They probably just look “longer” because my nail beds are longer? (Someone told me that recently, and I never thought about it like that before she mentioned it. Makes sense, though.)
Have you tried taking Biotin supplements? They’re supposed to be really good for hair, skin, and nails. But they don’t always work for everyone, noticeable results can take months to see, and you have to drink a lot of water with it.

Hey Icequeen81!
Thanks, thanks, thanks! 😉 Hehehe!
This is such a gorgeous purple!! These colors look so great on you!! I love using cremes as a base for glitter, but sometimes I just want something simple and a good creme is the way to go ;0).
Oh, and Mary, no I don’t want to bite your neck. LOLOL!!

Hey Marisa!
Aww…thanks! I have the most fun wearing these kind of dark shades on my shorter nails, although I can see myself wearing it again on longer nails, too. With a formula that’s so wonderful, it’s a pleasure to work with.
Haha, good – so my neck is safe…for now! 😉
BTW, I love the addition of the polish bottles in your header. Really cute!

Aww…thank, Marisa! 😀 Vivian did such an awesome job on it. I really wanted the polish bees and the butterfly in there, and the Cheshire Cat became a bit of an accidental mascot on here…haha! So he got to shine in the spotlight, too. 😉
Pretty but I doubt I will buy it. I have so many deep colored creams, I don’t need more. Good that it had a nice formula. I am sure this one will be a fav of many. Oh and I don’t call these stubs! I love this lenght of nail actually. I think it’s classy and totally functional. I have had mine all different shapes and lengths. I tend to keep mine this lenght or sometimes just a hair longer.
Hey beachgal!
Haha, I guess I consider these little nubs because they’re pretty much as short as I can go because there’s skin underneath that would bleed if I tried to trim my nails any shorter.
When my nails are this length, I can definitely type a lot faster…hehe, and I don’t make annoying clicking sounds when I type. 😉
Gorgeous!! 😀

Hey Lizzy!
Thank you! 🙂 It’s such a low-maintenance shade – practically flow onto the nail by itself.
I love it! I just love purple polishes in general and can’t resist buying them. I wish it wasn’t quite so blackened but I’d wear it layered with glitter or on it’s own. I have a feeling this one would be amaze-balls layered with polka.com. Please, tell me that’s the glitter you layered it with? Please??? And your nails totally are not nubs! You have gorgeous almond-shaped nails that look great at any length. I actually prefer to see swatches on shorter nails. Long nail freak me out a bit. I have to keep my own nails quite short for piano-playing purposes. I used to really hate it but since becoming a polish-aholic I’ve really learned to embrace my short nails and think dark colors looks awesome on them!
Hey Camille!
Aww…sorry to disappoint you, but the glitter I used wasn’t Polka.com. (I used one from the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection, which I haven’t reviewed yet. Haha, that’s a huge hint since I’ve nearly reviewed them all!) Actually, I didn’t receive Polka.com as one of the polishes, so if I end up buying it, it would be in February 2013 when it’s released in stores. I’m curious to see it in person – it definitely looks like the star of the collection from the promo pictures! 🙂
Thanks for the compliment! 🙂 I guess I feel like my nails look like nubs because they’re as short as I can wear my nails. If I try cutting them any shorter, they’ll bleed, actually. Not sure why, but I love the feeling of having long nails and then chopping them all off as short as they’ll go. It’s a dramatic change. Maybe that’s why I like it. Haha, also, I don’t know if I could maintain a single nail length if I tried. (I’m actually very bad at shaping.)
Oohhh, you play the piano? Nice! I used to take lessons and enter competitions up until high school. That instrument is the hardest one I’ve ever learned. Definitely the clarinet and saxophone come more easily to me than the piano.
Playing the piano is a great way for you to show off your fabulous nails! 😀
Maybe it’s just me, but does it seem that OPI has upped the game when it comes to color saturation lately? I love the fact that so many of their newer polishes are so richly pigmented that you can practically get by with a single coat and this one is no exception.
Every time I tell myself I have enough they whip out another dark beauty that beckons with the irresistable siren song that only nail polish seems to have. Guess it’s time to make more room on the shelf. 😀
Hey Karen!
It’s always amazing how companies can keep churning out amazing collections. Just when you think they’ve come out with every colour and finish imaginable, they put out something new, whether it’s a little twist on a colour or an improvement in the formulation. Blows me away! That must be really difficult, too!
This would be so gorgeous with the gold flakes over it!
Hey Kels!
That’s a great idea, and I agree – I can already imagine how beautiful that would look. It would be very dramatic, and the flakes would stand out that much more!
I vant, I vant!!!
Hey Lexi!
Hehe, you ‘vant’ this polish? Or…you ‘vant’ to bite my neck? Hehehehe! (Sorry, I just can’t resist!)
Is it just me, or it looks like Siberian Nights? Probably a tiny bit more saturated?

Hey Kate!
Maybe! Too bad I don’t have a bottle of Siberian Nights or I could really compare or even take a bottle-comparison shot.
Beautifil color, your hands are pretty!
Hey Sabrina!
THANK YOU! *Blush*
