Orly Fresh Swatches & Review

Orly Fresh Swatches & ReviewOrly Freshย is proof that it’s verrrrry easy being green! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The name ‘fresh’ really is a good choice for this polish because when I see this colour, I think of a fresh green salad or a fresh green meadow. Either way, it’s bright and ideal for the spring and summer.

This is a type of green that looks very happy and lively, notย flaccidย and in a coma.

Since it’s a creme polish, this is a very nice shade to use as the base colour for some nail art. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I did yet another fishtail-braid design on top of this, which you’ll see this week!

Orly Fresh Review

Colour

I just love how Fresh by Orly looks in the sunshine. It has that softness to it that makes you smile, but it doesn’t look pale enough to be a pastel – there’s enough green to give it some energy.

If you do nail art, I think this would look fantastic as a base colour. Maybe some flower nail art? This green would be the perfect background for a meadow.

Finish

Fresh by Orly has a creme finish, which looks very clean.

Application & Formula

This one’s pretty watery, so make sure that you don’t overload your brush, or you could easily flood your cuticles if you don’t pay attention.

However, the upside to the watery formula is that the polish self-levels very well. What does this mean? Even if you don’t paint your nails evenly, the polish seems to smooth out on its own and improve the look of your manicure. ๐Ÿ™‚ Who doesn’t love that? (Now if only I can find a nail polish that paints my nails all by itself while I scratch my belly and watch TV.) ๐Ÿ˜‰

You’ll notice that I used 3 coats. You can actually reach full opacity with 2 coats, but I was curious to see if the polish would darken with an extra coat – it didn’t really.

Pros

  • Fresh-spring green
  • Opaque in 2 coats
  • Formula self-levels well
Cons

  • Watery formula

Final Verdict: 8/10

If you’re going to wear a light, spring-like green, Orly Fresh is a great choice! No, it’s not my favourite green of all time, but it’s extremely fun to wear, and I can see myself pulling this out of my Helmer again.

What kind of nail art would you do over this shade of green? What’s your favourite Orly polish?

I am slowly embracing this “being green” phenomenon ๐Ÿ˜‰
This shade is sooo pretty! The greens I like have shimmer in them… This cream makes me ponder the possibilities. I would most likely stamp a black geometric stamp over it… To disguise/mask some of the green-ness… Baby steps into the green world

      Hey Marta!

Sit in the lotus position and repeat the mantra: “I love green!” ๐Ÿ˜‰ Eventually you’ll believe it.

Ahhhhh…mask some of the green-ness! AHHHHH! Hahaha! (I do like your idea of a high-contrast design like that to funk-ify this creme polish. You’re the Stamping Queen, so if anyone knows what would look good, it’s you! :D)

(Ok, going to try this again – my comments still don’t seem to be working with my blog post, so I’m going to try putting it in the comment “body”.)
Wow, I love that green! After I did my nails last night I thought “huh, I should have done a black base with large white dots and neon inner dots…” This green would be perfect for that! ๐Ÿ˜€

      Hey Erica!

I’m really not sure why it’s happening. Could you try clearing out the cookies on your computer? It’s just a guess, but maybe there’s something there that’s really stubborn. Hmm…and maybe could you try from a different computer? I wonder if it’s just one computer that’s a problem. Hope we can figure this out!

      Hey Brianna!

Glad you tried the fishtail braid, too. Do you think you’ll try it again, but with different colours?

Hehe, it’s funny how you say this green would look good with a pink polish. Yesterday I scheduled a nail-art blog post that’s set to go live tomorrow. It’ll feature green, pink, and another colour… ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Hey Angie!

And if you can only choose one Orly shade to hunt down, I highly recommend Space Cadet (even though it’s a little challenging to get). Totally worth the effort to get that multichrome polish!

      Hey Amanda!

Thank you so much for saying that! ๐Ÿ™‚ The sun really cooperated with me. I tend to take sunlight photos in the morning before I go to work, and sometimes the sun casts a really yellowish light. This time, Mr. Sun didn’t…yay! ๐Ÿ™‚

Fowl Play is so amazing. I don’t have it, but I have OPI Merry Midnight, which is similar enough for me to not run out to buy Fowl Play. If I didn’t have it, I’d be alla bout Fowl Play! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s like they put everything amazing into polish in a single bottle – LOVE IT!

This is such a Mary kind of color! I’m surprised you didn’t give it higher than 8 (although 8 is still pretty high!). This is the sort of green that I tend to shy away from. I like them vampy so this one is still well out of my comfort zone. I do love my Orly Royal Navy though. Such a stunner of a blue! Fowl Play is a close contender. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hey Carmela!

Green = Love. ๐Ÿ˜‰ You know me! Sometimes I think that if I came face to face with a little green man, I’d fall hopelessly in love. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You could totally pull off this type of green, I think. It’s fresh and not too yellow or too pale.

I’m with ya on Royal Navy – absolutely stunning shade! Orly does nail polish well!
