After wearing the neon skittle manicure, a contrast was needed. Zoya Yasmeen fit the bill with a seductive rich purple full of intoxicating shimmer.
I’ve had this beauty in my stash for years, and it’s fine time that I showed it off. This is a pretty hue that’s a staple for any purple polish lover!
Zoya Yasmeen is vampy, which may make you think more of the fall and winter. But I tend to wear whatever colour I want regardless of the season, and this certainly filled the void for a dark hue that I was craving so badly. 🙂

Zoya Yasmeen Review
Colour
Yasmeen by Zoya is mainly a deep plum purple that looks dark, yet never black (even in dim light). It’s very luxurious and dramatic. This is a shade that walks the tightrope between edgy and sophisticated in the carnival of colour. I really dig it!
Finish
The shimmer is what gives Yasmeen an air of mystery and seduction. Its magenta-gold shimmer twinkles like pixie dust and even reminds me a touch of Clarins 230 (Unicorn Pee). It’s in no way a dupe (it’s not a multichrome), but the tiny shimmer has that magical appearance.
Mainly when you see the shimmer, you see the magenta (or reddish purple). But in some artificial lighting, you can pick up the golden shimmer.
Application & Formula
The formula was smooth and easy to apply. Wow, and talk about a polish that’s highly pigmented! 🙂 With just a single coat, most of my nail was covered, but I used two to even everything out.

Final Verdict: 8/10
Yasmeen by Zoya is one of my favourite Zoya polishes in my stash. It applies effortlessly and has that special shimmer to keep it from looking flat. If you’re into eggplant and plum polishes, I think you’ll love this one.
Do you still wear vampy shades even in the spring and summer? What Zoya polish do you reach for the most?
Love love love Purple. Looks great!! I would wear this year round also. I just have a thing for purple. lol Looks beautiful on ya. Gotta get it!
Hey Robbie!
I knew this would score high in your book, too, since you’re a purple lover! 😉
Wow that is seriously gorge. If Zoya were easier to find in Canada I would be bankrupt. How do you find this compares to Jem?
Hey MC!
Same here – Zoya makes so many fierce shades, and if we had better access to them, well, let’s just say that I’d need to expand my nail-polish storage! 😉
I don’t own Zoya Jem, but based on photos I’ve seen of it online, Jem is redder and Yasmeen is purpler. I found bottle-shot comparisons: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hongatar/6652076613/ The same person also conveniently swatched them side-by-side: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hongatar/6652077269/ Hope they help! 🙂
I was wondering the same thing myself, since I have (and love) Jem. Thanks for including the links, Mary. 🙂
You’re very welcome! I’m always happy to help. 🙂
This looks amazing on you!! Such a great color!

Hey MariJo!
Thanks! 😀 I really need to bust out more Zoya polishes. Not sure why I haven’t blogged about them much. They really have awesome colours!
Yes, I have quite a few just sitting in my stash also. What’s that about? LOL
MariJo recently posted: Rimmel – Hot Cocoa
What’s that about? They’re patiently waiting for you to fall in love with them, of course! (How romantic!) 😛 Haha!
This is gorgeous!! Since you compared the shimmer with the shimmer in Unicorn Pee, would you ever consider layering Unicorn Pee over this? It’s still very beautiful on its own. 🙂
Hey Jessica!
It’s funny that you mention it because I almost did layer Unicorn Pee over it. (Clarins 230 really looks amazing over deep purples, so this would be an ideal base.) But at the last second, I reached for a different polish that I was curious about. I hope to blog about it soon. 🙂
how I adore the color of this polish! just took it off after wearing for 4 days. I’m with you, I’ll wear whatever polish that suits my mood, and they are usually dark. my only problem with zoya is the drying time.
Hey suzanne!
*High five* I’m always happy to hear people choosing polishes based on their mood. It’s nail polish – the fewer rules and the greater creativity, the better, in my opinion. 😀
I’ve never noticed the slow drying time of Zoyas just because I always use my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Have you tried the Zoya top coat and quick-drying drops?
I actually have only gotten Zoyas fairly recently, although availability is certainly not my issue. I think it’s because they do a lot of very classic colors that are beautiful once you wear them, but not quite as eye catching in the bottle. Anyhow, I only own about 5 of them, but I’ve been eyeing Apple and Trixie as well as the green and purples in the True collection. We’ll see how long my willpower prevails.

Hey another Cristina!
Great picks! 🙂 And good luck holding out. 😉 Be strong!
There are no Zoya polishes in my collection, but this one certainly makes me want some. What a beautiful color!
Vampy colors are great in summer. I love taking my darker colors and tossing a glitter or holo over them because the spring/summer sun really makes them pop.
Hey karen!
None? *Gasp* If you’re getting your first Zoya polish, I’d suggest the flakies. Those are the ones I really want because they’re so gorgeous and versatile!
Wow! This looks so sophisticated and luxurious on you! (if nails can be luxurious)
I actually do the same thing… alternate colour palates on my nails so I totally understand why you’d go a bit darker after that incredible skittles manicure.
I don’t own this shade but it resembles CultNails Enigmatic a little no?
I don’t own all that many Zoyas… but Sooki is my go to red 😀

Hey Marta!
Oh, nails can most definitely be luxurious. You should know…because you rock the luxe nails all the time! 😀
I never thought to compare the two, but I just took a look, and you’re right – they look a little similar. Zoya doesn’t have the little silver micro-glitter that Cult Nails does. Interesting!
Oh my goodness! How has this flown under my radar all this time?? This is absolutely gorgeous! And it’s my bestie’s name to boot, so this is a must have for me. 🙂 But out of curiosity, how does it compare to the other purple vampies in your stash?
Lately, I’ve been wearing the heck out of Zara; I’ve been on such a pale purple/lavender kick!

Hey Carmela!
All signs point to Carmela should get this. 😉
In the bottle, Yasmeen looks a bit like Cult Nails Enigmatic like Marta suggested, although Yasmeen doesn’t have the little silver micro glitter. Off the top of my head, I’m trying to think of other purple polishes I have like it, but I can’t think of any that are dupes just yet.
Now this is for clubbing!
Hey Maria Saldana!
Haha, you’ll wear it to go clubbing, and I wear it to the grocery store! 😛
