Color Club Cold Metal Swatches & Review

Color Club Cold Metal Swatches & ReviewThere are a lot of things in this life that are high-maintenance, so I really appreciate things that are easy-going.

Color Club Cold Metal is a very easy-going polish that applies like a dream with David Beckham. 😉

Please excuse the tipwear – I wore it for several days before photographing it.

If you love bold blue nail polish that’s highly pigmented, you’ll be a fan of this. 🙂

It feels like it’s been some time since I’ve worn a vivid blue like this, so it was like a breath of fresh, Smurfy air.

√ Blue foil

Key Notes

Color Club Cold Metal Review

Colour

Color Club Cold Metal is a deep blue that would pop against any skin tone. It’s rich and gorgeous, and I don’t have anything exactly like this in my collection.

However, even so, I don’t think that this is a unique colour. It’s just that I don’t typically buy blue foil nail polishes, but I can’t help thinking that I’ve seen something similar before. No names come to mind off the top of my head, though…

Finish

Cold Metal by Color Club has a subtle foil finish, so it was quick and easy to remove.

Application & Formula

Color Club really knows how to perfect their formulas because this one applied so effortlessly. I had zero problems painting my nails with this, and I loved how it was highly pigmented. In fact, I got amazing coverage with just a single coat, but I still used two coats out of habit.

When you remove this, you’ll get a little bit of Smurfy Fingers at first. But after you wash your hands thoroughly a couple of times, the blue comes right off your skin, so it doesn’t stain your skin.

But, I suggest wearing a good base coat or even doubling up on your base coat, because if you don’t, there’s the potential for this blue baby to stain your nails.

Pros

  • Dark-blue foil
  • Excellent formula that’s easy to apply & remove
Cons

  • Has the potential to stain your nails (so make sure you wear a good base coat!)

Final Verdict: 8.5/10

Cold Metal by Color Club is a great dark-blue polish to own if you don’t have many of these types of colours. The formula is great, which makes painting your nails a breeze!

Are you a fan of the foil finish? What’s your favourite blue polish?

China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve immediately came to mind, but a quick bottle check shows that they are similar, but not quite the same.

Can’t help but giggle every time you mention Smurfs that way. We have to wear ceil blue scrubs, caps, and booties in the OR where I work and we’ve always referred to them as Smurf Suits. LOL

I really like this polish! It’s gorgeous. I haven’t worn it yet, but it’s beautiful from the swatch I did on my nail wheel. Super opaque and vibrant. It came in the pack of Foiled colors I got from Ross. The only similar color in my stash that comes close is OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! but they’re not dupes though. The latter is darker and more vibrant. I think it’s a great color none the less, even if it’s not all that unique. You should try the other ones in the collection! They’re awesome.

It’s hard to choose a favorite blue because I have a lot of them that I love. But from what I’ve worn, I really like China Glaze Skyscraper, Milani Cyberspace, and Color Club Lumin-Icecent.

      Hey Melissa!

I bought a bunch of other colours in the Foiled Collection, but haven’t gotten around to wearing them yet. 🙂 It’s always a case of Too Many Polishes And So Little Time. But that’s a good ‘problem’ to have. 😉

Skyscraper is so photogenic! It totally reminds me of a starry night sky.

This reminds me a lot of Swimsuit…Nailed It, except maybe a little darker, perhaps? I am in total love with foil finishes and this looks great!

      Hey Jessica!

Yes, they’re similar, but definitely different enough to justify owning both.

Have you tried any of the other colours in the Foiled Collection?

No! I really should though! I only have one foil-finish polish right now and it’s a finish I really like so I can always justify buying more of it, haha.

      Hey Marisa!

You know, I don’t have too many foil polishes, but the nice thing about most of the ones I own is that they’re so pigmented. Gotta like a polish that doesn’t make you work too hard! 🙂

      Hey lacquerloon!

Thank you! 🙂 I don’t wear these kind of blues too often only because I get distracted by other colours, but I really DO love blue foils. Every time I wear one, it makes me happy.

WHOA – $7.99 for the entire collection? That is a HUGE SCORE! Lucky you! 😀

      Hey missadelinne!

Imagine if you actually owned every blue polish in the world? How would you decide which one to wear? It would be so difficult! 😉

I don’t even know how it is possible that I have omitted this!! I’m such a blue nail polish ho! And I must have this immediately!!!
By any chance, would you know if this is similar to Orly Sweet Peacock?

      Hey Gosia!

I actually don’t have Orly Sweet Peacock, but judging from swatches I’ve seen online, I think that Sweet Peacock is closer to OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! than Cold Metal.

You’ll be surprised to know that I haven’t worn Cold Metal by itself yet. Strange, considering my long time love affair with blue! But it really is a stunning blue; vibrant and in your face. I like foils for a quick color change as they tend to dry really fast (sometimes even faster than fast-dry polishes) and usually only take one coat for full opacity. Plus, they pack a punch in the bling department! My all-time fave blue is Cult Nails Time Traveler. Orly Sweet Peacock, Nubar Indigo Ocean and Illamasqua Phallic are tied for 2nd. 🙂

Ohhh, so THAT’s why cold Metal was sitting in the corner of the room sulking! 😛 Haha, poor thing! One day you will bring a huge smile to its face.
