Since I blow-dry and flat-iron my tresses practically every morning, and my hair is already on the drier side, I was looking into heat-protectant sprays to reduce the damage.
It seemed like most of the reviews I read online raved about the TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray, so I had to test it out for myself to see if it lived up to all the hype.
While it works really well, there was one factor that completely fizzled for me. Continue reading to find out why.

TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray Review
First thing that caught my attention when I saw it on the shelf? The nozzle spray – it really stands out from the competition. Not only is it easy to use, but it disperses the perfect fine mist. You don’t have to struggle with pressing down a small pump to get the product out like with many other heat protectants.
I use the TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray on my damp hair right before blowdrying and then again before using my flat iron. It leaves my hair soft, and it doesn’t feel crunchy at all.
According to the Canadian commercial, it protects your hair from heat damage up to 230 degrees Celsius (or 446 degrees Fahrenheit). Took a look at my Sedu flat iron heat dial, and it ranges from 250 to 410 degrees Fahrenheit. (Normally I use the 320 setting.)
So far all my points are positive. Why did I bust the product then? The fragrance is gross! This surprised me because lots of reviews I read specifically say how great it smells. But, it just goes to show you how subjective scents are to different noses. To me this smells like a very cheap floral perfume with a slight medicine undertone. When it dries, you don’t smell the nastiness anymore. Even though the smell goes away, I still find it horrible enough to smell it in the first place that I’ll never buy it again.

Final Verdict: 6/10
This product performs exactly as it promises, but if you have a sensitive nose, you should definitely smell this one before you buy it.
Which heat tamers have you tried and loved? Which ones didn’t make the grade?
I am having problems with the spray nozzle, I see it has 2 black locks on it and it won’t spray. So how do I get it to spray, am I supposed to remove the black locks? There isn’t any instructions on how to use it.
