Haul of Shame: Quo by Orly 18 Piece Mini Nail Polish Gift Set

Quo by Orly 18 Piece Mini Nail Polish Gift Set Pictures PhotosIn script, the top of this box says, “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.” Hehe, I couldn’t agree more when it comes to nail polish! πŸ˜‰

Last week, I was in Shoppers Drug Mart and was going to leave the store when something caught my eye. No, it wasn’t the life-size Justin Bieber cardboard display. (I’m not a fan, but cut-outs like that always startle me because, at first glance, I always think they’re actual people staring at me.)

What caught my eye was this Quo by Orly 18 Piece Mini Nail Polish Gift Set!

I whipped right around, picked it up, and felt my heart race like a NASCAR driver on the final lap.

Eighteen cute mini polishes in a single box? (You know that song “So This Is Love” from Disney’s Cinderella? My little lacquer heart was singing it. Forget the prince! I danced with this straight to the cashier.)

*Blows trumpet* Behold! My polish army waiting to do my bidding!

I think that there was just too much awesomeness going on that my camera couldn’t take it (or maybe it was just me with my heart palpitations) because my photos came out blurry. My hands probably were shaking for joy…

This is amazing! I saw it at Shopper’s a while ago and I was just staring at it for a few minutes! Then, I called my brother and I was like you have to get me this for Christmas! The colorselection is great and they are so cute!

      Hey maddy!

Hehe, I hope your brother does get it for you for Christmas! It’s an awesome gift – there are so many colours to choose from. And, sigh, the packaging is so cute. Gets me every time!

      Hey PinkGlitter!

I find that Sephora by OPI in general tends to be pretty expensive. I usually will only grab something from that brand if it’s a standout to me (like the way Caught with My Khakis Down was for me). Otherwise, I tend to like OPI, China Glaze, Nubar, etc. better.

The small brush on the mini polishes isn’t for everyone, especially those with wide nail beds. I actually like it, though, because I have small hands (and therefore, small fingers and nails, too). So I find that I can work with the little brush just fine. And it’s GREAT for small toenails when the OPI Pro-wide is just too big, especially for my baby toe.

I usually stick to OPI, Essie, & China Glaze but lately I’ve been splurging (only if I have a coupon or if it’s a deal though) for the Butter London brand. But like you said, only if it’s a standout color or if it’s unique.

I agree that sometimes small brushes can be useful but I know I got some minis as a “free gift with purchase” from the regular OPI brand and I couldn’t work with them which was disappointing.

          Hey PinkGlitter!

Hmm, if you can’t work with the mini OPIs, then you’ll probably have trouble, too, with these mini Quo by Orly polishes. It’s too bad because if you can deal with the brush, this is a ridiculously great little set!

    Definitely squeal-worthy!

Mini polishes are so adorable! Every time I see them, I want to adopt them to make sure that they have a loving home. I just wish they had wider brushes. That said, it would take more than one hand to count the number of times that I’ve spied a mini and ended up going out in search of their larger counterparts because I want more of the pretty colors. πŸ˜›

      Hey karen!

Hehe, and they should be so lucky as to be adopted by such a loving polish mother. πŸ˜‰

These little polishes are really great for testing out a colour – definitely more economical than buying the full-sized versions right off the bat!

      Hey Rainbowify Me!

When I got this, I felt like giving myself a skittle manicure just so that I could hurry up and wear more of the colours ASAP! πŸ˜›

I was hunting this down when Mary/mellinail posted a photo on Twitter. I actually thought they were full sized bottles so imagine my disappointment when I saw minis. πŸ˜› If they were full sized, I might have gotten them, but as it were, I really only wanted it for Rock Show and Rock Star. Not enough to justify the purchase so I passed. I hope those two aren’t limited to the set so I can get me some full sized bottles!

Btw, are you swatching these? Would love to see photos! πŸ˜€ Happy Friday, Mary!

      Hey Carmela!

Hehe, I know exactly the photo you’re talking about. When she tweeted it, I kept my eyes peeled for it. My local Shoppers only got it fairly recently.

But I’m glad they were only mini bottles. πŸ™‚ I like trying out many colours for a low total price, and the size is adorable! I wouldn’t have bought it if they were full-sized because I’m not sure how much I’ll like the pinks.

I’ll have to wear some! πŸ˜€ Even though I call my photos “swatches”, they’re not actually swatches. I just take photos of the colours I actually wear out. So now it’s the hardest thing – decided which one to wear first! Maybe I should do a skittle manicure! Haha…I want to wear them all, but I only have 10 nails.

      Happy Friday, Carmela! πŸ™‚

      Hey Amber!

It’s going to be hard to just wear one polish at a time. Or maybe I could do some kind of nail art with a few. Not sure yet! πŸ™‚

      Hey Koshka!

I would LOVE to find Rock Show in the full-size bottle! If I see it, I’ll definitely tweet and/or blog about it. That one’s a beauty.

And it’s good that you have self-control when it comes to polish. I could learn a lot from you! πŸ˜‰

I did consider buying this (I think it’s a great deal when you consider the price per bottle, and minis are as good to me as full-size bottles since I’ve never finished a full-size bottle of polish) but there are just too many glitters! This won’t make me popular, but I really like creme finishes, and just, as a personal preference, do not go for glitters most of the time. Too bad! There are some cremes in their full-size range that are pulling my eye, so maybe I’ll check one of those out.

Too many glitter polishes? VALERIE – “Too much of a good thing is wonderful” as the package says. Heheh πŸ˜›

I can understand why you wouldn’t want it since you favour cremes. πŸ™‚ Money saved!

:O :O :O what an awesome buy! I love the color combinations! ‘Precious’ looks gorgeous in the bottle! I actually don’t have any mini bottles in my collection, so this might be my first! I haven’t seen this set in shoppers (as of tuesday). I will need to check back and see if they’re in stock now! How many applications do you usually get with the minis? For full size bottles, it’s often hard to reach the last 1/4th (and it usually becomes all goopy). Is this the same with minis?

      Hey Vivian!

Some locations got them much earlier. The one near me got them just last week, but other people found their set over a week before me, I think.

I’ve never actually used up an entire mini bottle before because if I really like the colour, I just go out, buy the big bottle, and then just use the mini one for the rare time I paint my toenails.

A few years ago, I bought the OPI La Collection de France mini set and used OPI Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not 2 times. There was still quite a bit left. But I do have small hands and small nails (in proportion), so it could be different if you have larger nail beds and also if you apply more coats. For the convenience of trying out many colours for a decent price, I think it’s worth it. You should be able to get a few manicures out of one mini bottle – maybe 5-6, but this is a guess. I only painted my nails twice with the mini Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not. The bottle almost at the halfway point.

Too much of a good thing is a “drool” thing as well πŸ˜‰
These are sooo fun … kind of like being startled by the Justin Bieber cutout lol! You are too cute/funny!

I especially like the family reunion photos. The polishes couldn’t have come to a better place to call home… some have their mommy, and that glittery relative (although quite the attention seeker) do seem very cheery and welcoming πŸ˜€ )
