Slatkin & Co. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Review & PicturesI’m a sucker for bakery-scented candles. If it makes me think that the wax could be edible, I’m so there!

The Slatkin & Co. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Candle from Bath & Body Works smells so yummy, you may have to remind yourself not to check the oven.

It’s exactly how you imagine this to smell, and it’s wonderful!

If Slatkin & Co. continue making bakery scents (which I’m sure they will), I’m going to be in a lot of trouble! 😛 (But I like trouble when it’s scented or in River City, Music Man!)

Slatkin & Co. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Candle Review

Fragrance

The name of this candle really says it all. You can smell sweet raisins at the top of the fragrance, but it’s rounded out nicely with cozy oatmeal.

The brown sugar and vanilla extract may be there, but it blends with the raisin note.

Scent Throw

For a mini candle, the scent throw for this one was pretty impressive. No, it won’t fill up an entire large room, but it will scent the air of a small one. I’m sure that if you get the large 3-wick version of this, it would be really strong.

Burning

Perfect and even burning! The wick didn’t drown, there was no canyoning, and the flame remained strong the entire time I lit it, which was for approximately 3 hours. (Don’t think you’re supposed to keep these mini ones lit for too long, but I tend to forget and let it burn…)

Packaging

The cute size makes it fun to look at. And the yummy (yet elegant) graphic of the cookies on the front looked so edible that I just had to bake oatmeal cookies a while later (although I left out the raisins).

Seasonal Availability

This is a new fragrance for fall 2011, so if you really like it, you should stock up in case they don’t bring it back next year. But if a scent is really beloved, Bath & Body Works (and Slatkin & Co.) are usually pretty smart and they’ll bring it back.

    Pros

  • Smells like a real oatmeal raisin cookie
  • Sweet, but not overpowering
  • Mini candle had a good scent throw
  • Good value – mini candle lets you test out a scent without committing
    Cons
  • Seasonal scent available for a limited time

Final Verdict: 9/10

This candle smells awesome. The only reason I took off one point is for subjective reasons. Quite simply: I like other scents way better. That’s not to say this one isn’t good. It’s just that I tend to go for scents like Frosted Cupcake or Leaves. If oatmeal bakery scents are your favourite, you will love this one!

Did you buy any new candles lately? Now that fall is approaching, are you reaching for more pumpkin or spicy scents? Or do you love gourmand candles any time of year?

Now this is a scent I can totally get into! I love scents with vanilla and if it can make my house smell like I’ve been baking cookies all day, all the better.

I can see this being perfect to have around the holidays. Altho I WILL be baking a lot then (as I usually do) so I might actually not need it. 😉

      Hey Carmela!

Hehe, yeah, nothing beats the real thing. But when you’re not in the mood for baking, this really hits the spot…the oatmeal-raisin-cookie spot.

      Hey Liane!

Hehe, I think it’s the ‘getting the scent right’ part that is the hardest. That’s why I like to stock up when B&BW has their sales. They’re really affordable.

      Hey D’Andrea!

Fingers crossed that Bath & Body Works re-releases it, since you enjoy it so much.

You should try e-mailing them and suggesting it. If enough people do the same and there’s a demand, they may resurrect it! You never know!
