L.A. Girl Metal Antique Gold Review & Swatches

Out of all the polishes from the collection, L.A. Girl Metal Antique Gold is definitely the one that surprises me the most. Honestly, it’s a color I threw into my order only because I was interested in seeing how L.A. Girl antiqueize golds. (Yes, that’s a word. No, I lied: it’s not.)

Well, the result is not really antique gold, but it is definitely precious. And I’m seriously in love… even more than I like Deep Sea Mica which was the winner for me in this collection. I have a couple more to try from L.A. Girl Metal, but I have a feeling this shade is going to take home the (antique) gold for me!

LA Girl Antique Gold Review

Color

LA Girl Antique Gold is an olivy-mossy green that has a sort of an overlay of gold. And if you look really closely, there are tiny green and red specks, too!

These hues complement each other so gorgeously, I think. Especially in the sunlight – it looks like the color is glowing from within!

Opacity

The only complaint I have about LA Girl Metal Antique Gold is the opacity. I used three coats in all my swatches to get the intensity and coverage you see. It’s not completely awful, but two is my normal #.

Application & Formula

Smooth as liquid gold! It goes on so smoothly and easily because the formula isn’t too thick or too thin. The brush held onto the polish nicely, allowing for easy application. And it levels itself out on the nail for a completely smooth finish.

Ingredients

L.A. Girl Antique Girl is Big-3 Free, so don’t worry about DBP, formaldehyde or toluene appearing in this polish.

Pros

  • Toluene-, formaldehyde- & DBP-free
  • Applies easily & evenly
  • Affordable
  • Beautiful mossy color with gold
  • Dries evenly & glossily
  • Smooth formula
Cons

  • Needs 3 coats

Final Verdict: 9/10

Even though the color that I got wasn’t totally what I was expecting, I love it. And I love how affordable it is, too. Sometimes quality does come with affordability!

Have you tried L.A. Girl polishes? Do you like green shades, or would you have preferred this to be more yellow goldish?

If you like Antique Gold, you’ll love LA Colors Cactus. I got both in the same haul, and only when they arrived did I realize how similar they are. Except Cactus isn’t semi-sheer like Antique Gold is when you apply it, and it’s got these interesting flecks of orange and green thrown into the mix.

OoOO. I’d be sure to check it out! I got a few LA Colors polishes, too, but I haven’t worn them yet. How do you like the brand?
