MAC Lipgelees are my favorite lip glosses because they make my lips feel smooth and moisturized, while giving them a lot of shine.
They have a thicker consistency, which I prefer because I’m not a fan of Vaseline-thin products that last all of 5 minutes and force me to constantly re-apply it like some sort of addict.
The first one I tried a couple of years ago was the MAC Goldensoft Lipgelee.
Although it can look super blingy and intimidating in the tube, on your lips, it imparts a very natural-looking sheen with peachy-gold particles that really catch the light.
The sheer formula makes it great for any skin tone. Plus it lends itself to being used as a layer over lipstick.
This lip gloss was my go-to daily staple until I started buying other Lipgelee shades and lip products from non-MAC brands for variety.
If you don’t mind spending a little more and if you’re looking for a lip gloss that’s easy-to-wear, goes with virtually everything, and isn’t a boisterous hue, I highly recommend Goldensoft.

MAC Goldensoft Lipgelee Review
Color
On the lips, the MAC Lipgelee in Goldensoft is a shimmery and sheer peachy gold. Very wearable anytime. It’s neutral and translucent enough to go with any skin tone. Adds just the right bit of natural oomph to wake up your lips and make them appear plumper (especially when the tiny sparkles catch the light).
The sparkles in the gloss aren’t in-your-face-disco-ball like the MAC Dazzleglasses, but they impart a very healthy ‘glow’ to your lips.
I think this color is particularly gorgeous in the summer when the sun’s out. (But make sure you wear a lip balm with SPF 15 or higher underneath to protect your lips. (The Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15 is a good pick that smells good, too!)
Formula
This is a smoooooooth operator! My lips feel soft, smooth, and moisturized when I slick this on. And I love how the texture has a thicker consistency than Vaseline. (I like thicker glosses because they last longer, and because I don’t like feeling like I rubbed greasy chicken on my lips. Nasty!)
MAC Lipgelees last me 2-3 hours before they start to wear off. This is if I haven’t eaten or drank anything. This is also if I haven’t talked the ears off someone.
Despite being thick, it’s surprisingly not sticky. I don’t mind stickiness, but just thought I should let you know. MAC Dazzleglasses are very sticky. Lip balms aren’t. MAC Lipgelees feel closer to a lip balm to me.
Packaging
The Goldensoft Lipgelee by MAC comes in a squeeze tube with a screw-on cap and a plastic slanted-tip applicator.
Although I like doe-foot sponge applicators best, I admit that they’re not as hygienic as the plastic slanted-tip ones and the sponge type does soak up a lot more product.
Once you squeeze out the amount you need and slide what you want on your lips, the applicator tip holds a bit of product. When you put the cap back on, some of the lip gloss gets onto the inside of the cap. Sure, it’s a bit messy, but it doesn’t bother me.
Price
MAC Lipgelees are the most expensive lip glosses I have ever purchased. Normally I go for more economical (yet still good quality) choices like the NYX Mega Shine Lip Glosses. But occasionally splurging on a MAC Lipgelee is totally worth it.
Fragrance
Like most MAC lip products, Goldensoft has that subtle, yummy signature MAC vanilla-batter scent I love. Whenever I buy a non-MAC gloss, I always miss this scent.

Final Verdict: 9.5/10
If you want to try just one MAC Lipgelee, I highly recommend it in Goldensoft because it’ll flatter anyone, it’s easy to wear with any eye look, and it really feels moisturizing.
Have you tried any MAC Lipgelees? What’s the most you’ve ever spent on lip gloss? Do you prefer squeeze tubes with plastic applicators or hard tubes with sponge-wand or brush applicators?
I had one a few years ago and lost it but I remember liking it too! Note to self: must look into making a possible purchase…
Great post!

Hey JC!
Goldensoft is such a pretty color, isn’t it? Very easy to wear, but what a splurge for a lip gloss! And I thought it was part of the permanent collection, but when I was preparing my post, I checked out the MAC website and saw that it’s listed as a limited edition. Hmmm…wonder if that’s wrong or not.
Ooooh very pretty! I’ve always stuck to MAC Lipglasses; I’ve never thought about trying the Lipgelee because I prefer wand applicators, but this is so pretty and great-sounding that I don’t think I can resist! 😀

You’ll love the Lipgelee – you get a lot of product and it really feels moisturizing!
Let me know if you decide to pick one up. 🙂
Wow… This looks exactly like one of the NEW Mineralize lipgloss that came out with Apres Chic collection.
And no… nothing can replace my Philosophy lip glosses.
Sooo yummy. Lol. And great deals too! $10
