The other day, I bumped into a “friend” from the past. Awkward. We exchanged pleasantries, said we’d Facebook keep in touch, and ended it with a hug. The odd thing is that the only thought that ran across my head was, “Boy, I’m glad I don’t stink.” (Not that that’s a usual concern for me…I think).
I didn’t have perfume on that day, but I was wearing The Body Shop Mango Body Butter. I love the fragrance that it gives off – it’s fresh and fruity without being overpowering. I usually don’t like sweet scents, but there’s something so refreshing about this that I absolutely love. So when The Body Shop had a sale, I naturally picked up the matching body scrub.
Overall, I like The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub. It’s especially good for layering underneath the body butter. But I’m not as head over heels as I am with the body butter.

The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Scrub Review
Fragrance
Unfortunately the scent of The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Scrub isn’t the same as the body butter’s. It’s similar, but the body lotion had a freshness to it that this doesn’t have. It seems to have an extra layer of earthiness to it. I’m not saying it smells like stale mangoes! Just not freshly picked ones? It still smells good.
Texture
The scrubs I’m used to are usually more grainy and watery. However, The Body Shop Mango Body Exfoliating Scrub is dryer than expected, but it still smoothes over the skin well. The texture is more like a slush and not grainy at all.
Usage
I apply this before I turn on the water in the shower. I find that dry sloughing exfoliates the best. If it goes on too dry for you, just add a little water. Then rinse. I use this about 3 times a week. I wouldn’t exfoliate every day as it could strip away your skin’s natural protective barrier.
Effects on Skin
Even before getting out of the shower, I can see the effects of The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Scrub on my skin. The water beads off easier instead of pooling on the dead skin. After rinsing and drying off, my skin feels softer and moisturized like I just put on lotion.
And the mango fragrance lingers. Not for too long though, maybe 30-40 minutes.
Ingredients
In doing a little research on the site, I found out that The Body Shop uses organic sugar (along with salt) as the exfoliants. Also, they’ve included organic soya oil (to moisturize) that is part of a fair trade program that supports organic farmers in brazil.
Value
I got my TBS Mango Body Scrub at a great discount, but I think it’s still worth the $16 CAD regular price tag. You seriously don’t need to use a lot. A little goes a long way, so this tub will last me months and months.

Final Verdict: 8.9/10
I find that most body scrubs don’t match the fragrance of its lotion counterpart (if there is one). I’ve experienced this with Bath & Body Works’ Rainkissed Leaves – the lotion smells so much better! So I wasn’t too disappointed to find that the Mango Body Scrub doesn’t smell exactly the same as the Body Butter. I still like it!
What’s your favorite body scrub? Do you make ever make your own with a recipe?
I was just talking about my Body Shop scrub & butter yesterday! The cocoa butter set is my absolute fav. It looks a little different from the mango one….mango looks more like slush (prob because of the sugar) where the cocoa butter one is more of a cream with a grouind almond base. I want to try this type too! LoOoOove The Body SHop stuff 😉

Hi Shimmer!
For the longest time, I’ve been a B&BW girl. But lately, I’m loving The Body Shop stuff, too! What other products of theirs do you have?
Oooh, it looks yummy haha! Seriously it looks like poured peaches or something 🙂 Isn’t a bit expensive though?

Hi Alaeis!
It does look like pureed peaches or at least mango slush. 🙂 Most of the scrubs I’ve tried are around the same price – $10-$14. If you catch TBS stuff on sale, it’s actually really good value. Have you tried their scrubs?
I’ve tried a bar of soap that was for exfoliating the butt and thigh area; I loved it! So I’m probably gonna drop by the store some time soon 😉

I’ve never tried their exfoliating soaps, but I’ll check it out the next time I visit. Let me know if you had a TBS haul and what items you purchase!
I can see the effects of The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Scrub. Is dryer than expected. It still smells good.b
