Lipglosses, lipsticks, lipstains… While I sometimes do wear these products, most times I’d rather do without. Many reasons for this: I don’t like how they feel on my lips, or I usually forget to reapply. The only lip product I’m faithful to is a lip balm to moisturize my puckers – I absolutely can’t stand chapped lips!
I was uber excited to try the NYX Tinted Lip Spa Pinky Winky. I’m all for a lip product that moisturizes while adding a little bit of color! I chose Pinky Winky because it looks like a fun sheer pink that will add some blushing highlights to my lips. Does it live up to my expectations?

NYX Pinky Winky Tinted Lip Spa Review
My first impression of NYX Pinky Winky Tinted Lip Spa was actually a pleasant surprise. While I like NYX products, I usually dislike the packaging because it feels and looks cheap. But I didn’t feel that way about NYX Tinted Lip Balm! Sure, it could’ve been better made, but the black tubing actually looks decent.
Plus, there’s a clear viewing hole at the top of the cap. A great idea for seeing which color the lip balm is. The size of the NYX Tinted Lip Balm Pinky Winky is slightly bigger than a normal-sized drugstore brand’s, so what I paid was a pretty good price.
Second impression of the NYX Pinky Winky Tinted Lip Balm wasn’t as nice though. I’ve used it for a while now, and I still can’t get over the smell. You don’t really notice it after a bit, but every time you apply it, you’ll get a whiff of it. It smells like fresh plastic. Or stale mints… but without the minty flavor. It’s hard to describe. Let’s just say it’s not all that pleasant.
As for the color of NYX Pinky Winky Lip Balm…. Well, it’s sheer as expected, and it doesn’t provide as much color as I had hope. But I think it’s just the shade that I chose. Even on the site, Pinky Winky doesn’t look to be a strong hue. I don’t mind how sheer this is; it’s great for days when I just want moisture without a whole lotta color.
Does it provide moisture? Yup! NYX Pinky Winky Lip Balm actually makes my lips feel quite nice. If my puckers are irritated, applying the NYX Lip Spa also helps to calm it down a little. The consistency isn’t too thick nor is it too slippery. It feels natural on the lips while moisturizing them. You get a very slight cooling effect on the lips, although it’s not very noticeable.
But if your puckers are seriously chapped, don’t expect the Tinted Lip Spa to heal them. You’ll need something stronger for that, like Chapstick. However, it’s good if you intend on applying the Lip Spa all the time to keep your lips soft all day.
And you will have to apply it a lot because the NYX Lip Spa Pinky Winky doesn’t stay on very long. I give it about 1.5 hours at most before all the product disappears, and this is if I don’t eat anything.

Final Verdict: 7.6/10
While there is room for improvements, I think the NYX Pinky Winky Tinted Lip Spa is a fun product. I’m going to try the other color that I got, NYX Tinted Lip Spa Champagne Bubble. If it has decent color payoff, I’ll be getting a few more of these!
What do you think? Would you rather just wear a lipgloss, lipstick or lipstain? Share your makeup routine!
I have a few of the Tinted Lip Balms – I like them in summer when it’s too ho to wear much more than some tinted moisturiser and mascara. I don’t find them particularly moisturising though, and you’re right about them not lasting long.

Hiyo Dee,
I agree: these lip balms would be great in the summer for a lightweight wash of color on the lips! Which colors do you have?
I have Vintage, Sake, Juicy, Copacobana, Spirit and Jewel. I’ve got swatches of some of them on my blog, but I’m reswatching them in the very near future as part of my massive NYX swatch update. 🙂

That’s OK! 🙂 Between the two of us, we basically have all the colors! lol I also have Champagne Bubble, which I haven’t tried yet. I’m looking forward to it, especially if it has better color payoff than Pinky Winky.
