Zoya Rebel is from the Awaken Collection, which is new for Spring 2014, and it’s one of those shades that also has an icy look to it.
On one hand, it reminds me of raindrops, but on the other hand, it conjures up mental images of icicles and Old Man Winter blowing cold air over the frigid land.
Unfortunately, yesterday, I woke up to lots of snow. On my way to work, I snapped a photo of the snow-covered plants. You may have seen the Instagram photo I posted. Yup – winter strikes back, indeed!
I’m still waiting for Mr. Winter to get the memo that he’s overstaying his welcome. He needs to share the calendar year with 3 others, y’know? C’mon! Sharing is caring!

Zoya Rebel Review
Colour
Whether you see a swimming-pool blue or an ice-storm blue is in the eye of the nail-polish beholder. I can picture it swinging either way because it has very fine, silver shimmer throughout that gives it a sheen from a distance.
This is more saturated in person than it appears in my photos. That’s probably because the day I photographed it, the weather was gloomy and very cloudy.
Finish
The silver shimmer is dense, and it lends a very icy feel to the overall look. From far away, it looks almost metallic, but when you look closely, you can see the individual pieces of shimmer.
Application & Formula
Application of Rebel by Zoya was a breeze. The formula was pigmented, so I just needed 2 coats to achieve full opacity. I used medium coats, but the pigmentation is so good on this one that you could probably get the same coverage with 2 thin coats.

Final Verdict: 8/10
This shade will add a touch of spring (or winter) to your nails, and I think it would make a fantastic base for nail stamping and other nail art. It’s bold without being too bright, and even when the light is dim, you can still see the shimmer reflect the light.
If you did nail art on top of Zoya Rebel, what would it look like? When do you think the spring weather will hit us and be consistently mild?
How gorgeous is this color?! I think I’ll have to buy this one too.
Hey Melissa!
Hehe, I love your growing list of awesome to-buy polishes! Your collection must really be expanding. True nailphile, through and through! 🙂
oh, wow!! O.O …and i thought i loved the lilac color! The sad thing is, i saw this collection at Younkers when i was there (it’s like a 45 min drive so i don’t get there often) and i didn’t get a single one! :-(( i spent too much on OPI colors that aren’t available where i live.
You’re right! This one’s perfect for spring.. Come snow or crystal waters 🙂 i love it!!
Hey Pema Grey!
Well, hehe, it’s good to hear that you didn’t drive that far for nothing, and that you managed to score some OPI shades that were otherwise hard to find for you!
I’m curious now – which OPI shades did you get?
Wow! This is a very pretty blue. I will have to check this out. I dig it.
Hey Robbie!
You’ll love it, as well as the other colours in the Zoya Awaken Collection! They really have that spring vibe, which we really need when the weather isn’t exactly cooperating! Haha!
Beautiful color!
Hey Marissa!
Thank you – glad you like it, too!
