“You need to give it up. Had about enough. It’s not hard to see. The boy is mine.”
When I heard about Zoya Monica, the first thing that sprung to mind was the sultry song from the late 90s featuring Monica and Brandy.
Yup, here’s another shade from the Zoya NYFW 2012 Collection!
A soft blue-toned purple like Monica is simple, but it still gets my attention.
And with creme polishes, you really can do all sorts of nail art on top. They make for great base colours.

Zoya Monica Review
Colour
As usual, Zoya has the best description for their polishes. Zoya Monica is a dark soft blue-toned purple.
I’d describe this purple as being darker than China Glaze Grape Pop and with a slightly dustier look that makes it more cozy and less vibrant.
Finish
Monica by Zoya has a creme finish, which I like to call the Humble Finish. It’s not flashy like glitters or duochromes, but it still has charm and gets attention. When polishes are cremes, I feel like they need to have a great colour to have any impact and to keep them from becoming a snooze fest.
Monica is a simple purple done well. And because it’s not flashy, it would make for a great base for nail art, I think.
Application & Formula
The formula was wonderful! It applied smoothly, and it was very pigmented. You should only need to use a maximum of 2 coats to achieve complete opacity. Thumbs up!
Animal-Friendliess
Those who are trying to support more animal-friendly brands will be pleased to know that not only are Zoya nail polishes cruelty-free, but they’re also vegan.

Final Verdict: 7/10
Wearing this specific shade of purple really put me in the mood for fall, and that makes me excited! I can’t wait for spiced-pumpkin lattes, seeing the leaves change colours, and devouring tons of pumpkin pie!
Do you have a nail polish that you always reach for in the fall? What do you look forward to the most in the fall?
You somehow always leave a song in my head, lol! That was my jam!!!
I love this polish on you, such a pretty fall color!
I typically reach for dusty shades and grays and browns. But honestly, if I’m in the mood, I throw a bright color in there from time to time too.
I look forward to the cute sweaters and light jackets in the fall.

Hey MariJo!
Haha, that’s cool. Let’s bob our heads together as we paint our nails. 😉
Yet again I’m in awe of your swatches. <3 purple! This is a stunning colour, and I would GLADLY make it the first Zoya for my collection 😀
The reason I like fall is because I LOVE winter and the sooner fall is here, the sooner winter is here too 😀
Hey Erica!
Wow, thank you very much for saying that. It’s so sweet of you! 😀 I try my best, and it helps when the sun comes out and cooperates. Hehe, Mr. Sun is such a diva sometimes. 😉
It sure is beautiful! 😀
