Butter London Two Fingered Salute Swatches & Review

Butter London Two Fingered Salute Swatches & ReviewToday I’m really excited to bring you a review onΒ Butter London Two Fingered Salute!

This amazingly unique nail polish was a sweet surprise gift from my friend Mary, the blogger of My Numerous Diversions.

I think the world of her because life has dealt her many challenging hands, but she handles situations with a strength and grace that I find very admirable. (Plus the fact that she’s a psychologist and a university professor only adds to her coolness.)

She found me through my other blog, which was actually my first blog. (It’s completely different from Swatch And Learn, and I won’t be linking to it here because I want them to be completely separate for now. My other blog is more private, and I’d like to keep it that way.)

Over a year ago, I was going through a tough situation, and although a ‘stranger’ at the time, Mary reached out to me and did a random act of kindness that she probably thought was small, but it meant a lot to me.

Since then, we’ve gotten to know each other better. We’ve went for coffee, shopped for yarn, and most recently, enjoyed a delicious Indian dinner.

We both appreciate humour. Case in point: She gave me a Rubella plush toy. I wasted no time in bringing it to work and putting it on my computer. Many jokes about ‘the virus she gave me’ were tossed around. And, no, it didn’t get old. πŸ˜‰

I get a lot of happiness from blogging, but finding an amazing friend was something I never expected. I am very grateful!

But now…back to the polish! πŸ˜‰

P.S.Β In case you didn’t know, ‘two fingered salute’ is a hand gesture that’s similar to ‘giving the bird’…

The Best of 2012

The Best of 2012Another year is coming to a close! Are you ready to see what 2013 brings?

What you probably didn’t know is that in 2012, I faced a lot of stressful issues in my personal life that caused me great emotional pain.

Blogging and interacting with you helped me push through it instead of giving up.

If you’ve been following Swatch And Learn for even a little while, I hope it’s evident that blogging and interacting with readers bring me a lot of happiness. Yes, it is hard work and very challenging to keep up, but I’m not the type of person who’s afraid of pulling up my sleeves to get things done.

Thank you for listening to what I think and for valuing my opinion, post after post and tweet after tweet. That is a big compliment!

Most of all, thank you, dear readers, for being encouraging and kind as well as for cracking the much-needed joke.

You remind me that genuinely good people are still out there. I needed that reminder, and you gave it to me in spades!

So, while in this post I list the best of 2012Β in terms of nail polish, nail art, etc., I want you to know that Swatch And Learn readers are really the best of 2012!

Butter London Wallis Swatches & Review

Butter London Wallis Swatches & ReviewI’ve been showing a lot of Butter London nail polishes lately, haven’t I? πŸ™‚ I’m on a ‘buttered’ roll! *Groans* (Sorry, but I had to make that cheesy joke…It was way too difficult to resist.)

Today, I bring you the final one I own – Butter London Wallis! (Yes, I only own 3 Butter London nail polishes, believe it or not!)

It’s actually the very first Butter London nail polish I owned. From the moment I saw swatches of it crop up online, I knew that it had to be mine, and it certainly didn’t disappoint me when I wore it. πŸ˜€

P.S. Every time I wear Wallis, I think about this one guy, Walid, who I used to work with at my part-time job when I was in high school. My co-workers gave him the nickname ‘Wally’, but, since I wanted to be different, I called him ‘Walrus’. Haha, he didn’t have a snaggle tooth, but I thought it was funny and cute. Don’t worry – he didn’t have any objections, and later he confessed that he warmed up to ‘Walrus’ and considered it endearing. πŸ™‚

Butter London Bossy Boots Swatches & Review

Butter London Bossy Boots Swatches & ReviewSometimes I feel like I’m the only one who isn’t into tea. Sure, I’m a big fan of iced tea, but any other kind of tea just doesn’t do a thing for me.

I’ll sometimes drink lemon and honey tea when my throat’s sore. If I go to a Chinese restaurant, I’ll drink Oolong tea. And, once, I tried strawberry tea. (It smelled more incredible than it tasted.)

Despite trying all sorts of tea, I’ve never found one that made me want to drink it more (except iced tea).

All of this sounds pretty random, but what got me going off on a tangent is that Butter London Bossy Boots from the Spring Summer 2012 Collection immediately made me think of green-tea ice cream. (Ever try it? I’m not a fan of the flavour. Big surprise, right? :P)

Butter London Bossy Boots is an interesting pale green that I like, but it isn’t love. I think it would look better on a different skin tone – either richer or lighter. What do you think?

Butter London Trout Pout Swatches & Review

Butter London Trout Pout Swatches & ReviewFirst of all, would you look at how big that cap is? It practically dominates the majority of the photo!

This is the first Butter London polish that I’ve ever worn, so it’s quite dear to my heart.

It’s called Butter London Trout Pout, which hails from the Spring Summer 2012 Collection.

I think the name is hilarious and cheeky – very fitting for an eye-catching coral pink!

So what did I think of the Butter London nail polish formula? There’s only one way to find out!
