(CLOSED) Giveaway: Win Seche Nail Products! (2 Winners)

Seche Giveaway on Swatch And LearnCongrats to Connie W. and Vivian!

Both winners replied to my e-mail and claimed their prizes. This giveaway is officially closed.

To everyone else, thank you so much for participating. I have another awesome giveaway lined up, so stay tuned for more details. πŸ˜‰

*~*~*~*~Β *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Recently I got an offer to receive a bunch of free Seche nail products. But I have soooo many bottles of base and top coats already that’ll take years to finish.

Instead of hoarding them in preparation for the Nail Polish Apocalypse (I hope I’m just making that up! *Gulp*), I thought it would be cool if I could give them to you.

Seche PR was on board with the idea! πŸ˜€ Woo hoo!

This giveaway’s open to residents of Canada and the U.S.

Ends January 11, 2012 at 11:11 am (Eastern).

What’s Up for Grabs:

Each winner will receive all these:

(If you’re not familiar with the top coat, please click on the above link for the review I did in 2010. To this day, it’s still my Holy Grail top coat, and if you’ve looked at any of my nail-art or nail-swatch posts, the vast majority of the time, I’ve used this top coat!)

Winners: There will be 2 winners chosen from the entire pool of participants.

Who Can Enter: Canadians and U.S. residents

Seche Giveaway on Swatch And Learn

How to Enter: Leave a comment on this post about anything that’s on your mind. It could be about what’s on your nails now, what you’re looking forward to in 2012, etc.

Rules: Only 1 entry per person. (I want to give everyone an equal chance of winning. If you leave more than 1 comment, I will only enter you into the giveaway once.)

How I’ll Choose the Winners & How You’ll Claim Your Prize:

  • After the giveaway closes, I’ll use Random.org to randomly choose 2 winners.
  • I’ll send a congratulatory e-mail to the winners sometime on Wednesday January 11. The winners will have 48 hours to reply and each will send me their name and mailing address.
  • After receiving the reply, I’ll forward your information over to Seche PR, and they’ll mail the prizes to you directly! πŸ™‚
  • I’ll announce the winners on this page, in the giveaway-tab post, on Twitter, and on Google+. If I fail to hear back from the winners within 48 hours of my e-mail, I’ll be forced to choose a new winner(s), and I don’t want to do that.
  • Please add swatchandlearn@gmail.com to your Safe List in your e-mail inbox so that my message doesn’t wind up in your junk folder by accident.

I Appreciate Your Support:

  • Even though you don’t have to do any of the below, I would love if you interact with me by:
    • Commenting on my other posts
    • Following me on Facebook (Swatch And Learn), Twitter (@SwatchAndLearn), Google Friend Connect, Google+ (Mary), beautylish (Mary), and Pinterest (Mary)

Awesomeeee. Unlike others, I’m actually inlove with seche’s crystal base coat rather than their top coat. I find seche vite is too thick for me. I have about 3 bottles of the base coat though, muahaha… I could use another bottle! On a more random note, did you know that china glaze is owned by AII (american international industries) which also owns Seche products! I hope your day was good. Are you going to be posting up any nail art ontop of your pink mani soon?

      Hey Vivian!

Have you tried using Seche Restore to thin out your bottle of Seche Vite? It makes the top coat easier to apply. Usually I like to add some thinner when the bottle gets to the halfway mark.

Yes, I knew that AII is behind China Glaze and Seche. πŸ™‚ But I bet a lot of other people didn’t. It would be fun to play a game of nail-polish trivia! πŸ™‚

I took a bunch of photos of the Konadicure over my pink manicure, but I still haven’t weeded through them or edited any. Definitely I’ll try to get them up sooner rather than later.

I think that would be a lot of fun. A trivia contest! Maybe you can facilitate it via twitter! Maybe even some random nail goodies as prizes. I think some of us would get a kick out of it, and reading the answers would be fun. I love reading fun facts about nail polish.

As for the seche vite. I did think about adding thinner.. but I kept thinking about all the toluene. I heard it yellows your nails! I used about 1/3 of my seche vite, and haven’t touched it since. Have you had any yellowing problems with it?

oh oh oh! and another randomness: CHINA GLAZE MAGNETIX WILL BE IN STORES AROUND JAN. 15TH! I have been WAITING for a cheaper alternative to the 0.33oz bottles of Nails Inc, layla..etc for soooo long. Are you excited? I sure am! *giggle fit* Are you gonna buy any? ‘CAUSE I SURE AM! *giggles madly*

Maybe I’ll do one sometime. πŸ™‚ We’ll see!

Hmm…I’m not sure if it has made my nails yellow. A lot of times my nails get stained because of a super pigmented polish. But, it’s possible. (I’m pretty much always wearing nail polish, so stained or yellow nails doesn’t bother me as much as someone who sports bare nails.)

Ohhh, YAY! I haven’t heard about the Magnetix collection yet, but that’s awesome. Hope that China Glaze keeps the price point reasonable. Then I may actually want to try magnetic polish! EXCITING! Thanks for letting me know. *Has a giggle fit with you*

I like watching Chelsea Lately sometimes, too. She’s so different than a lot of other people on late-night talk shows. For one, she’s a woman, and I really respect how she’s paving the way. Haha, and she always makes me laugh when she says something crude.

I’m looking forward to growing out long and healthy nails in 2012. I’ve developed the habit of biting my nails and realize that its type to stop. This set would certainly push me in the right direction !

Haha, for some reason, I read what you wrote verrrry wrong. I thought for a second that you said, “I’m looking forward to growing out a long and healthy BEARD in 2012.” Geez! πŸ˜› That would CERTAINLY make you stand apart from everyone else, but probably not in a way you’d like. πŸ˜›

Good for you for trying to stop your habit of biting your nails. You know, I used to bite my nails all the time when I was in elementary school. Whenever I tell people this, they’re always surprised because they’ve never seen me bite my nails for years. I stopped because one day, I looked down, and all my cuticles looked nasty and the edges of my nails were ragged. Although it took over a week, I was able to nix the nail biting on sole will-power. So….I have the utmost faith in you to nix the habit, too. If you really want to do it, you will! πŸ˜€

I’ve been browsing all my favorite beauty blogs and feeling sorry for myself. I’ve misplaced my camera and I am unable to take photos for my own blog. Shucks. I miss blogging and I have so many new things to share! LOL. I’ve been getting by because I had some photos on my computer that just needed to be edited and blogged about. I’m running out of reserves! Thanks for the giveaway. Good luck to all who enter!

This is an awesome giveaway. Can you believe some people don’t even know about Seche Vite?! I bought my mom, my soon to be sister in law and myself new bottles for Christmas. It’s definitely the HG of top coats. For 2012… as far as nail polish goes… I’m looking forward to new collections and although I haven’t put my FP Special Effects up on my blog yet and they’re very pretty, I’m already kinda over flakies. :-/ What are YOU looking forward to for 2012? Thanks for this awesome giveaway! I hope it’s me! πŸ™‚

*Gasp* You’re over flakies? I could never get sick of them!

So far, I’m looking forward to the China Glaze Colors from the Capitol Collection. I haven’t read The Hunger Games books, but the colours alone are making me drool. And, of course, I want to see what OPI has in store for 2012.

Yeah, sometimes when a trend is everywhere, it gets annoying because everyone’s wearing the same thing. I can understand that. But I got tired of the crackle polishes early on. I think it’ll take a longer time for me to get sick of flakies. (Hope so!)

As for what’s on my mind…well I just now read a comment saying that China Glaze and Seche Vite are owned by the same company so that’s really really cool (But now I wanna complain about seeing SV at my pharmacies, and never seeing CG). But really, before I ramble too long, thanks for hosting the giveaway, and good luck to everybody! Not sure how you’d get my e-mail, so here it is – blishful@gmail.com. Thanks!

Hi! I’ve always wanted the seche vite polishes for their quick drying time. I currently have on my nails OPI’s Dating A Royal underneath Deborah Lippmann’s Across the Universe. I was going to use Swimsuit… Nailed it but I didn’t want my nails to get stained πŸ™

      Hey Linda!

YAY – nice layering combination! And…Across the Universe is a spectacular polish….SO BEAUTIFUL!

Oh, I found that if I double up with a good base coat underneath Swimsuit…Nailed It!, the staining isn’t bad. Then again, I wear polish every day, so I can understand if some people would want to avoid that colour if they have to expose their bare (stained) nails!

If you try out the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, it will seriously change your nail-polish life. No more waiting forever for your nails to dry, and no sheet marks.

The first time I used it, I was blown away because I could actually paint my nails at night (as usual) and then go to bed shortly after without waking up to indentations on my manicure. It doesn’t just dry your nails to the touch – it dries it rock hard reallllly fast.

*Gasp* Never tried Seche Vite? You MUST try it – it changes everything. Nubar Diamont is great (their original formula), but when they changed it, it got really watery and didn’t dry as quickly. Then they switched it back to the first formula, but some people are selling the old formula, and it’s hard for me to tell which is which. Seche has remained consistent, so I trust them.

Seche Vite changed my nail polish life forever! I use to never paint my fingers, because I have ZERO patience for the drying time… So I would, inevitable, screw up my manicure… Then I would be super pissed! Haha…

I tell everyone I can about it… seriously, they should send me free bottles I’ve sold so many for them. Heck, I just informed my neighbor last night in a drive-way chat and she is going to Sally’s Beauty to get it today!

I have naked nails right now. It’s horrible lol. I didnt have time last night to do them (and my old polish had to be taken off, ick), and I barely have time tonight (tomorrow is my Mama’s bday, so Im making Boston Cream Cupcakes tonight to take to her bar for the celebration!)… But they will get done! Somehow between baking, filling and frosting, they will get done. Even if I have to stay up until Midnight! No time for anything special though, just OPI “Diva of Geneva” on my fingers and Nicole by OPI “You + Blue” for my toes. No fancy art, but at least I wont be naked! :p

Yay! This is an awesome giveaway. My friend introduced me to Seche when I was but a mere nail polish fledgling and its been the only base and top coat I’ve used ever since. Right now, I’m wearing Revlon’s “No Shrinking Violet” topped with Cult Nail’s “Clairvoyant” (which I have you to thank for introducing into my life :D) and Sally Hansen’s “In The Spotlight”. Probably not a mani for everyone but I think it looks like a mini party on my hands! πŸ˜€

My current nail polish obsession is Cult Nails. They can do no wrong. I just purchased Power Thief, Living Waters and Iconic. Power Thief is the most beautiful hot cocoa color. No matter how great the color, no manicure is complete without a base and top coat. I’ve been wanting to try Seche Vite because it’s regarded as the best out there. I’ve tried a few by OPI, Essie and Sally Hansen, but haven’t landed on the one that gives me the lovely shine and anti-chip I’m craving. Could Seche Vite be the one?!

Actually, I don’t know, either. I’ll go through phases where I’ll grow my nails out so long (until the point where I find them annoying when I type). Then I’ll trim them down to little nubs and repeat the whole process again. Long nails are nice, but not all the time. I long for short nails sometimes, too…so I like to experience all the different lengths instead of just maintaining one length.

I’m glad that you’re resisting the urge to bite your nails. Nail polish definitely will help motivate you! πŸ™‚

Ooh, Seche Vite! I’ve read so many conflicting reviews on the top coat – you either love it or hate it. I’ve never used it before, because my biggest nail peeve is top cost shrinkage and that seems to be the number one complaint! And because it’s so expensive in our great nation, that kind of adds to my reservations. I’d still love to give it a try one day!

I have on Nicole by OPI – Snow-Man Of My Dreams. It’s 4 days strong and still perfect – really unusual for me with a glitter!

    1. Mary Post author

      Hey Cristina!

I know far more people who love it than hate it. πŸ™‚

To avoid shrinkage with this, I actually let my polish dry slightly before applying Seche Vite. Also, I always paint the free edge of my nails. I’ve found that a lot of times, this prevents most shrinkage.

Oohhh…Nicole by OPI Snow-Man of my Dreams is such a gorgeous glitter polish! You’re lucky to have gotten hold of it, as it was a limited-edition holiday colour. πŸ™‚

Hmm…if I had to choose between those two polishes for your birthday nails, I’d say to go with Kendall on the Katwalk because the glitter has more of a celebratory feel to it. It’s a lively colour that’s happy and that screams “PARTY!” to me. πŸ™‚ But even if you choose Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam, it’s a gorgeous, edgy shade. Have fun! πŸ™‚

I’ve never tried China Glaze Fast Forward before, so I can’t honestly compare them. Does it dry your nails really fast and provide a really shiny gloss?

      Reply
      1. karen

I tried China Glaze Fast Forward out of desperation when our local Sally’s couldn’t seem to get any Seche Vite in. At only $5/bottle, it seemed like a good alternative to my usual OPI with the added bonus of reducing dry time.

What a surprise it was! It dries to the touch in seconds and shines like glass. Okay, so it has this wonky fruity scent that really bugs some folks, but the smell goes away fast enough and I find it oddly comforting after a stressful day. Some folks fight stress with yoga….I fight stress by painting my nails.

As good as it is with plain polish, it really shines when smoothing out glitters. Generally speaking, when using glitter polishes, I use two ‘cheapcoats’ of clear polish (because the glitter will soak it up, anyway) and then smooth the whole shebang out with a coat of the China Glaze. Not only does it give that amazing shine, but it allows all of the coats to dry a lot faster than my OPI topcoat.

Same here – I think that painting my nails is so relaxing. It’s also a creative way to cut the stress.

Hi, first i want to say is thanks for the great contest, looking forward to many more. I would like to say that when i do give myself a French manicure, instead of using the white polish that you re supposed to use, i tend to use white-out (a.k.a liquid paper, from the bottle) as this makes the tips stand out more, dries quicker too. then i put on this nice pastel mauve polish meant for French manicures on from Yves Rocher (very pretty compared to the typical beige used for the frence manicure) and the great part about this polish is that it has a nice violet scent to it. even when it dries, it s got that violet flower scent to it, although it s not an overbearing smell, it s got a slight scent to it. In conclusion, thank you for a great contest.

Hi all!! So for the past several weeks I have been on a OPI Muppets kick! Just LOVE the glitters in that collection! This week I thought it would be timely to wear Katy Perry’s The One That Got Away. I did 2 coats of that and then 2 coats of OPI Servin Up Sparkle and my nails literally look like the Crown Jewels! Really great combo and I got tons of compliments! Next week I plan to wear OPI Alpine Snow with OPI Save Me for that wintry snowy feel. Can’t wait!!

Aww…sorry about your dented nail. Maybe you could go over that section with more polish and see if the area ‘fills in’? There are some treatments designed especially for helping reduce the appearance of dented nails. I’ve never tried any, but I think Orly has one.

You’re welcome. πŸ™‚ I’m happy to spread the nail-polish love!

Haha, don’t worry about librarians judging you. You’re so cute! I used to work at the circulation desk at a library, and they don’t judge you…unless you return a book 7 years late. This sounds ridiculous, but it actually happened! A woman brought back a book she said she found under her bed. Apparently she was moving to a new house, and that’s how she found it. Because it was 7 years late and the library system was updated more than once, somehow, it wasn’t even showing up in the library’s records, so she didn’t have to pay anything. Of course, she was incredibly embarrassed.

I have soooooo many strange (and funny) stories from my time working at the library! Too many to share now, but there are lots of weird people out there. Returning a book late by just a bit is nothing. πŸ™‚ At least you didn’t return a VHS tape filled with rice…where the rice was actually INSIDE the tape and all over the tape’s ribbon. YES, that also happened. (I have some absolutely crazy stories that aren’t even appropriate to talk about on this blog. So many weird things happen at district public libraries…hehe!)

    Hey Mary!

This is a great giveaway. It’s also great timing because my Seche Vite topcoat is almost over and my ridge filling basecoat (mine is a milky-creamy color) is just about to reach the halfway point. This month at Sally’s, you get a free bottle of China Glaze nail polish when you buy a bottle of Seche Vite.

It was the first day back at school and it was fun. I made my own nail polish strips last night and they’re dry now so I’m planning on putting them on after I type this. I found out something quite interesting yesterday, Right before I used my Colour Club crackle nail polish, I added a few drops of nail polish thinner because it was becoming to thick and I didn’t want to discard it. I rolled the bottle in my palms and when I put it on, it drie a matte charcoal. That suprised me.

On my nails right now (before I take it off o apply my nail polish strips), I am wearing OPI Fly, topped with OPI Save Me and OPI Super Bass Shatter creating a half moon mani on all my nails except my ring finger. On my ring finger, I put Sally Hansen Black Out topped with Finger Paints Motley.

      Hey maddy!

Yes, that’s great timing! πŸ™‚ Oh yeah, I also saw that offer in the Sally Beauty Supply flyer. I was tempted to buy another bottle of Seche Vite just for the China Glaze nail polish! (Silly, I know…since I have so many base and top coats as it is. Plus I actually have the HUGE refill bottle for Seche Vite. That’ll take me a loooonnngg time to finish.)

Glad that your first day back went well!

How do you make your own nail-polish strips? I’ve only seen the ones you can buy in the store. Please share! I’m curious…like a Cheshire Cat!

You just paint on about 2-3 coats of polish (whatever makes it opacque) onto a ziploc bag, then when it dries, you paint on a design (you can try making a Konadicure) or leave it plain. Let it fully dry overnight and then just peel it off and put it on your dry nail and sealing it with a topcoat or putting on a basecoat and sticking it on.

This is a link about how to make it.

      Hey Amanda!

I used to be a nail biter, myself, and really, the only way I quit was will power. I would bite my nails out of habit, and sometimes I didn’t even realize I was doing it, but I tried to become more conscious of it. So anytime my hands would go to my mouth, I’d just stop biting. It took a few weeks, and you have to be patient.

I’ve never tried this, but some people use a special kind of nail treatment that tastes bad (on purpose) so that when they go to bite their nails, the bad taste will repel them. (I think painting your nails like what you’ve been doing is much better. At least you can admire pretty colours.)
