a-england Rose Bower from the Burne-Jones Collection is the second a-england nail polish that I’ve ever worn. (You’ll remember getting a sneak peek of it not long ago, if you follow me on Instagram.)
If Dorothy Gale’s ruby slippers had magic fairy dust sprinkled on them, I imagine that they would look like this. Yes, click together 2 nails and say, “There’s no place like home!”
Especially when the sun shines on this polish, it really becomes a looker, and you’ll find it very difficult to stop gawking over it when all the colours come out to play.

a-england Rose Bower Review
Colour
Rose Bower by a-england is a rich red that has a shimmery base. It has a bit of a ‘glowy’ personality, which keeps it from looking flat and drab.
But the cool thing about it is the holo glitter. It puts a rainbow on your nails in a subtle way. Instead of being a crazy full-on linear holo, it’s actually a scattered and sparse holo with fine glitter. You can see many of the colours in the rainbow more in person and in the sunlight than in other lighting conditions.
Finish
It has both a shimmery and holo finish. The polish felt smooth and not gritty. It was also a breeze to remove – as easy to take off as a creme.
Application & Formula
Rose Bower by a-england was a cinch to apply – it was simple to control like a creme, and the formula went on smoothly and evenly. I used 2 medium coats, and I appreciated how it covered the nail line.

Final Verdict: 8/10
It takes a lot for me to love a red nail polish. I really enjoyed wearing Rose Bower because I’m a holo fiend, and also because the finish of the base itself was glowy. I loved how pigmented, too.
Which is your favourite colour in the a-england Burne-Jones Dream Collection? What was the last red nail polish you wore? Are you a fan of holo?
Edit: Yay! NailPolishCanada retweeted my blog post!
Super pretty! I may have to break my only textured nail polishes until October rule for this :).
Hey Tanya!
Haha, break your No Buy Until October rule! 😉 Just don’t blame me! Hahahahaha! I’m your happy enabler.
So pretty. A England makes my favorite red (Perceval) so I’m not afraid to try these either. I just wish she’d take a break so I can catch up!

Yes and no, I cant deside
Hey Icequeen81!
What is it that you like and dislike about it? Which weighs heavier – the pros or the cons?
love the gloss, the shade is pretty, and the application looks good.
But the silver glitter is a downside.
It would be neat if there were black glitter throughout. Just thought of it now.
Yes that would be wonderfull
Maybe an indie brand has put out something like that. It does seem like a combination they’d create. 🙂
I saw one today, dont remeber the name, butI prefer fine glitter like thse of a -england.
Yes, a-england does fine details soooo well! 🙂
Hi Mary!
I have to thank you for making me discover the a-england polish! reading your review of Sleeping Palace made me fall in love with it! So, after a detailed research on line, I decided to order some polish I thought I would like most. One of them was just Rose Bower!! And It’s stunning, as you described! I also bought Sleeeping Palace, that is a very complex shade for me, difficult to decribe, but totally mesmerizing, and Tristam (royal navy/denim holo blue) and Saint George (the absolutely best teal/green sparkling and slightly holographic I’ve ever seen). The quality and the beauty of these polish are higher than I expexted looking at them on my computer screen!
I would give a try to Fated Prince too, from this collection and, above all, to the upcoming fifth hue, called Briarwood (a deep burgundy/red base filled with tons on subtle multichromatic shimmers) but now I’ have to wait a little.
Bye!
Hey Floria!
Oh, it’s my pleasure! I’m glad that I was able to introduce you to a-england. Their polishes deserve all the hype you hear about them! 🙂
I must get St. George eventually. That’s the one that makes me drool every single time I’ve seen it online. Plus being a greeeen fieeend also adds to it. 😉
