Urban Outfitters Green Holo Swatches & Review

Urban Outfitters Green Holo Swatches & ReviewIf you’re a fan of holographic nail polish (who isn’t?), you’ll totally flip overย Urban Outfitters Green Holo!

I’m the proud owner of this ridiculously amazing nail polish because my friend, Carmela from Polished Indulgence, surprised me with it as part of a Christmas present! (Thank youuuu!)

You get the entire rainbow in a bottle, and what I especially appreciate is that it translates onto the nail beautifully.

This is a must-have polish, but then again, all strong holographic polishes are must-haves to me! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Urban Outfitters Green Holoย Review

Colour

Green Holo by Urban Outfitters is more of a light seafoam green rather than a darker green holo like Nubar Reclaim.

A lot of the time, it seemed to verge on looking more blue than green, but that’s okay. I can forgive that because the holographic effect is what I’d call a Hercules Holo because it’s stroooonnnnng! Yeah, flex those polish biceps, babyyy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But, as you can see in the bazillion photos above, you’ll notice there’s the entire rainbow winking at you. There’s red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and I think I saw a bit of purple sometimes.

This is a spectacular nail polish that’s very memorable. It’s a great celebratory polish that’s very flashy. You’ll surely attract a lot of attention when wearing this. ๐Ÿ™‚

Finish

The holographic finish is absolutely stunning. It’s a linear holo, too. This means the rainbow forms lines rather than being scattered like pixels. I love both types, but the strong linear ones are often harder to find.

Application & Formula

This is how holographic polishes should be like. The consistency is on the thin side, but it’s easy to control, highly pigmented, and it creates a finish that looks flawless.

Some people say that you shouldn’t apply a top coat because it dulls the holo effect, but I wore my usual fast-drying top coat, and I didn’t notice any difference with or without. However, I used it because I wanted to seal everything in and ensure better manicure mileage. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pros

  • Strong linear holo
  • Can be worn with a top coat without ruining the holo effect
  • Smooth, perfect formula
Cons

  • Is there a Con when it comes to a strong linear holo? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Final Verdict: 10/10

This is a mind-blowing nail polish! It’s one of the strongest linear holo polishes I own, so it really impressed me. I’m really thankful that this one’s in my collection, and now I may just have to hunt down the other colours, too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s your favourite linear holo polish? Do you have any other lacquers from Urban Outfitters?

      Hey Melissa!

Hahah, it certainly is. And it’s interesting how Urban Outfitters of all places put out such strong linear holos! You’d think that polish companies would be on it faster, especially since a lot of us nailphiles have openly expressed our desire for more holos.

      Hey Brianna!

I’ve seen some swatches of other holos in this line – silver and pink. Those also look equally drool-worthy. I may have to hunt those down!

It’s sweet that your cats gave you a token of their appreciation. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haha! Now when I visit my mom’s cat, I’ll see what he gave her for Christmas. (Nothing) Hehehe!

MEIN EYES LOOK AT DEM REIGN BOWZ!

Might be time to dust off my Urban Outfitters account and get this. I can barely make out the green but I do see it.

I regret never buying all of the Layla Holo Effects when I had the chance. I only have Mercury Twilight, which I love so much. My first foray into holographic polishes. Someone got me a GOSH holo that was somehow even brighter than Mercury Twilight.

At this rate, I’m going to get into an accident because I’m waving my hand around and staring at holo polishes while I drive.

      Hey Tennyoceres!

Hahahaha, your first sentence made me laugh! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yeah, the green is subtle in this – like seafoam. Maybe Urban Outfitters will make a St. Patrick’s Day green holo in March! We can only hope! ๐Ÿ˜€

I don’t have ANY of the Layla polishes, but every photo of them I see, I fall in love. It’s dangerous ‘just browsing’ blogs sometimes, isn’t it?

My friend was just raving to me about this color recently! She said driving with it is dangerous, because your nails are so distracting ๐Ÿ˜€

I have one collection of holos (the Pupa ones- have you heard of that brand? They’re Italian), but I’m stingy with how often I use them, since they’re mini sized and my job makes polish wear off in a day XD but I love holo too! Although I wish there was a *true* green holo out there somewhere, like a crayon green. So far I’ve yet to find one.

      Hey Fedoraharp!

Haha, seems like a lot of people are finding these holos very, verrrry distracting, indeed! I was in an elevator while wearing this manicure, and I nearly forgot to get out when the door opened for my floor because I was looking at my nails. (The lighting in the elevator was really bright, so it made the holo look even stronger…Haha, I’m a little tempted to take photos inside that elevator because it’s even better lighting than in my home!)

The greenest holo I have is Nubar Reclaim. Do you have that one? You’d love it!

I had a look at swatches, it’s really close! Still a little too teal to be perfect, but I might try and grab it ๐Ÿ™‚ Although I found this one online recently, and I think it might be The One http://ommorphiabeautybar.com/2012/12/20/cirque-colors-objet-dart-collection-a-bonus/cirque-lonesome-george-swatch/ (image credit and polish name are in the URL): Cirque is expensive, but I may start putting money aside for it.

Hope you were able to put your eyes back together and back into their sockets to read the rest of the post. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hehehe! Urban Outfitters knocked it out of the park…and by that, I mean nailphiles’ eyeballs! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hope you can find some. They’re definitely must-have holos!

Somehow I only knew about these holos after everyone else did. *Tsk tsk* Bad nailphile! *Hangs head* And then my sweet friend surprised me with this for Christmas! I was over the moon to have even one of the amazing holos in this collection. I’ll surely cherish it!

Oh, I didn’t even know they’re available online. I didn’t check. I’ll have to take a look and see if they can ship to me in Canada then!

This is so pretty words can’t describe it! I have been looking for this but can’t find any when I go to Urban Outfitters! Is this only in the US because I can’t find it in Canada.

      Hey maddy!

You know, I’ve never shopped at Urban Outfitters really. This was a Christmas present from my friend who is also Canadian. However, she travelled to the States before, so maybe she picked it up. If you want, I can ask her if she found it in a Canadian or US store. Let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just FYI, I ordered 2 bottles from the UrbanOutfitters website yesterday. They had 2 colors; silver and the other didn’t say what color, but it looked like the one you reviewed.

Great photos! Out of the shades this comes in, this is the one I would buy if we had an UO store – but I won’t spend the $ to have it shipped if it is sold on line. I have now sooo many holos in this more pastel/soft range hues that I am trying not to buy more – I own all the OMG, Kaleidoscopes, Tronica from China Glaze. I also have all the pastels holos from Nfu-Oh (61-66), and then I got all the Color Club Halo Holos too this last fall. But gosh, that said…I sure would like to own this one – it’s not too teal which I like. For some reason I don’t look good in teal polish unless it’s a cream finish – the aqua leaning teals in non cream are super hard for me to pull up and I never can figure out why – teal/turq /aqua is supposed to be a universal shade – and I can wear it for clothing but other than cream it looks horrible on my nails..Maybe I will look on line and see if I can find this one shade and treat myself…I have major surgery end of this month and then 6 weeks of chemo starting again and I will be a long way away from home all that time…I need to have some treats with me or I get really depressed. It’s hard to go through this kind of medical stuff, but being all alone and far from home makes it even harder…those 4 walls of the outpatient studio I get put into grow into a cell pretty fast. I am surrounded by a nice city with lots of shopping but either I am too sick or not really able to be around folks because my white cells get too low and I cannot fight off normal little bugs – so I don’t usually get to go out other than back and forth to the clinic area of the hospital and they always have us wearing masks. This would be a nice treat to get and enjoy and even share doing a few folks nails who are around me when we all are sitting there doing our chemo

      Hey beachgal!

What you’re going through sounds like a lot! Stay strong! I hope that your surgery goes well and that you make a speedy recovery. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and send out positive, healthy vibes your way. (I wish I could hug you.)

It’s very nice that polish can bring you some comfort, even if it’s only a little. It still makes a difference.

Thank you – this was a very photogenic polish. Hehe, and it loved my camera’s flash. I admit to taking even more photos than usual just because it was fun to see the rainbows appear. Then, as usual, I whittled it down for a post.

I asked my friend who gave this to me for Christmas, and she bought it in the store. Although, I heard from some of my other readers that they found it on the Urban Outfitters website.

Yay for having so many holos! ๐Ÿ™‚ I need to dust more of mine off so that I can really enjoy them.

    That’s a very beautiful polish!
I also love holographic polishes (duochromes are great, too.. have you seen the australian “ozotic”s? or the “hits mari moon”? they’re amazing … )

I’m not quite sure which my first holographic polishes were, but I think China Glaze OMG collection. Unfortunately I don’t own all of them and they got discontinued before I realized that ๐Ÿ™
I also got some of the kaleidoscopes from ebay, and I own some Nfu.OHs, though I must say, the older ones are waaayyy more holographic than the newer ones.
I wrote to their customer service and they told me twice that I should just give them a good shake – for 10 (ten!!) minutes!
One time I actually did this, but it didn’t improve the holo-goodness in any way … they just looked bland. I was very disappointed. But the old Nfu.Oh Polish I have is amazing. I’d say it’s even more holo than your Urban Outfitters one.

I have none of the Layla-polishes but I’ve heard people raving about them, so they must be good ๐Ÿ˜‰

The China Glaze Tronica Collection disappointed me and also the CG Prismatics .. but they promised us new holos this spring, so I’m very excited for these.

The Color Club Halo collection is amazing. I got all of these (I learned from the China Glaze OMG experience, lol) and I absolutely love them. The bottles are sturdy, the brush is great and the colors are amazing, even in dull rainy daylight without sun or electric light, they show the linear rainbow.
    I think I need back-ups ^^

There is a brand called GOSH who also have a holo polish (silver-holo) and I think they’re going to re-release that one. I think it’s a British brand, so I don’t know about availability.

And the Brazilians have a line called Sancion angel who also sold holographic polishes, even in dark red, olive green, deep purple and other unusual holo-colors (you can just google sancion angel nail polish and you will see a bunch of them), but I’m pretty sure that there was a scandal … allegedly they sent a couple of great holo polishes to the blogger-community, everyone raved about them, they were really holo and in unusual colors, and when ordering started, they changed the formula, so the holo-goodness was diluted and almost gone.

The Danish brand “FNUG” has at least 3 very pretty very linear holo nail polishes in silver, light blue and light green.

After looking at many many many swatches ^^ I’d say the best, most intense and most linear, most rainbow-y nail polishes around at the moment are the old version of the Nfu.Oh polishes and the Laylas, followed by the Color Club Halo Hues.
If the shipping wouldn’t kill me, I’d certainly get a bunch of Laylas. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Hey Caitlyn!

YES – I’ve been drooling over the Ozotics and Hits polishes for a very long time, but I don’t own a single one. All the photos I’ve seen of them online are incredible! I need to save up some money for those.

Hahaha, they told you to shake the polish for 10 minutes? AHAHHAHAHAHA! Who does that? ๐Ÿ˜› Haha, did you break out in a sweat afterwards? Was it like exercise? The person probably meant to say 1 minute (at least I hope so!)…hehe! Really funny!

You know what? I don’t have any of the Color Club Halo polishes, but that’s only because I’m trying to save some money. They look incredible, and I hope that I don’t regret my decision to hold off on buying them.

Wow, I didn’t even hear about the Sancion Angel scandal. That’s really despicable that someone would do that. I hope it wasn’t intentional. Maybe the ingredient was no longer available, so they were forced to change. But they still should have informed their customers of the change.

Don’t have any of the Urban Outfitter holos, but I do have the recently released (last November?) Color Club Holo Hues. Their Angel Kiss is like this, but not as strong a linear.

    Just lovely these pix are!!!!

Awesome! I don’t have any of the Color Club Holo Hues, but from all the photos I’ve seen of them online, they are breathtaking! (Money’s tight for me right now, but hopefully they’ll be around still after I’ve saved up more. *Crosses fingers*)

Glad you liked my photos! ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a joy to photograph this polish – it was very photogenic. No coaxing required. ๐Ÿ˜‰
