Nicole by OPI Mi Fantasia Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Love Song)

Nicole-by-OPI-Mi-Fantasia-Swatches-ReviewI’m on a roll like melted butter.

Today is the 11th nail polish from the Selena Gomez 2013 Collection I’ve reviewed! (There are 14 in total.)

This time it’s Nicole by OPI Mi Fantasia.

It was one of the shades I was most anxious about trying because it’s a bar-glitter lacquer!

Seems like a lot of people are in divided camps on this finish.

I really love the idea of bar glitter despite being disappointed by ones like OPI Save Me and China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. (I think I like this one more because the bar glitter is shorter, and therefore easier to manipulate on your nails.)

Just like my philosophy about people, I believe that you can’t give up on nail polish. 😉

Despite the rotten eggs out there, there are real gems, too. It’s our responsibility to keep our eyes peeled like bananas to seek out the good.

Mi Fantasia was a good egg.

Nicole by OPI Confetti Fun Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Scarlett)

Nicole-by-OPI-Confetti-Fun-Swatches-ReviewYup, I have another shade from the Selena Gomez Collection coming out in January 2013!

This time, it’s Nicole by OPI Confetti Fun, which definitely lives up to its name. It has a rainbow of glitter that makes you look like a clown who broke into the arts and crafts store and didn’t clean up afterwards. 😉

Nicole by OPI Confetti Fun is what I’d like to describe as OPI Rainbow Connection 2.0. It totally gives me the same vibe, but it’s not a dupe. Read my review to see exactly what I mean.

Plus I’ll also show you swatches of it solo (and not layered over Scarlett like I did here) as well as over two other colours.

Nicole by OPI Scarlett Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Scarlett-Swatches-ReviewWhile wearing Nicole by OPI Scarlett from the Selena Gomez Collection coming to stores in January 2013, I couldn’t help but think of Katniss from The Hunger Games.

In the same vein that Katniss is The Girl on Fire, this red nail polish comes to life and gives you a manicure that’s on fire!

However, I don’t think I did it justice. Mother Nature didn’t cooperate, so all the days I wore this, I was only able to take photos with my camera’s flash and in dim light.

Nicole by OPI Naturally Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Naturally-Swatches-ReviewNicole by OPI Naturally is from the Selena Gomez Collection that comes out in January 2013.

If you’re into super girly nail polish, Naturally will be right up your alley. It’s soft and sweet. It makes me think of My Little Pony and the Care Bears.

Remember all those cool cartoons from the 1980s? Children’s cartoons these days just don’t seem to have the same magic as they did back then.

And do you remember She-Ra, the Princess of Power? She’s He-Man’s twin sister.

When I was in elementary school, I went as her for Hallowe’en. I remember shopping for the costume with my dad.

Money was extremely tight, so when I was a kid, I hardly ever got the opportunity to wear a store-bought costume. (Sure, I liked making my own costume, but when you’re a kid, it seemed like a big deal to be able to wear something that was already put-together.)

My dad made a huge sacrifice and bought me the store-made She-Ra costume. It was very simple (not deluxe), but it made me extremely happy to have this rare treat, and I appreciated it immensely.

I still have that costume carefully hung up in the closet at my mom’s place. And whenever I look at it, I smile as I think about some great childhood memories.

Nicole by OPI Love Song Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Love-Song-Swatches-ReviewNicole by OPI Love Song from the Selena Gomez Collection coming out in January 2013 is a simple, pretty purple. But when I thought about its name (and of love in general), I began thinking about a lot more than just a pop song on the radio.

Love is probably the most overrated and simultaneously underrated thing in the world. It can make or break you and drive you crazy or ground you in reality. People die for it, but people feel alive because of it.

I’ve had my heart broken pretty badly many times when I was too quick to open up and trust people, but I’ve also done my share of breaking hearts. (No halo here, unless it’s from an old Hallowe’en costume!)

Through all my experiences, what I’ve realized is that unconditional love is the hardest gift to come by. So when you find people who accept you (but who still encourage you to constantly improve yourself), you’ve struck gold.

And on your quest for finding true love, I think you need to learn how to love yourself – your quirks, your flaws, and your strengths. Then, if you’re blessed to find that Special Somebody, you can bring something more interesting to the table and have your own identity instead of being just ‘half of a couple’.

What do you think?

Nicole by OPI Kissed At Midnight Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Pretty in Plum)

Nicole-by-OPI-Kissed-at-Midnight-Swatches-ReviewThis is what one coat of Nicole by OPI Kissed At Midnight looks like over two coats of Nicole by OPI Pretty in Plum!

Both polishes are from the Selena Gomez Collection that’ll be in stores January 2013.

Although I liked wearing Pretty in Plum solo, I loooooved this combination way more. I think it adds just enough bling, and the bling contrasts enough so it stands out instead of getting lost in the base colour.

What would you layer under this gold glitter?

Nicole by OPI Pretty in Plum Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Pretty-in-Plum-Swatches-ReviewNicole by OPI Pretty in Plum is yet another shade I have to show you from the upcoming Selena Gomez Collection due out in January 2013.

It may be because I’ve watched West Side Story so many times, but when I first read the name, a mental image of Maria (played by Natalie Wood) dancing around the sewing room and singing “I Feel Pretty” immediately sprung to mind.

Indeed, Natalie Wood was so gorgeous. And…confession time! Although that musical came out waaaaay before my time, when my father introduced me to the movie when I was a kid, I had the biggest crush on Richard Beymer (who played Tony, Maria’s love interest). It was after their duet, Tonight, that I swooned. Think hearts instead of pupils. I used to imagine that he was singing “Mary” instead of “Maria” in this song where he expresses his love for her.) 😉

Hahaha, and I always thought it was hilarious that the gang members (the Jets and the Sharks) danced ballet! Don’t think I would ever be intimidated by any gang who can pirouette and have an entire dance choreography that they perform on the street. (And, for the record, I thought the Sharks were hotter than the Jets.)

Ooohhh, and who can forget the hilarious Officer Krupke number? That song still cracks me up today!

Okay, but back to the nail polish, right?
