Nicole by OPI Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam Swatches & Review

Nicole by OPI Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam Swatches & ReviewOkay, Khloe Kardashian is trying to steal my thunder. We all know that it’s Mary who had a little lamb, right?

I should know. Everywhere that I went, my lamb went. My lamb even followed me to school one day, which was against the rules. But it made the children laugh and play to see a lamb at school. 😛

Okay, fine…Khloe can have a little ‘lam-lam’ if she leaves my lamb alone.

I tried to capture Nicole by OPI Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam the best I could, but Mr. Sun wasn’t cooperating and actually stood me up. How rude!

The colour isn’t complex, but my camera made it look a lot lighter than it really is. In person, it’s one of those near-black teals (at least it was on me), and the colour on your nails is darker than what you see in the bottle.

Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love Swatches & Review

Sunlight Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love Swatches & ReviewBy now you’ve probably heard all about Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ divorce.

Whenever I hear about a divorce, I always feel sad, even if the split is for the best. I guess it’s because I have a fairytale perception of marriage being a one-time and lasting, loving bond, even though in reality, the divorce rates are alarmingly high.

My nails were stained a bright magenta, so when I decided to wear Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love, unfortunately it made the manicure look shoddy and like I have bloody cuticles!

Still, I’m sharing these swatches with you anyway because if you can look past the stained nails peeking through, you’ll still be able to see what Kim-pletely in Love looks like.

A woman (who worked at the candy shop I bought a few things from) actually complimented me on this colour!

You know that I’m not really a pink-polish wearer. It’s not necessarily because I don’t like the colour. It’s because most pinks make my nails look dirty or they’re too close to the colour of my skin.

OPI Rainbow Connection Dupes, Comparison Swatches & Brush Reviews

OPI Rainbow Connection Dupes Comparison Swatches Milani Gems Swatch & Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S-Kylie SwatchIt feels like a long time ago when I swatched and reviewed OPI Rainbow Connection from The Muppets Collection even though it was just in September.

You’ll remember it as the multicoloured glitterbomb with 3 different sizes of hexagonal glitter.

Since then, I have acquired 2 other nail polishes that are quite similar.

One of them is a dead-on dupe. And if you’re not interested in paying OPI prices, you’ll want to check this out because one of the polishes I compare rings in at just $3.99 USD online!

I whipped up a post for those who are a fan of the glittertastic look of OPI Rainbow Connection, but who want to see how it stacks up to the alternatives. Thought this would make for a nice little shopping-tip post.

The nail polishes featured in this OPI Rainbow Connection Dupes post are: OPI Rainbow Connection (of course), Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S-Kylie, and Milani Gems.

I’ve compared all 3 in relation to their appearance, brush, accessibility, and price. Hopefully this will help you decide which one is a better fit for you. Or, maybe you’ll decide that you no longer like any of them, and you’ll keep your hard-earned cash in your wallet.

Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk Swatches & Review

Sunlight Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk Nail PolishBy now a lot of you have seen many of the shades from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection. They’ve already popped up in some stores last month.

I’ve worn a few colours from the collection, and my favourite hands down is Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk!

When I saw the promo pictures of it, I thought that it would be really similar to China Glaze Skyscraper. Nope – it’s completely unique!

Kendall on the Katwalk is a blue-green-purple glitter polish!

It sparkles like a diva upping the ante. This truly is one that you need to see in person to understand how special it is.

My photos don’t do it any justice. For some reason, my camera mainly picked up just the blue. This is not a flat, run-of-the-mill glitter polish! In person, you can see the purple and green glitter a lot. It’s like wearing a galaxy on your nails!

Press Release & Promo Pics: Nicole by OPI Holiday Glitters Collection 2011

Nicole by OPI Holiday Glitters Collection 2011Just found out recently that there’s a new Nicole by OPI Holiday Glitters Collection coming out in November.

It consists of 4 glitter polishes: purple, blue, red, and gold. And they are limited-edition colours.

I didn’t receive a display picture for this collection, so I just quickly whipped one up myself to dress up this post’s intro.

If you’re interested in reading the official press release and the description of each colour, as well as seeing the bottle pictures, I’ve included them, too.

Are there any that are calling your name?  Continue reading

Nail Art Tutorial: Frankenstein’s Monster Nails

Frankenstein Nail Art Tutorial Hallowe'en Nail Art Tutorial Frankenstein Monster NailsToday I am really excited to show you some more Hallowe’en nail art: Frankenstein’s Monster Nails!

I wore them for 4 days straight. Unfortunately, during that time, the sun only came out once, but I was busy and couldn’t take photos, so I only have flash and natural-light photos to show you. Hope you don’t mind!

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is my favourite novel of all time. I love the author’s way of writing in such a descriptive and flowery way – it helps me visualize everything like I’m watching a movie.

Back in 1818, people sure knew how to craft sentences and make them sound so poetic. And I admire how they flossed an impressive vocabulary!

If you haven’t read the original text, I highly recommend you do. It’s so much more than just the Hallowe’en character that a lot of people have identified it with.

The first time I read Frankenstein was in university for a humanities class. It was the biggest surprise. I thought it was going to be boring and cliche. It wasn’t! And I had trouble putting the book down. I literally read it in 2 days…on the bus, the subway, in my bed… (Sigh, I so need to re-read it.)

There’s deep philosophy and a myriad of allusions to other famous literature.

I really empathized with the monster more than with Frankenstein. The nameless monster was actually really intelligent and even taught himself how to read! He desperately wanted to be loved and to feel a sense of belonging, especially after he was harshly denied all ties to the only familial bond he knew. I could understand why he ended up lashing out.

Press Release & Promo Pics: Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection

Swatch And Learn Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection Press Release & Promo PicturesOne of my guilty pleasures is watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I haven’t seen every single episode, but when I catch it on TV, I usually watch it. And, for some reason, I’m often painting my nails when it’s on. Shocking, I know. 😛

So when I heard about the upcoming Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection, curiosity got the best of me.

Thankfully I am not a cat or I would’ve been killed, apparently. (I never thought the saying was fair. Why must the cat die just because it was curious? Poor thing!)

Since I don’t have a picture of the nail-polish display, I had some fun and put together that graphic really quickly. It shows 3 of the colours that I’m most excited to wear.

See the rest of this post for the official press release including the promo pictures for all 14 nail lacquers in this collection! At the end, I’ll also weigh in and tell you my first impressions. Continue reading
