Smorgasbord Sundays: I Love Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

Dexflex Claire Scrunch FlatsMy dad used to say that I have “Cinderella Feet” because they’re a size 5, and my pedal pushers are on the narrow side.

When I was a baby, apparently I used to kick my shoes and socks off, much to the frustration of my parents, who kept trying to put the cute shoes on my feet.

The funny thing is now that I’m an adult, it’s a challenge for me to get shoes toΒ stay on!Β πŸ˜‰

Finding running shoes and boots are no problem, but when it comes to dress shoes, it can make me feel like Ethan Hunt, and it’s Mission: Impossible!

So imagine my delight and great surprise when, on a whim, I decided to try on some ballet flats from Payless Shoes, and they fit like a dream!

Since my first pair ofΒ Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats, I’ve purchased several. And, thanks to the help of one of my readers (Frosso from Lacquer Me Silly), I managed to get plenty of back-ups of ones that, at the time, were trickier to find here in Canada because of limited quantities.

Payless Shoes has a website, but they don’t ship to Canada. It’s such a bummer because I seriously would be buying a lot more of these shoes if I had an online-shopping option.

Instead, I have to hunt down several different Payless Shoes store locations, and since my feet are women’s size 5, my section has slim pickings. That means if I find the Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats, I need to buy them then and there, or I’ll miss out. (Looking over at the size 7 section, it’s stocked with several shoes in a given style. Lucky ducky!)

In this post, I’ll show you all the Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats I have. I’ve been loving them so much because there are different designs and colours, plus they look good with dresses, pencil skirts, and even jeans – very versatile! They can look dressy or casual, depending on the style you choose and what you wear them with.

But the biggest plus for me is that my feet can fit into these shoes perfectly, they have a flexible and padded insole that’s very comfortable to wear all day, and the price is inexpensive. (They run $36.99 CAD, but you can often get them on sale for $29.99/$24.99 CAD. Plus they go for even less when you take advantage of their bogo sales.)

If you have tiny and narrow feet like me, give these a go. (Heck, even if you have wide feet, try them because they also have a wide width available.)

Out of all the styles, my most-worn pair is the standard black because it matches so many things, and it’s a no-brainer.

I find that the ones that scrunch the most (i.e. curl upwards) and have a ‘leather’ look are the ones that feel the most comfortable on my feet and are more durable because they don’t get as dirty as fabric ones that attract dirt. (Just a tip when you go shopping – look for those ones!)

Enough talk – onto the shoes! πŸ˜‰

Dexflex Flats from Payless Shoes Collection

Black Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

This is my most-worn pair, and I have back-ups of it!

Deflex Payless Shoes

I just purchased these on Saturday, so I haven’t worn them yet. I was attracted to the bold colour contrast and the classy chain across the top.

Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats White & Black

These white ones are really cute because of the perforations and the racer stripe detailing.

Floral Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

This one’s fun for the summer, and it jazzes up a solid outfit that can use some colour and prints.

Herringbone Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

These herringbone ones are another favourite of mine because the fabric is soft, and the detailing adds something special to an outfit. I find it easy to wear these instead of plain black shoes. I have back-ups of this.

Leopard Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

While these look really fun (and they ARE!), these are my least comfortable Dexflex ones. It’s only because they don’t scrunch up as much as the others, so it doesn’t grab onto my narrow, tiny feet as well. I have back-ups of this only because it’s quite rare to find shoes in my size that have an animal print I love.

Nude Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

When I’m wearing white or pastel clothes, I love busting out these ones because they aren’t ‘heavy-looking’ like black. I’ve got back-ups of this one.

Tweed Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats

I just bought these on Saturday! They have a tweed-like material, and I love the pattern. It’s a classic, and again, it’s as easy to wear these as plain black ones. But, you add a fun and fashionable twist with these.

So, those are all the styles of Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats that I own! Every time a new style comes out, I jump on it.

I’ve seen the navy-blue ones, but passed because I prefer black. And on the internet, I’ve seen some people with bright red ones. Oooh, I wish they’d come back because I’d love to own red shoes! πŸ™‚

Have you tried the Dexflex Claire Scrunch Flats? What are your favourite shoes? Do you have any recommendations for places to shop for people like me with tiny, narrow feet?

OMG I love the perforated white ones! I am heading to a Payless ASAP to see if they are in store πŸ˜€

I also have size 5 feet!! And it is the most frustrating thing to shop for shoes! Although if I were a regular size feet I would probably be very poor lol. Whenever shoes fit, I just buy them. The good thing is they’re usually on sale! if the company manufactures size 5 in the first place that is haha

I find Guess makes the best high heels because they usually include a platform. I have a pair of 4.5 inch booties that are ridiculously comfortable. I’ve also had good finds at Nine West. I only recently discovered Rudsak flats, the leather ones that have an elastic scrunchy look. They are on the pricey side but once I tried on a pair I did not want to take them off!!

Update: I just came back from shopping and I got the tan/black ones with the chain. Thanks for this post! I never would have thought of going to Payless. Made my day πŸ™‚

MC! Thanks for the update on your shopping success! I’m so happy that not only you were able to find the elegant chain ones, but that you’re thrilled with your purchase. Wear them well! ENJOY!

Also, if you come across finds for size-5 feet, please let me know. I’m continually hunting for more!

      Yay for a fellow Size-5-er Cinderella-Feet-er! πŸ˜‰

Haha, I know what you mean. If I had ‘average-sized’ feet, I’d have too many shoes than I’d know what to do with. Instead of shoes, I collect more nail polishes – after all, you don’t have to worry about nail-polish ‘sizes’. πŸ˜‰

Hi Mary! *waves* Those are some adorable cap toe flats! I’ve been looking for a good pair but almost always find that the comfy ones are just way too expensive (I’ve recently come to the realization that while fashionable shoes look amazing on, I’ve learned to value comfort over looks…but both is always best!). I must look into these! Hope they have some in my size..those chain ones are right up my alley. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the head’s up!

Hi! *Waves* How are you doing? πŸ™‚

I agree with you – balancing the whole see-saw of style, comfort, and price can be tricky. I feel like these Dexflex flats win on all accounts, which is quite rare!

Be careful – haha, these shoes easy to become obsessed over, and the fact that they keep coming out with different colours and styles may make you want to collect them all! πŸ˜‰

Why have I never heard of these?! πŸ™‚ Thank you for the post. They remind me of the scrunchy Gap City flats I own, but Gap hasn’t made in awhile. πŸ™ (I was stalking eBay for one’s in my size). I pretty much live in those, so I will have to check out Payless’ version. πŸ™‚ I’m a size 6, so I understand shoes not fitting right all the time!

      Hey Sarah Lynn!

I haven’t tried the Gap City flats, but from the sounds of it, they are comparable to these Dexflex ones. I hope that you’ll love them as much as I do. Really, everyone I know who has tried them LOVES them! Oh, and you should be able to find plenty in size 6. They often stock multiples of each style for that size. πŸ™‚

After reading your post, I had to go out and get some! I really was hoping I would find a cheetah pair, but I settled for the black and nude ones. Testing them out today and so far so good. I’ll feature a post on these as well. Love your collection and I may have to check out some other Payless stores to see if I can snag the cheetah ones. πŸ˜‰

These shoes look great! I will check them out. I am lucky and I have average sized feet, but both of my sisters have the opposite problem from you – they have really big feet, I.e. 10 and 11. So they definitely struggle to find shoes.

I feel for your sisters! Having feet on either side of the size spectrum can be tough. We have to spend more energy trying to find stuff that fits!

Hehe, but because you have average-sized feet, do you find that you buy a LOT of shoes? I think if I had average-sized feet, I’d be shoe obsessed and would collect them like I do nail polishes! πŸ˜‰

You should definitely try these then because the ‘scrunch’ design literally grips onto your feet and will help the shoe stay on.

Ahh I’m on the other side of problems with shoes I’m anywhere from 9-10.5 some stores I’m one others in the middle solo hard to find shoes that fit without killing my poor huge feet πŸ™‚ but one thing that I need is extra cushioning and thicker soles because I walk a lot and spend a lot of time on my feet .so even though these shoes are super cute they don’t work for me . I’m lucky to be able to wear all black keds at work so I have a ton of those πŸ™‚ and supper colorful shoes for walking comfortable …love colder weather cause I can wear supper awesome ankle boots… I have sooooo many of those

Hope the style in your size turns up! You should ask the sales associate to look into the system to see if any of the stores in your area carry them. Then you can just place a hold at the store and pick them up!

I had a pair of navy scrunch flat from Payless – they were about the only flat I’ve owned that didn’t give me blisters anywhere, but they didn’t really have much in terms of support and they only lasted a season. Oh well.

      Hey Kate!

Yeah, for the inexpensive price, I can see how if you wear them a lot, they’d only last a single season. Too bad they didn’t come out with one that’s all-leather, so it’s more rugged.

Payless is a great place for affordable options! My co-worker seems to get a lot of comfortable flats from Naturalizer. (I’ve never tried any of their shoes, but based on the styles, they look like many of them are built on practicality.)

Ahh, I totally get that! I have very defined arches, and although I definitely prefer shoes with cushioning and arch support, I find that I can still wear these flats because the cushioning is better than a lot of other flats I’ve tried. It surprised me!
