Lately I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really had time to cook. My weekdays are hectic. After work, I have a full plate of things to do, and my weekends are packed with social activities.
In the past 2 weeks, I haven’t had much alone time (other than when I’m working on Swatch And Learn), but I actually am enjoying this super-busy schedule.
Unfortunately, because I haven’t been able to cook, I’ve resorted to buying takeout food a lot.
Normally I crave Indian or Italian food, but recently I’ve had huge food cravings for sushi and dim sum!
Haha, so for today’s Smorgasbord Sundays post, I’m just going to show you some of the things that I’ve been wolfing down.
What have you been craving lately?
These were some complimentary chicken spring rolls that came with my order. I’m not sure exactly what kind of sauce it was, but it was sweet and somewhat plummy.
Har gow (shrimp dumplings) are one of my favourite dim sum dishes. I like to eat them with a little bit of hot sauce. (I got 2 orders of this, and I ate all 8 in less than a minute. *Oink oink*)
They call this a dragon roll. It has avocado, shrimp, and fish eggs. I’m not big on fish eggs. Just the thought of them makes me feel nasty…but I ate them. They don’t taste gross, but psychologically, I don’t like eating them.
This reminds me that I need to roll my own sushi sometime. I used to do it all the time (it’s very easy), but these days, it seems like I’m racing against the clock!
This is a spring-rolls platter featuring chicken spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls, a light one with veggies, and a mango salad. I love the mango salads because I rarely have them. They’re so fresh! Haha, but because of the onions, you really need to chew some gum or brush your teeth afterwards! Phew!
Anyway, so those were just a few things I ate. I also had some miso soup, but didn’t photograph it because it didn’t look pretty. 😉
And, just in case you’re wondering, I ate all of this for 2 meals. Mmm! So good, especially when you have a hankering for it.
What food have you been craving lately? What’s the last thing you cooked?
Makin me hungry!
Hey Whitney!
Hehehe…*Hands you some har gows* I wish there was some way we could share food over the internet. That would be awesome.
Oooooh – I love dim sum and spring rolls! What places do you usually get your takeout from? There’s this dim sum place in the North end of Toronto that I love – but it’s in a little mall and I forgot the name – Dim Sum and Bakery? Something like that.

Hey Margo!
For spring rolls and dim sum, the most convenient places that I’ve found here are Spring Rolls and Furama. I always try to keep my eyes open for new-to-me dim sum places, but my area doesn’t really have much. However, I have easy access to Indian, Middle Eastern, French, and Italian food here, so it’s all good. 🙂
I smell a foodie blogger 😉 I love that you are always talking about food haha.

Hey Frosso!
It’s funny that you say that! 😀 Last year, my friend and I considered starting a blog all about reviewing poutine we’ve eaten and ‘poutineries’ we’ve ate at. There’s nothing quite like good ole comfort food, especially on rainy nights for some reason.
Yum yum!
I try to cook at home and soup is my fave to do 🙂 apparently I’m pretty good at soup cooking because my sister always takes some home AND all three of my kids enjoy a bowl-full.
I am craving hamburgers off the BBQ because they remind me of hot summer evenings 🙂

Hey Marta!
Oh, you must share one of your best soup recipes with me. Although I’ve made my own sushi, lasagna, chili, shepherd’s pie, etc., I haven’t dabbled in soups much. The only soup I’ve ever made was a butternut squash one, but it was ridiculously simple (and surprisingly ridiculously delicious). Wish I kept the recipe somewhere.
Mmm…it’ll be BBQ season before we know it! 🙂 Can’t wait to have a potluck party here with a bunch of my friends and some drinks. That’s what the best memories are made of.
I went to a pet expo today and they had all the disgustingly delicious fair food that you should never eat if you want to live past 40. I had to try really hard not to over indulge. I’d like to tell myself that I at least burned some calories by walking around all day and petting animals. haha

Hey lacquerloon!
Cool – I’ve never been to any pet expos. Hope you had a lot of fun! I remember seeing a Super Dogs competition at the CNE several years ago. Really cute!
It’s definitely hard not to overindulge, especially when you spend several hours or even a day there. 🙂
After 4 days of nothing but Tex-Mex, it was nice to come home to Asian cuisine. Last weekend, we indulged in some good old fashioned Chinese (Hainan Chicken is always, always good) and Korean (the hubby was craving bibimbap and I had a hankering for gamjatang).
Also, *high five* for liking har gow (or ha gao)! I can eat those everyday. Have you tried har cheong fun (shrimp rice noodle roll)? Those are awesome, too! 😀

Hey Carmela!
Yummmmmmy Tex-Mex! 😀 Chinese food is good, too. And oddly, I don’t have much Korean food even though there are tons of places I know of not far from me. Maybe it’s because there are Indian and Italian places even closer. 😉
Yup, I’ve tried the shrimp rice noodle rolls, but it’s been a very long time since I had them. When I used to go for dim sum with my parents every Sunday, we always got those. 🙂
