Slatkin & Co. Hot Buttered Rum Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. Hot Buttered Rum Candle Review & PicturesI’m always a sucker for trying out new candles that are based on yummy hot beverages.

The Slatkin & Co. Hot Buttered Rum Candle was a must-try for me, especially since the salesperson at the store kept talking about it. I felt like I was beginning to drool!

Lots of people enjoy hot buttered rum especially during the holiday season, but y’know what? I’ve never had it. But if it tastes as good as this candle smells, wow!

If you’re a fan of sweet and rich-smelling candles, this one really delivers and scents your home beautifully.

Slatkin & Co. Hot Buttered Rum Candle Review

Fragrance

I found that the scent was true to its name. You can definitely smell rum that’s smoothly blended with caramel. While I’m not the biggest fan of the way rum or bourbon smells, it’s more likely the caramel and vanilla mixed in that are making me go crazy!

The Hot Buttered Rum Candle by Slatkin & Co. is a sweet and thick type of scent that permeates the air and makes it feel heavy. On a cold, crisp night, this candle does a great job at making your home feel inviting and cozy. If I had a Snuggie, I’d curl up on the sofa and read a good book while burning this candle.

The predominant note in Hot Buttered Rum is actually the rum and the bourbon. The caramel and vanilla assist both to make the end scent creamy and soft. It’s really delicious-smelling!

Scent Throw

The Slatkin & Co. Hot Buttered Rum Scented Candle had a great scent throw. I’d rate it as moderate strength because you can easily detect the fragrance while it’s burning, but it’s not super strong that it hits you like a ton of bricks.

Burning

As you can see, the wicks I got with my candle were thick. I was quite pleased with their performance because the flames remained strong for the hours that I burned them. This ensured that there was enough heat in the container, so the wax burned evenly without any tunnelling (that leads to wasted wax).

Seasonal Availability

I think I saw this scent come out around the same time last year (near the holidays). So I’m guessing that it’s one of those seasonal scents that is recurring.

    Pros

  • Yummy, smooth, sweet scent
  • Affordable (when on sale)
  • Burns evenly
  • Moderate scent throw
    Cons

  • Available only seasonally

Final Verdict: 9/10

If you’re like me and you’re a softie for sweet scents, this candle will hit the spot. It’s creamy and delicious-smelling with notes of caramel and vanilla that smooth out the rum and bourbon. It makes me want to try the actual drink!

What is your favourite beverage-scented candle? Did you pick up any of the new seasonal candles from Bath & Body Works? Do you like drinking egg nog during the holiday season?

      Hey PinkGlitter!

Most of them are amazing – my favourites are Frosted Cupcake, Homemade Cookies (I like it a lot more than when I first tried it), Leaves, and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin.

Haven’t tried this one, but I do wait all year for the peppermint stuff to come out and I’m completely addicted to their bamboo. Apparently, I’m not the only one cuz those finding a bamboo refill for my wallflower is really an adventure.

Has anyone tried the eucalyptus mint? I’ve got one of them in my car and it’s amazing.

      Hey karen!

I wonder if they’re discontinuing the Fresh Bamboo. It’s always when you like a scent that they discontinue it…or just bring it back with new packaging.

Nope – haven’t tried Eucalyptus Mint, but I can picture it being really refreshing as a car scent!

I love these candles. We were at Bath and Body Works a couple of days ago and my mom bought quite a few for the holidays (minis) we tested them out and they are heavenly! 🙂

I don’t know if it was mine, but last year or so, I bought a 3-wick and a 1-wick (not mini) of Vanilla Bean Noel and the scent was so light on both that you could hardly smell it. Maybe I got ones from a bad batch. Wish the fragrance was stronger on that one in the candle like the body-care products.

I love their candles, they smell so good. I haven’t bought any of the new scents, but so far my favorites are Frosted Cupcake, Fresh Baked Cookies, Gumdrop, Peppermint Marshmallow, and Fireside Marshmallow. I really don’t use candles in my room, but I do have the small Chocolate Mint candle and even though I haven’t used it yet, the smell is amazing. I always just want to take a big whiff of it. I had the Wallflower version of it and I absolutely loved walking into my room and it smelling like chocolate mint ice cream. I’m going to have to go to restock up on new scents for my room.

      Hey Melissa!

Great choices! Frosted Cupcake and Homemad Cookies are two of my favourites.

How does Gumdrop smell? I’ve been curious about that one, but they didn’t have any in the store the last time I went. I’m also curious about smelling Peppermint Marshmallow – sounds like the marshmallow would soften the sharp peppermint and blend well.

I only smelled the Gumdrop one for a few seconds, and from the name of it it sounds like it would be this sweet, sugary smell, but it had more of a spice smell then anything else, mixed in with some subtle hints of sugar. It’s interesting, but I really liked it. The Peppermint Marshmallow one was really good. The two scents don’t overpower each other, but you can definitely tell them apart. The peppermint wasn’t too sharp at all, very soft from the marshmallow but still evident. They balance each other out in a good way. Another good one I smelled the last time I was there was Candied Sugar Plum, which was sweet and sugary. I loved it. There’s just too many choices this time around.

Oh, I’m surprised that it’s spicier. With a name like Gumdrop, I’d also expect it to be sweet.

I agree – LOTS of amazing choices this year. There’s really something for everybody! It’s kind of dangerous to step into the store – makes me want to leave with a few candles each time.

      Hey Amber!

I can see how it would remind you of that candy, now that you mention it.

YES, it’s very hard to resist temptation in that store, isn’t it? And when they have a candle sale, it’s even harder!
