Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Peach Parfait Swatches & Review

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Peach Parfait Swatches & ReviewIf given the option, 99% of the time, I would reach for a lip gloss instead of a lipstick because I like my lips to feel moisturized.

I do have a few favourite lipsticks, but I always wished that they wouldn’t leave my pout feeling dry.

Enter the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters.

Ever since I first heard all the hype surrounding them, I’ve been wanting to try at least one so badly.

Not only are they supposed to offer some colour, but they’re also supposed to keep your lips feeling good instead of tight and dry.

I ended up buying two shades, one of which is Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Peach Parfait! And I’m very happy that I chose this one. It’s easy-to-wear, very natural, and gives your lips a little shimmer.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Peach Parfait Review

Colour

The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait is a beautiful, easy-going colour that I feel would complement a lot of different skin tones. And since it isn’t a harsh or dramatic shade, you won’t feel self-conscious wearing this, even if you’re the type of person who normally just wears a clear lip balm.

I felt like this shade brightened up my lips a bit and added a pretty sheen with a wash of colour. This made my lips look more alive and healthy. Plus, since the colour wasn’t that far off from the shade of my bare lips, I felt very comfortable wearing this with any makeup look.

Is It Moisturizing?

Yes, it does provide some hydration to your lips, but I wouldn’t recommend throwing out your lip balm in favour of this.

The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter adds a little sheen, but it is nowhere near as intensely moisturizing as Jack Black lip balms.

I’ve worn Peach Parfait over my natural lips and over a lip balm. After trying both ways, I recommend putting a balm underneath because over time, your lips will feel significantly drier if you use Peach Parfait solo as opposed to layered over a balm.

Finish

This has a peachy, shimmery finish that subtly highlights your lips. The particles are fine, so it won’t look like your lips are disco balls, and there’s no grittiness when you rub your lips together.

Application

The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait goes on very smoothly. You apply it like a lipstick, but the colour payoff is sheer, which means you don’t have to fuss with a lip liner or be too precise. Essentially, this is a low-maintenance lip product, and the kind I prefer.

What Is the Wear Time?

Since these are slicker than lipsticks, you really can’t expect them to be long-lasting. On me, it only lasted about an hour before it started to fade. When they faded, the colour wore off evenly, so you don’t get that weird ring around your lips, and the moisture wore away evenly, too.

If you’re eating, I can’t see these lasting at all. And if you’re talking a lot, I expect that these would wear off in a jiffy.

Plan to reapply these as needed.

Packaging

I realize that I may be the only person who thinks this, but I strongly dislike the packaging. Yes, the translucent, quilted tube is cute, but I don’t feel like it’s very practical. It can be a bit cumbersome to lift the tube from the base because the base is so small. And if you have lotion on your hands, it becomes exponentially more challenging.

Also, I wish that the product itself had a point like a lipstick instead of being flat. Yes, you don’t have to be too precise when applying this product, but with the other available shades (that are darker), you may actually need greater precision. This flat, wide, stick applies the product sloppier than a lipstick-style tip would.

If the stick itself weren’t as wide, perhaps that would also prevent the tube from getting messy. Right now, after you use it and then twist it back down, some of the product ends up on the silver tube part, which looks terrible.

Availability

This was really hard for me to track down because by the time I looked for them in January, all of the drugstore displays were cleaned out…or just had colours I wasn’t interested in.

If you’re in Canada, too, and you’re having difficulty finding the colour you want, I suggest ordering online from Well.ca because they have a bunch of the colours and even offer free shipping to Canada!

(Also worth noting is that when you receive them in the mail, they’re individually sealed with a plastic wrapper. I like this a lot for hygienic reasons. In the drugstore, I saw lots of non-testers that people had thoughtlessly opened and contaminated! I don’t want to buy a lip product that’s been used by a stranger! Eww!)

Colour Selection

The beautiful thing about the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters is that they come in 20 different shades, and these shades are all in the permanent collection! There’s really something to suit everyone. Some are more pigmented than others.

Pros

  • Easy-to-wear colour that anybody can pull off
  • Sheer pigmentation
  • Adds a pretty sheen & shimmer to lips
  • Not as drying as a typical lipstick
Cons

  • Packaging design makes it not the easiest to open
  • Actual product is in a wide & flat tube, which can make for sloppier application
  • Product gets all over the silver tube, no matter how careful you are
  • Last for a short time & need to be reapplied

Final Verdict: 9/10

I really like the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait because the colour doesn’t intimidate me, the formula glides onto your lips, and it adds just the right amount of sheen and shimmer to make me look more awake.

That being said, I won’t be one of the many women who have rushed out and bought dozens of the lip butters.

I purchased it in Red Velvet, too, and hope to find it in Lollipop, but after Lollipop, I don’t plan on getting any of the other shades since these are the only ones that appeal to me.

(Edit: I found it in Lollipop! 😀 Click here to see my Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Lollipop swatches & review!)

If you’re curious about trying a lip colour, but have been wary before because lipsticks tend to be too pigmented or drying, I highly recommend trying Peach Parfait. I can see this shade being appropriate for everyone from teens to seniors, and versatility is a beautiful thing! 🙂

Have you bought any of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters yet? If so, which shade(s) do you have? What do you usually wear on your lips?

Wow, you have perfect lips, so you really don’t need to be shy! 😉 I wish I could get Lip Butters where I live, this one looks great to me! And I also like Red Velvet, but my third choice would be Berry Smoothie. Oh well, maybe they’ll get them to Europe someday too. 😉

I have Pink Truffle and I like it, but I’m not in love with it. I guess nothing can be more moisturizing than a lip balm! I have a serious DRY LIPS problems, and these lip butters just won’t do it… I loved your review! It was so complete and detailed!

Do you have a favourite Maybelline Baby Lips flavour? I saw the display and there were lots to choose from. I may get one that’s highly recommended.

      Hey Jennifer!

Yeah, these lip butters add some moisture, but not enough to heal cracked lips.

Have you tried any of the Jack Black lip balms? Seriously, they’re my Holy Grail products. They will heal your lips, even if they’re so dry and chapped. Plus they have a high SPF, so they offer great protection during the day.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will try to find a Jack Black lip balm and test it out! I’ve always used the Cherry Chapstick and I love it because it’s so moisturizing and it also smells GREAT! I think it’s even better than the Original Chapstick or the Moisturizing Chapstick!

You’re very welcome. Seriously, Jack Black lip balms are the best, and even though they cost a bit more than the average balm, it’s worth it because they work!

The mint one is amazing, but if you’re not into mint, the lemon one is soooo soothing, especially if you like to wear it right before going to bed. You’ll wake up with soft, smooth lips! Actually, after I tried it out, I don’t think I can use any other lip balm.

      Hey Jeni King!

Same here – peachy lip colours tend to be the easiest for me to wear, although I’m looking to try some baby pinks that would go well with my skin tone.

      Hey Stella!

Those are pretty colours, too. I actually was debating between Candy Apple and Red Velvet. Red Velvet won for me only because I’ve been wanting to do a deep red lip for some time, and I think Red Velvet will be a good transition colour to help ease me into a full-on dark lip look.

Yeah, in the tube, it looks so dark, but on the lips, Red Velvet is a rich wash of colour. 🙂 I think that’s what makes these Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters so appealing – they make it easier for people to test-drive colours that maybe they were shy about wearing before.

Thanks for the head’s up on well.ca! I didn’t even think to look there. Been looking for ages for this particular shade but it’s always, always sold out everywhere! (It’s gotten to the point where it’s kind of ridiculous, really) I ended up getting a different shade because I really wanted to try this line. I have Sweet Tart which is more of a medium pink (no shimmer). Haven’t used it much though as I find I’ve been reaching more for the Maybelline Baby Lips ones I have. Have you tried them?

PS. Those lip swatches look so pro! <3

      Hey Carmela!

No problem. This was my first time ordering from Well.ca, and I’m quite pleased with their service. Plus the free shipping and the decent price for the Lip Butters made it worth it. Although, I really wish they had Lollipop in stock – that’s the kind of pink I’m dying to try!

The good thing about these Lip Butters is that they’re in a permanent collection, so eventually you should be able to find all the colours in the stores. I think it’s mainly because these are so hyped up that everyone is picking the displays clean!

I haven’t tried any of the Maybelline Baby Lips, but I saw a full display of them and almost walked out with one. Which one do you recommend?

Aww…thank you, Carmela! 😀 I get pretty distressed when I have to post lip swatches. It’s really strange because I’m not ashamed of my lips in person, but it makes me feel weird seeing just my lips in such a large photo for everyone in the world to see. 😛 (I have this same strangeness about posting photos of my eyes.)

True that about well.ca. Have nothing but good things to say about them. I’ve been tempted to grab a hydrating basecoat from Essie from them when you recommended it to me. As well as a Milani baked blush that I’ve been dying to try! (So much temptation + free shipping isn’t very good for my poor wallet.)

If you’re looking for something with color, I really like using Peach Kiss and Cherry Me layered as together they give me that “my lips but better” look. Cherry Me alone is a sheer medium toned pink wash of color and smells deliciously of cherries. Peach Kiss also smells like peaches and is more of a nude/peachy orange sheer wash of color with a bit of shimmer. I’ve heard good things about Pink Punch, too, it looks too pale of a pink for me to pull off. (Btw, well.ca carries them too! :P)

Seriously, your lips are SO pretty!!! They are perfect IMO, great cupid’s bow and balanced top and bottom. I like my lower lip, but the top is a bit on the thin side, so I’ll trade ya in a second. Don’t be shy in the future! :). Thx for the post. I wouldn’t have thought this color would work for me, peach always scares me because it turns orange on me. But after seeing it on your lips, I think this color might actually work for me.

This post made me so hungry, I wanted to take a bite out of that stick of peach parfait. I should add that it’s 3:25pm and I’ve had no lunch….
I really like that color, I too would rather go for a gloss than a lipstick. I personally don’t like bold colors on my lips because I just dont think it looks good on me, plus I dont like the feeling. So I really like finding alternatives that are gloss/lipstick hybrids.

I’m not really into lip stick cause like you said, it dries out your lips. I’m more into lip gloss and lip balm. I wish these were flavored cause then I’d like the red velvet and cupcake one.

Oh rats! I totally forgot to mention in my review that they don’t have any flavour. Thank you for bringing this up! Actually, I like how they don’t have any flavour because I’m very picky about the way something tastes or smells. But, who knows? Maybe they’ll release a special version of these that are flavoured!

Glad to see that this performed well for you. It does look really nice as well! I am usually pretty skeptical of products like this, as I always get really excited over something that claims to moisturize and add color, and then it fails me on one or the other. I still continue to try lipstick/gloss hybrids, though, because the prices usually can’t be beat and I’m convinced I will find one that totally works for me one day. (I do really like CoverGirl’s Nature Luxe gloss balms.)

Yes, especially because there was soooo much hype surrounding these Lip Butters, I can understand why you were really skeptical. These are pretty nice, and considering that I’m more a lip-gloss lover than a lipstick lover, I think these are a hit. 🙂 Very easy to wear, and they’re a great ‘in-between-choice’.

Glad you’re liking the CoverGirl Nature Luxe gloss balms – I’ve never tried any of those yet. Do you have a favourite shade?

Not as of now I don’t. The shade I have is nice but a little too bright for my taste. They’re available in a lot of shades though so I feel pretty confident about eventually finding one that will work for me.

MY friend and I both bought Revlon Lip Butters a month ago. We both agree that they’re great because of how hydrating they are. Another bad thing about the packaging is that the sticker falls off really easily- mine is off at less than a month. I think I have Fig Jam. Mine is also a very subtle color, where I don’t think the color is obvious enough to make fading an issue.

Hey Mary, I’m with you on the taste and smell of lip products turning me off!

I bought the L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm and couldn’t stand the SPF smell and taste so I returned it to CVS. Felt funny doing it because I’ve only returned makeup a few times (usually I just pitch it).

I have the Revlon in Pink Truffle and Cherry Tart. Red Velvet was too dark for this Casper -complected woman.

I actually just bought two of these yesterday to take advantage of a CVS extra bucks deal, and I was like “OMGYAAAY!” I don’t wear lipstick often, but this is the most moisturizing of the ones I have (mostly drugstore brands and some NYX). I guess the lip balm I use isn’t nearly as moisturizing as the Jack Black balms, but definitely boosted the balm I use (from a local Chicago seller on Etsy) and my lips are still super soft today after sleeping. The morning is usually the height of my “OMG my lips are so gross” time.

And yes, your lips are gorgeous. But I understand needing to motivate yourself to put them out there. 🙂
