Quick Look: OPI DS Raw Granite (OPI DS Lapis & OPI DS Pewter)

OPI DS Raw Granite OPI DS Lapis OPI DS PewterYesterday, I received a package in the mail that OPI’s PR team sent me. One of the things included was OPI DS Raw Granite, which contained 2 new OPI Designer Series nail polishes: OPI DS Lapis (blue) and OPI DS Pewter (grey). (They will be in stores this September.)

Usually, I post in-depth reviews and swatches after I’ve worn the nail polishes as actual manicures.

(Edit: Click here to see my in-depth review and swatches of OPI DS Lapis and OPI DS Pewter!)

But since I wanted to share a sneak peek with you, I decided to introduce a new feature on the blog called Quick Look! It’ll allow me to show you the latest products even faster.

Think of them as a snapshot of what’s to come – a little teaser, if you will. I’ll show some photos, but with little or no commentary. Hopefully, it’ll whet your appetite for the in-depth review and multiple swatches that will be coming in a future blog post.

I love them both! I would like to see them reviewed without a top coat, I’m curious how they will hold up! The Lapis is gorgeous (but I love blues and frequently have blue nail polish on!)

      Hey Amanda!

I’ll definitely review them without a top coat, since that’s typically how I wear textured polishes. 🙂 I like to wear them as-is because I consider them to be more special that way.

      Hey Carly!

Hopefully I can get those up sometime next week. I’m already wearing Lapis – loving it! Can’t wait to share my thoughts and photos with you all! 🙂

I like the blue but only with the top coat. I am however not a fan of most of the texture polishes…I have only liked a very few of them (Bond Girls – a few of the summer Pixie from Zoya, and a couple other random ones that have shimmer to them – the rest look like stucco on my nails if they don’t have any shimmer in them)…the feel of the texture is still too much like sandpaper to me and I am one who cannot stand an emery board even! Have a real aversion to the feel of sandy grit. These might be 2 DS’s that don’t really need to come home with me only because of my grit thing I have.

      Hey Beachgal!

Haha, in a way, it’s good that you only like a few textured polishes – you’re saving money! 😉

Before I tried any textured polishes, I didn’t think I’d like them. But then OPI Get Your Number came along, and the rest is history. This is probably one of my favourite nail trends!

Good Idea: quick looks tickle nailphiles curiosity!
I’m captured mainly by DS PEWTER, no top coat.
IMO textured polishes with top coat, despite of their charming look, lose most of their unicity, becoming similar to other, already seen, shades.

      Hey Floria!

I have to agree with you. I also think that textured polishes look more unique when worn as-is. With a top coat, they’re brilliant, but it takes away from the novelty.

Love the idea of the sneak peek!

Might shy away from these two polishes, though. DS has lost a lot of appeal for me since Temptation came out. It just wasn’t as smooth and luscious as the previous DS polishes that I’ve come to know and love. It had more texture and the application felt a bit sludgy compared to some of the older colors like Reserve.

The Pewter gives off a bit of a Metallic For Life from the Nicki Minaj Collection but the Lapis IS very pretty. If I were going to take the leap and buy, it would definitely be the one.

      Hey Karen!

A lot of people were disappointed with OPI DS Temptation. Pity!

I’m wearing OPI DS Lapis right now, and it’s really gorgeous! I can’t wait to review it on here in detail. It’s not as gritty as typical OPI textured polishes, and the colour is so rich!

Oh no… *looks at thin pitiful wallet* Provoke my covet response, why don’t you!

GREAT idea, quick looks, and so smart and so helpful! Clues me in on what to check out in future posts, here and elsewhere. I appreciate your ingenuity!

I love your in depth reviews and that you actually wear the polish so that you can comment on it’s staying power!

But I also love the idea of a Quick Look sneak peak photos! The best of both worlds!

      Hey Gwen!

Yes, I’m a nailphile, so I need to wear my polishes instead of just swatching them for photos. 🙂 The minimum I wear a polish is for a day, but I like to wear them for longer, if possible.

Glad you’re liking the idea of Quick Look posts!
