Prestige Eyeliner Review – Marble

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Even when I’m in a rush in the A.M. (which is often), eyeliner is the one makeup product that I cannot skip. I own many different colors, and I love having them all fanned out. The idea of the many options makes me so happy! 😀

That said, I was on the prowl for the prettiest green eyeliner when I found the Prestige Eyeliner in Marble. (The full name from their website is Prestige Classic Khol Eyeliner.) The color I like. The product? Not so much.

Prestige Marble Eyeliner Review

The product met its claims, so why do I say “Skip!” to the Prestige Eyeliner? Well, it doesn’t stay put – plain and simple.

As soon as I uncapped the eyeliner, I took pictures of the swatches (a habit since starting this blog). I ran my fingers over the clean swatch 3 times just to see if it’d smudge. And it did…to my disappointment.

So when I put it on my naked eye, I didn’t have high hopes for it to last. And it didn’t…to my disappointment. By the end of the day, I had green circles on my lower lash line. Gross!

I decided to give the Prestige kohl eyeliner a second try thinking it might be the temperature the previous day, and I was once again disappointed. Throughout the entire day, I was wiping the lower part of my eye with a tissue, and I’d see green smudges every time.

Third time’s a charm, right? Seeing as this is a kohl eyeliner which is designed to smudge more easily for blending, I decided to wear it “pre-smudged” the next day. I used a q-tip to blend in the liner for a slightly smoky effect. I went to work hopeful and came home disappointed. Not as much product came off onto the lower part of my eye, but it still did not pass the test.

And it’s not as simple as wearing a good eyelid primer underneath. This pencil dried up within just a few short months! I’ve tried sharpening it, and the beautiful color didn’t come back. Boo. It now doesn’t glide on as easily because it’s all dried and hard.

Pros

  • Beautiful colors & wide variety available
  • Glides on easily (at first)
  • Reasonably priced
  • Color matched end offers accurate reference
Cons

  • Not easily available at all drugstores
  • Ingredients not available (on site or on product)
  • Comes off easily
  • Not an automatic pencil
  • Dries & hardens in just a few months

Final Verdict: 2.5/10

Even though this Prestige eyeliner smudges like crazy, it was easy to glide on, with soft texture and a beautiful color. But just wait a few months, and these good points disappear, too. What a bad experience.

Tried the Prestige Khol Eyeliner? Whether you had a similar or completely different experience, I’d love to hear it.
