OPI Holland Collection Spring/Summer 2012 Press Release & Promo Pictures

OPI Holland Collection Press Release Spring Summer 2012You may have already heard about the OPI Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012, but just in case you haven’t, here you go!

The ones that caught my eye initially were Thanks a WindMillion, I Have a Herring Problem, and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!

Some of the names make me laugh. That’s partially why I love OPI – they have fun with the names and usually they come up with something really creative. It’s way more fun to own a colour with a quirky name than just something like “Blue”.

Which colours are you looking forward to in the OPI Holland Collection? If you could name your own polish, what would it be called?

These are the colours in the OPI Holland Collection:

Color with a Touch of Dutch

OPI Launches Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012

OPI Holland Collection Press Release Spring Summer 2012

OPI celebrates color with the Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Inspired by the country’s range of stunning shades – as seen in vivid tulips, windmill-dotted hillsides and bustling canals – the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of sophisticated neutrals and highly-pigmented brights.

“Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral and orange hues that capture this energy. The bright lacquers are married with neutrals in new variations like red clay and sea green.”

A sequence of electric brights, including a sun-lit orange (A Roll in The Hague), a hot coral-red (Red Lights Ahead…Where?) and two perfectly pretty pinks (Kiss Me on My Tulips and a light-catching Pedal Faster Suzi!) complement their cooler counterparts in hues of glistening purple (Dutch ’Ya Just Love OPI? and Vampsterdam), while elegant neutrals (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Did You ’ear About Van Gogh? and Wooden Shoe Like to Know?) meet two shimmer-laced blues (I Have a Herring Problem and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!) and a creamy sea green (Thanks a WindMillion).

“Wearing these colors on fingers and toes will accessorize the season’s hottest trends,” remarks Suzi. “The varied palette of colors accentuates the looks that walked the runway, from colored pants and ladylike frocks to long, blousysleeved tops and dramatic patterns.”

Holland by OPI includes the following shades:

      Hey Amy K!

Pinterest is so awesome, isn’t it? 🙂 It’s so much fun looking at photos that inspired other people and then sharing it with your friends. Plus, yes, it’s also great as a tool for visual reminders. 😉

      Hey maddy!

I can’t wait, either! 🙂 It’s fun to see them in person to get a better feel for the colours. Hope they’re just as awesome (or even better) than the promo pictures.

I’m definitely looking forward to this collection. Pedal Faster Suzi, Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?, and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam are my faves. Im thinking about Thanks A Windimillion as well.
I love OPI names also. I’m so horrible with naming things, I wouldn’t even know what to calmly my polish if I had one.

      Hey MariJo!

After seeing so many dark polishes, it’s refreshing to see brighter colours again. I’m so looking forward to spring! Are you?

Omg if these pictures are coming up then that means I might be seeing them soon at my local supplier (I don’t know how but they always seem to get collections early… like really early *cough*)

Lucky you that you have a source where you can snatch them up sooner! 😀 If you get any, please come back and let me know what you think!

Oh, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann is OPI’s Executive Vice President and the artistic director. She has such an awesome job, doesn’t she? 🙂

      Hey Kelly!

I don’t have too many hot pinks, so I’m actually curious to see if I can find some that are different than the typical ones out there, and if they’ll go with my skin tone. But, yes, the others are also gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the blues, especially.

Oh I’m surprised that now that I look at the collection, I see quite a few that I’d really love to own! At first it seemed like kind of a meh collection to me but guess my mood has changed or something 😀 I really like the orange one and definitely want to see more of the Van Gogh one.

      Hey Iris!

Hehe, I’m the same way – sometimes I’ll see small photos of a collection and think that it’s nothing special, but then when you can see the pictures of the individual bottles more clearly, it becomes a whole different animal. 😉

I was looking forward to Did you ear about van gogh, but after checking out swatches in person at my local store I realized it’s very close to my skin color. It makes me look like I have no nails (yeah, I’m pale lol). The two I’m probably going to grab now is Gouda Gouda Two Shoes and I Have A Herring Problem. Speaking of names, have you had pickled herring? It’s so good especially the kind that’s pickled in mustard. I used to eat it everyday when I lived in Finland, now I can only get it occasionally at Ikea.

      Hey Vivian!

How lucky that you and some others can already find this collection at local stores! The places around me that I know about only carry the collections starting on their official release dates or even much later.

No, I’ve never had pickled herring before. I don’t really eat much fish, and sometimes I joke about how the reason why is maybe because I’m a Pisces. 😉 Funny how Ikea is the place where you can get it now!

Really looking forward to this collection and China Glaze Hunger Games! The ones I would love to get are Red Lights Ahead…Where? (looks like it would be a gorgeous summer pedicure color!!), I Don’t Give a Rotterdam, Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, and possibly Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI?. Thanks a Windmillion looks appealing as well, but perhaps a little close to Mermaid’s Tears? And I’m not really an orange fan, but A Roll in the Hague does look bright and fun (and what would a Dutch collection be without an orange??). The color of the Van Gogh one is ok but the name just cracks me up, haha.

I definitely want atleast one of those blue shades, they both remind me of denim! And Vampsterdam looks really pretty, I need a shade of purple that color in my collection.

      Hey Ashley!

Now that you mention it, yes, they do look like denim a bit. Blues like that are very easy to wear, so I hope that’s indeed what they look like.

I’m looking forward to this collection! I really want Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI?, I Have a Herring Problem, and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! I think they’re really pretty colors. I’m glad to see that there is a variety of colors in this collection for everyone and not just reds and pinks.

      Hey Melissa!

Agreed – I always applaud nail-polish companies when they go beyond the traditional reds and pinks. (Although those colours are nice, the market is saturated with them, and I do feel that women want to continually express themselves in novel ways through other creative colours.)

I’m a little sad that these will come out in February. I was hoping to see them by now so that I won’t have to make an exception with them in February when I’m going to enforce a strict buy less. I kind of went a little crazy this January (50 polishes in a month isn’t too much, is it?) so I definitely have to scale back some. But I Don’t Give a Rotterdamn is a must have for me! Absolute need! (Frugal Hammie is quite upset with me so he says I can only get one from this collection)

      Hey Carmela!

You never know if they could crop up early. A bunch of people have already found them at local beauty stores! Keep checking. It’s usually the smaller stores that tend to carry them earlier…although the ones in my area don’t tend to release things early.

PHEW – 50 nail polishes in January? CARMELA! *Bows down to the master*

I joined your site on Google Friend Connect. 🙂 The only thing, though, is that GFC apparently will no longer work on WordPress blogs in March, so I’ll be removing my GFC widget on my blog before then. I’ll look for other avenues to follow you.

      Hey Marta!

Oh, all those wayward polishes that keep coming home with you! What can I say? Can you blame them for wanting to enjoy the good life with Marta? 😉

Haha, I think your mantra of “Must. Refrain. From. Buying…” will eventually change to “Must. Buy.” Small typo, right? 😛
