Press Release & Promo Pictures: Nicole by OPI Launches New Lacquers for 2012!

Nicole by OPI New Lacquers for 2012 Press Release & Promo PicsHappy Friday, everyone!

Guess what? Looks like Nicole by OPI has 4 new shades out to start off the New Year.

There weren’t any promotional photos featuring all 4 new shades, so I put something together myself to give you a quick glance at everything.

Two of them have piqued my interest.

Do any of these shades move you? What colours would you like to see Nicole by OPI come out with this year?

My First Impression:

Out of the 4 new shades, I’m excited to see what 2 of them look like in person.

A Million Sparkles looks like a blue with gorgeous bar glitter. I don’t own any polishes with bar glitter, so this one really intrigues me.

Shoot for the Maroon took me by surprise. Judging from the promo picture, it looks like it has some copper. I really hope it’s not just a standard burgundy and that it’s a duochrome. That looks promising! (Wouldn’t it be cool if it was the burgundy version of OPI Warm & Fozzie?)

The new lacquers are:

  • A Lit-Teal Bit of Love
  • A Million Sparkles
  • Shoot for the Maroon
  • Vio-let’s Talk about Red

The press release sent to me by PR:

Nicole by OPI announces four new fashion-forward nail lacquer shades for 2012, including  A Lit-Teal Bit of Love,  A Million Sparkles, Shoot for the Maroon, and Vio-let’s Talk about Red. Featuring two shades of rich berry and burgundy and two hues of vibrant shimmering and glitter-packed blue, these new colors give any look instant glamour and edge.

“These four new lacquers easily take nails from day to night,”  explains  Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “With rich, bold color, each shade adds a dramatic contrast when worn with denim or more casual clothes; at the same time, the highly-pigmented shimmers – especially the rainbow and aqua-blue glitter of A Million Sparkles – are perfect for parties or a night on the town.”

The new Nicole by OPI lacquers include:

Ooooh…A Million Sparkles looks like it might have the same type of holo glitter that they used in the Nicki Minaj polish!

Lovin’ the shine in Shoot for the Maroon. It’s nice that they’ve started employing that deep shimmer into some of their colors. 😀

    Happy Friday!

      Hey karen!

I’m realllllly hoping that you’re right because Save Me (from the Nicki Minaj Collection) looked insanely beautiful. (Gosh, the more I talk about Save Me, the more I want to run out right now and buy it!)

I was excited when I saw they were coming out with new shades, but now i’m a little “eh” about them. I was hoping for more variety. It is hard to tell from their pics what the polish will actually look like so I wont give up complete hope. Also, I really don’t like the name a lit-teal bit of love…I feel like I have a stutter each time I try to say it 😛

      Hey Frosso!

Yup – seeing them in person is the only way to tell for sure. Oftentimes the real deal looks so much better than the promo pictures. I wonder if one day nail-polish companies will just use photos of the actual product instead of graphic renderings…

No problem – when I receive good press releases and promo pictures, I try to share them as soon as I can in case it’s news to someone. 🙂

      Hey PinkGlitter!

Have you looked at OPI Save Me from the Nicki Minaj Collection? That one’s a STUNNING bar glitter. Also, Zoya came out with a few new bar glitters!

Hmm, no flakie love? That makes me a little sad. But if you predict it right (seriously, a burgundy Warm and Fozzie would so totally rock my world!), and I hope you do, Shoot for the Maroon should be the stunner in this set, for me! Plus points for a duochrome!

I’m all glittered out though (*gasp* a travesty, I know!) so I’m probably passing on that and everything else. Gotta give props for that imagination with naming the polishes though! (Definitely beats the Models Own polish namers. Pinky Brown is such a boring name for an awesome glass-flecked duochrome. Tsk.)

      Hey Carmela!

I’m sure that Nicole by OPI will come out with flakies in upcoming collections – they’re always hot the heels of the trends.

How are you liking the Models Own polishes, by the way? (I didn’t get any of the Beetlejuice Collection even though I had my eye on all of them. Maybe sometime soon I’ll suck it up and order them.)

Is it wrong that I feel a strange compulsion to own every single flakie polish out there even if the flakies look similar to each other? Lol! I can’t wait for the other brands to jump on the bandwagon! But before that, I still have the China Glaze Colors of the Capital to look forward to (just thinking of tying the colors to the books has me quivering in excitement! Speaking of, I hope you’re reading them now..?). 😀

I’ve only swatched them on a nail wheel altho my mom in law wore Pinky Brown and completely fell in love. I’d have given her the bottle but when she found out I had to order it all the way from London, she didn’t want it anymore. I guess I was hoping for a lot more duochrome goodness but two resemble those in the Orly Cosmic FX collection with the duochrome flecks while the other 2 look more like Nubar duochromes in that they have a bit of a frosty/metallic feel. I’m still on the fence with the 5th, a really blackened green. It looks so much like black in most lights that I feel it doesn’t really have much of a duochrome to it. Anyway, I’ll have swatches up by February for sure! (If you can wait that long, lol)

No, it’s not wrong at all. In fact, I would have to check your temperature if you didn’t like flakie polishes! 😉

*Avoids eye contact* I haven’t bought the books yet. I really need to get the first one soon and try to read more of it before the movie comes out.

Ever since Marta shared an etailer that ships Models Own polishes to Canada for less, I may actually place an order! But even if I nab a bunch, I’ll still look forward to your oh-so-pretty swatches.

Same here – when I see swatches, that’s what makes the itch unbearable and then I know I’ll have to buy them. 😛 Hope those two look as good as I’m imagining they will!

I duno… I don’t currently own any Nicole by OPIs. But seems like nothing they ever come out with is unique, just feels like its over priced OPIs. Sure the bottle looks cuter, but a lot of pepo seem to complain about the actual wear quality of this brand. Makes me think twice before wanting to pick up a bottle.

I completely agree. I never buy a nicole polish unless I REALLY love a color. Nicole is aimed for younger girls, so stick on justin bieber or kim kardashion’s face on a bottle and it will probably sell. OPI at my local beauty store is $6, while nicole is never cheaper than $8.5 at shoppers.

Yes! it’s an amazing deal but I read somewhere that nail techs could get OPI for $4.25 each. Now that’s sweet! Makes me want to become a nail tech just for the discounts.

      Hey Michelle!

I think they come out with some interesting colours – like Kendall on the Katwalk! That polish was truly a stunner.

After having worn a few Nicole by OPI polishes, I have to say that the quality was always just as good as OPI. I’ve never had any problems with wear. But I can understand how you don’t like the inflated price. I’m not sure why it’s more expensive – maybe the bottle costs more to produce? *Shrugs*

I’m looking forward to A Million Sparkles and Shoot for the Maroon! A Million Sparkles looks like Snow-man of my Dreams except with bar glitter, I really want to get this one cause I missed out on the Holiday Glitters collection. I love the shimmer in Shoot for the Maroon. I wish these were out now, I’m going to the mall today and I wish they were out already.

      Hey maddy!

Now that you mention it, yes, I can totally see it as being the bar-glitter version of Snow-man of My Dreams! That’s making me even more excited since I liked that one, but didn’t pick it up.

These should be out soon, so keep your eyes peeled like a banana for them. I know I will! I need to see them in person.

Thanks for the update! Same here – I’ll be on the lookout. There was no definite date (just “January”), so hopefully they’ll be out really soon and not at the end of the month.

Haha that’s what I thought before I had any bar glitter too! All I could think of was getting my hands on some! Then last week I got two bar glitters; CG marry a millionaire and OPI Save Me. I do not like the look and shape of them at all =/ It looks like little bits of lint, twigs and hair got stuck on my nails. *shudders* I guess I’m just more of a hexagon glitter person.

You might be right! Murky cloudy days and dim lighting aren’t the best time to wear them. I’ll need to try again in the summer!

Ahhhhh…Vivian, you got the two bar glitters I want so badly! NEED. TO. GET. THEM! Hope I like the look of ‘hair’ on my nails when I finally get ’em. 😉

They do best under a sheer shatter like OPI’s Pink Shatter (with which I was, quite frankly, very disappointed because of it’s sheer color) or Super Bass. The sheer shatters seem to tone down the ‘hairy’ texture in low light and allow the spark to really come thru in sunlight.

A Million Sparkles looks like it could be nice. But I’ll have to wait until swatches come out. If it’s just another dupe of OPI Simmer & Shimmer, then I really don’t need it. But I’m thinking it looks different though. Shoot For The Maroon looks pretty as well.

Heavens, girl! If they’d let me ship it by air, I’d send you some myself. Seriously…you NEED that polish!

You know how pretty it looks in pics? Well, double that, add more glitter, and topcoat til it shines like glass because the pics simply do not do it justice.

Picked up a bottle of Shoot for the Maroon at wallyworld this morning. What can I say? It jumped off the shelf and right into my hand. It is absolutely gorgeous….not too purple, not too brown…and did I mention the deep bronzy shimmer? Your pics are really close on the color and I can’t wait to wear it. 😀

Okay, based upon my feeble efforts, it is obvious that I lack talent behind the lens…at least when it comes to photographing bottles. On the upside, it makes me appreciate your talent even more. How on earth do you get pics of the bottles that look so nice?

My current mani (FP Art You Wonderful over CG Turned Up Turquoise) is showing signs of wear and is due to be changed tomorrow. I’ll do Shoot for the Maroon and see if I can come up with some decent pics. 😀

Oh really? One of my readers posted her lovely manicure of Shoot for the Maroon on my Facebook wall, and it was gorgeous. I don’t have Teas-y Does It, but I have Nubar Raspberry Truffle (which is supposedly a dupe). I didn’t even realize that it might be a dupe for Shoot for the Maroon! Interesting!

Shoot for the maroon is amazing on the nail. The first coat it looks real maroon with a light shimmer so you could wear it like that if you want but with the second coat the bronze shimmer really comes out and the maroon gets real dark. It’s a very pretty color!
