You may remember the press release I posted in June about the new OPI Wipe-Off! Acetone-Free Lacquer Remover Wipes that launched just this month.
I was really excited to give them a go because, during times when I’m travelling, it’s really convenient to not have to lug around liquid nail-polish remover and just have neat, compact wipes.
The OPI Wipe-Off! wipes are a great idea because they’re mess-free and easy to take with you anywhere.
My concern was their claim that just a single wipe was enough to remove lacquer from all 10 nails. I put that to the test, and I was curious to do so because when I remove polish with my favourite nail-polish remover from Sally Beauty Supply, I have to use several cotton balls to get the job done.
So how did one wipe fare? There’s only one way to find out! 😉

OPI Wipe-Off! Acetone-Free Lacquer Remover Wipes Review
Efficacy
To see if it worked, I decided to test it out on a polish that I was already wearing – OPI The Sky’s My Limit. It is packed with lots of shimmer. Plus blues are notorious for staining nails and cuticles.
I was extremely impressed that just one wipe, which wasn’t dripping wet when I took it out of the package, actually did remove nail polish from all 10 fingernails!
The material of the wipe reminds me a lot of a thinner dryer sheet because it’s more like a woven cloth and less like a paper such as a wet napkin you’d get at a restaurant. (For some reason, I was expecting it to be like a wet napkin, but I think the woven cloth adds texture, which also helps in the polish-removing process.)
The wipe feels a bit dry, but there’s an oily substance on it at the same time. This is what made my nails and cuticles feel hydrated despite using nail-polish remover on them. It was a great balance.
I followed the directions to gently wipe each nail, and I was impressed how it effectively took off every bit of the polish without me having to press hard or scrub my nails (which I was prepared to do).
I used one side of the wipe per hand, and it worked well. I was able to even remove the polish from underneath my nails. (I paint the free edge of my nails, also known as ‘wrapping the tips’ to extend my manicures, and the OPI Wipe-Off! wipes successfully got rid of all the polish with little effort.)
When I was done in just a couple of minutes, all the blue came off from my nails and my cuticles. No stubborn staining!
Fragrance
One of the things I dislike the most about nail-polish removers is the strong, chemical smell. My favourite remover from Sally Beauty Supply is waaaay less ‘chemical-y’ than all the others I’ve tried, and I love it, but these OPI Wipe-Off! wipes even beat it in the fragrance department.
The OPI Wipe-Off! wipes smell mildly of lavender, but it’s so soft that it doesn’t hit you over the head like an elephant ton of bricks. And because the formula is acetone-free, you don’t get that nauseating harshness.
I was really surprised how little scent these wipes had, and that’s such a good thing for people like me who have a sensitive snout!
Travel-Friendliness
Since each wipe is individually packaged, you can take one wipe or more with you in your purse, suitcase, or wherever without having to worry about nail-polish remover spilling. That’s such a huge advantage – a real game changer!
When travelling or staying over at others’ places, I used to always lug a bottle of nail-polish remover and cotton balls if I planned on switching up my manicure. It was bulky, and I was always worried about accidents and the smell.
I’ll certainly be packing these OPI Wipe-Off! wipes the next time because they’re very convenient, and they’re so compact!
Value
The OPI Wipe-Off! nail-polish remover wipes retail for $8.95 CAD for 10 wipes. While it’s definitely more expensive than just buying liquid nail-polish remover and cotton balls, you have to consider that when you buy these, you’re buying convenience.
For my day-to-day nail-polish removal, I still plan on using the liquid variety and cotton balls, but for when I’m away from home, these wipes are perfect!

Final Verdict: 10/10
I don’t give out a lot of perfect scores, but the OPI Wipe-Off! nail-polish remover wipes certainly deserve it because they exceeded my expectations on all the criteria that are important to me.
If you travel a lot, stay over at friends’ homes often, or want to remove chipped polish while on-the-go, you have to try the OPI Wipe-Off! acetone-free lacquer-remover wipes for their impressive convenience and effectiveness!
Do you change your nail polish while on-the-go? When travelling, do you bring your nail supplies with you? Are you going to try these OPI Wipe-Off! wipes?
Wow… these look like an absolute must-have!
I sure hope they will be for sale over here in Europe as well…
Also, could you try them out on a glitter polish when you have the time?
I wonder how they hold up in that case.
Hey Joyce!
Yes, I think that every nailphile who travels or who needs something to remove polish on-the-go should try this. It works so well!
Sure, the next time I wear glitter polish (not sure when that will be), I’ll try it out to see how it fares and then I’ll update this post with the results.
I’m very impressed! These are so going on my shopping list. LOL
Hey Melissa!
You won’t be disappointed – these work like a charm! 🙂
Oh wow! Those wipes are the size of a makeup remover wipe! Count me impressed!
Hey Kel!
Yes, it was a very generous size, so even after removing your nail polish on your fingernails, I think you might also be able to remove lacquer from your toenails with the same wipe.
I bought some cheapo little wipes from eBay for my trip to BC, but they get really “greasy” feeling. I’d like the OPI wipes for emergencies, but they’re so expensive.

Hey Debbie!
These ones still have a bit of an oily feel, but that’s because they’re moisturizing. I was impressed how my skin and nails didn’t feel dry after.
Yes, they’re pretty pricey – save them for those nail emergencies! 🙂
These are impressive! I’m going to a destination wedding in Sept and originally I was going to get gel nails (though I have an issue with commitment when it comes to nails). Now, I think I might just pack one of these wipe-off packages.
Hey Roberta!
That’s a good idea! They’ll definitely make things easier and convenient for you. 🙂
